WE should be targeting any guys with talent on offense and defense. If the players enter the portal after their coach is fired or leaves they can be contacted immediately for recruiting. I think most the quality starters will stay or transfer to a better fbs program. We maybe able to land a few back ups or guys who had limited playing time. For example Brown-Stevens and Alexis were a decent find from Texas and Minnesota. Hoping we can find some diamonds in the rough. They werent game breakers, but definitely contributed more than most of the other power5 transfers from the Scott era. Khafre Brown was from a transfer from UNC and he has been productive. We really need to identify and target the backups that have talent that could play next year.
College football's new transfer portal windows, explained - ESPN

The transfer portal opens in less than a month, and coaches and personnel directors are already preparing for the "chaos" element.
I thought you said they had to wait to enter the portal. A few names have popped up recently -- why are they allowed to enter?
There are a few exceptions to the portal windows. Graduate transfers can enter at any time. Even prior to the immediate-eligibility waiver, grad transfers had been able to play for another team right away because they fulfilled their undergraduate requirements.
Players whose head coaches were fired during the season will have an immediate 30-day window to enter the portal, allowing other coaches to talk and communicate with them if there's a future spot on their roster.
