  1. I haven't said anything negative about PS. He's been great. Still no reason to switch nights and SM has been very, very good as well.
  2. UNC is lower competition, oh wait they were "rusty" ... at least on Friday, but not Saturday
  3. Not sure what this has to do with anything. Are you trying to argue that SM isn't as good as people "thought"?
  4. You only appear to see numbers that help your "case". I haven't really argued one or the other on which pitcher has pitched "better" in conference games. It's relevant, SM has simply pitched much better than you proclaim and I wouldn't switch starting days based on the numbers you lay out.
  5. **** it. Quote and Edit buttons are too close together .... lol
  6. It is when you pick and choose what to subtract and what not to subtract. It's ok, I'm sure the PS fan club meetings are great especially this week. Cheers!
  7. This isn't the first team whose #2 had better "stats" than the #1 (and that is only selectively true). Doesn't mean you go off and change the rotation midseason especially when the team's results are there.
  8. Didn't PS face those same opponents? You don't think other conferences face similar cupcakes preconference? lol, are you related to PS? The bias is thick
  9. Well the marketing may need to be better, but that person should get out from under their rock once in awhile.
  10. SM leads the conference in opponents BA as well. He's the better pitcher, he's just erratic which isn't uncommon for hard throwing lefties. He seems to get a little frustrated and loses it mentally at times. The Bulls are fortunate to have 2 quality starters.
  11. You ignored part of the statement and the context. You've done nothing but point out his faults and make excuses to nullify for his strengths A loss is a loss. You can't have it both ways.
  12. Who said it was a foregone conclusion? Again selectivity. He could lose 1-0 like the UH game. How's that play out differently when we need the apparently god awful SM to shut down on Sat.
  13. The difference is in evaluating his overall performance. Having a couple of bad innings isn't stinking up the place and he has got the job done in 2 of 4 conference starts. What's the difference if PS wins on Sat or Fri if the team is sitting a top the division? There seems to be selectivity on what is important and what isn't.
  14. It is in a vacuum when you ignore the fact that 10 of those "earned runs" were statistically in 1 inning. He allowed 2 ERs in the other 15.2 innings. I give you he pitched poorly on Friday night, but he hadn't pitched poorly overall prior to that. I haven't claimed you are ignoring "gawdy numbers", you're ignoring every positive the guy has. The only way switching the nights these guys starts helps our team at all is if there is a significant mental advantage to SM starting Saturday instead of Friday and you haven't alluded to that at all.
  15. Heres a write up about the game: http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bulls/2018/04/14/takeaways-from-the-usf-football-spring-game/

  17. Attendance and OCS has been a topic of discussion. Of course he pointed out how we were lower than a couple of AAC teams in terms of spring game attendance, but ignored that we were higher than most. Attendance has always been an easy topic to write/talk about in terms of Tampa Bay sports and I stress EASY (could maybe replace it with LAZY)
  18. Of course you don't care, it does fit your objective like just looking at the ER line in a vacuum does. And you are ignoring it, you started your post with "I don't care ...." Just like you are ignoring we are in 1st place in the conference and have won 3 out of 4 series. Bullpen hasn't been taxed, that's a mischaracterization on your account. Again to try and prove your objective of getting PS to be the Friday night starter. Doesn't matter to me who starts which night. It's working now as it is, may or may not work if they were switched.
  19. Meh, open forum. Agreed, PS gets beat on Fri by the opposing team's #1 and now you need a shutdown game from SM. Not really improving your position. it's about winning series, sweeps are nice but 2 out of 3 accomplishes the goal.
  20. Yes you kind of do. 10 of those ERs were in 1+ of an inning (and Mohl would have handled pitchers differently in the 7th inning of UH game if we didn't have an 8 run lead with 2 outs in the inning) while the other 15 innings prior to this past weekend he threw lights out. You keep ignoring that. He's not going to go deeper than 6-7 innings because he misses too many bats and struggles with control at times. That's a by product of his filthy stuff and everybody paying attention especially Mohl knew that going in. As long as we're winning series, then there really isn't a reason to mess with it unless Mohl really feels like SM will benefit from throwing on Saturday night. There's no guarantee that PS will replicate results on Friday night against other teams #1. Besides we've completed series with 3 of the next 4 best teams outside of us in the Conference already.
  21. He threw well against Tulane and we didn't "overcome" 6 runs against Houston. We gave up 4 runs in the 7th with a big lead and Cruz was part of the issue. In fact, SM was lights out for 6.2 and lost it with 2 outs in the 7th. Cruz was awful in relief. Like I said, besides this past weekend (and 1 inning vs. UConn), he hasn't thrown nearly as bad as you want to make it sound. We're atop the Conference standings so it appears to be working. SM takes on the stud and PS gets the opposing teams #2 while Sunday we piece it together and try to outscore our opponents.
