    "Scattered" 7 strikeouts? I can't remember seeing it said that way before. Seems to be quite a bit of juggling of the lineup so far. Looking for the perfect fit perhaps

    They could be using his influence to jump start the fundraising. He's probably not here for the long haul either way unless fundraising can generate a push to a P5 conference and even then he could be out of here in few years

    Either that or he is the figure head and the "personality" of the football program so he is the one making the "pitch" so to speak. I definitely think he is pointing the finger at the lack of support for the program from the big donors and possibly the Development folks at USF

    Ragsdale was/is a pitcher as well. They'll have to use some of these young and/or less experienced guys this week with the extra week day game. Good opportunity to give guys some looks

    This was a "must" sweep. CMU isn't very good at all.

    Yeah, I haven't actually seen him throw yet but it stat lines aren't overly impressive. We're just trying to get that 3rd starter figured out before conference play starts. I noticed they've given each of the newcomers a look at SS last night and today. Montes hurt?

    I don't know if there is a better option than Perez. I thought Montes struggled when he filled in at SS last year for Merrill. I think he looks much better as 2B. Dutka is definitely serviceable. I just didn't think he looked smooth there last night, but that is the only time I've seen him.

    True, but the bullpen looks mediocre at this point so he'll leave a lot up to them

    That's what you get on Friday nights. Every team is running out their #1 and almost all are going to be very good. Shane could help himself some. He's averaging 6 innings a start because he is throwing too many pitches and thus he is leaving it in the hands of a fairly mediocre bullpen.

    Cruz only hit 80 once is his short stint. I don't see him as a closer. I don't know if drills are going to take care of the defense at this point. I wasn't impressed with Dutka at 2B although he definitely swings the bat. Doesn't Wisely play 2B as well?

    Crowd was average including a dozen or so scouts behind home plate with their radar guns out. My dad was at the Fordham Saturday night game and he said this "crowd" was larger than that night. Berms were pretty empty. My son and his buddies pretty much had free reign on foul balls. Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons seem to draw better with the families No doubt people should get out to see Shane pitch though. That's why I went tonight

    Bats didn't look so hot against a so so SP from CMU. Couple of double plays early ended rallies before they got going. Shane was solid, just too deep in counts. Looked like he was struggling a little early on, but still was bringing it. I wasn't very impressed with Cruz or Perez in relief. The team seemed a little sloppy on defense as well. I hate to say it, but I could see some struggles come conference time if they don't fix some ills.
