Glad my eyes got steered here from the main index page.

This team is going to change a lot after this season.  There are a handful of seniors and a number of draft-eligible juniors.  While I want to enjoy the rest of this season, this sensational class constructed by Mark Kingston is going to be hard to duplicate.  I hope we retain some of the juniors, but Coach Mohl is going to have to be efficient and impactful restocking the dugout.

We are defiantly losing a lot after this season.

  2. Fresh off claiming their fourth-straight AAC championship, the USFmen’s golf team will head to Kissimmee as the four-seed in the NCAA Regionals at Reunion Resort’s Watson Course.

Led by senior Claudio Correa, who is participating in his third consecutive NCAA tournament as a Bull, who claimed the individual AAC tournament trophy with a three stroke win over teammate Christian DiMarco, will look to get back to the NCAA Championships since 2016

He's 10-0. In 70.2 innings, he's allowed 39 hits, ONE earned run, walked 12 and struck out 90! He threw a one-hit shutout with 13Ks on Tuesday night vs. Manatee

K:BB ratio is awesome. The ERA things isn't as crazy as you might think. Errors are pretty common and that gets a lot of HS pitchers off the hook, , his 7 total runs against is pretty good. He clearly throws a ton of strikes, which is half the battle. I haven't seen his name in any of the MLB draft projects

  4. Looks like they project BK under center and EM in the back field.

    Projecting USF’s 2018 post-spring depth chart

Off- Synopsis: In the dead-heat quarterback battle, we're giving the nod to Kean for now. Candidly, we believe Oladokun possesses more physical upside, but we keep going back to how Kean clearly out-performed another presumably superior athlete (Asiantii Woulard) two preseasons ago. Mack had a breakthrough spring, so we're giving him the edge at running back, though we can envision a Mack/Cronkrite tandem similar to D'Ernest Johnson/Darius Tice. The fact neither Trevon Sands nor Jernard Phillips are on this chart illustrates just how deep this team is at running back and receiver, respectively. With Mayes rehabbing a knee all spring, Atterbury logged some reps at left tackle. While we wouldn't be shocked if he stuck there, he's probably most needed at guard at this point.

Def-Synopsis: Reaves was rehabbing this spring, but the coaches know what he can do. The Bulls have four incoming freshman tackles, any of whom conceivably could crack this chart in 2018 (not that we see it happening). The competition at second-team corner, a position where the Bulls have stockpiled talent, should remain pretty intense through August. Don't be shocked if early enrollee Antonio Grier (who got dinged up in the spring) shakes things up at linebacker. Of course, the long-awaited breakthrough of Jimmy Bayes could materialize too.

ST- Synopsis: Schneider, a juco guy originally from Sydney, Australia, was brought in to replace veteran Jonathan Hernandez. We have no clue what the Bulls are gonna do at kicker. Schneider and a couple of walk-ons took reps in the spring, but none were convincing, at least during the sessions open to reporters.

  5. South Florida

Florida Atlantic grabs all the Group of Five headlines in the Sunshine State because we love writing (and you love reading) about Lane Kiffin. UCF is coming off an undefeated season. Boise State is the offseason favorite to grab the New Year’s Six bowl slot dedicated to the highest ranked Group of Five champ.

But don’t sleep on the Bulls. Yes, they lost quarterback Quinton Flowers, but coach Charlie Strong’s team still has the athletes to play with anyone in the American Athletic Conference. This team pushed UCF to the brink last season, and if it can survive an October visit to Ed Oliver and Houston, it could be in position to win its division when UCF comes to visit in the regular-season finale.

you dont make the last out at 3rd.  With 2 outs you send the runner home, unless its an easy out.

yes, this is true. I got a little mixed up on the saying. I still see it as a hindsight is 20/20 situation. I'm sure CBM gave it to the third base coach because hes paid to make the right call, all the time. But I am also sure CBM said something the Chatfield about needing to make something happen with the bases juiced, he is a middle of the order guy who is expected to drive in runs. If he does that all is well, since he didn't, it all falls back on the coach for not sending the runner. It was just a missed opportunity all the way around. But as i didn't see the play either, it is what it is, hopefully all parties took it as a lesson learned.

I'm with you. Not that I'm scared of UF more than any other #1 seed, I just think getting out of town for our regional would let us play a little more loose.

That’s true. Getting out of Florida could have a relaxing effect. But I also just don’t see Singer and Kowar losing in one regional or either of them losing twice. So to me they are the hardest 1 to get through. I saw yesterday where the guys at D1 named them as one of his four guarantees to go to Omaha. I would say the same thing about Standford and Oregon State but we don’t have to worry about going west right now.

I think the AAC metric ( since 2013) is interesting, for in conference games. USF is 24-16 and UCF is 27-13. Little or no difference in my view.

Little to no difference is right. Half of the people outside of these two fan bases can’t even tell us apart. If that doesn’t scream little to no difference, I don’t know what else does.

The difference between us and them is two conference championships and two NYD bowl wins. This, in my opinion, is significant.

If two seasons is all it takes to even the score, I don't consider it significant. One good recruiting class could even the score and some. That's just not that significant is the big picture to me.

Especially, when in between those two seasons, they went 6-18.

Again, I wont make the case that we are clearly superior, to say that are is just as flawed IMO.

Obviously I'm biased but being in the AAC for 5 years together has resulted in 3 conference titles and 2 NY6 bowl wins for UCF and 0 of each for USF, who has a head start access to BCS bowls.

Also, only using the last 3 years is a little shady since it happens to coincide with when Coach T revived you guys and we imploded. If you look at all 5 AAC years it's USF 35-27 and UCF 42-24. Which honestly, that's not that big of a difference. But the conference titles and major bowl wins are.

UCF is 4-5 in bowls, so the question is, does beating Auburn completely eradicate losing 31-13 to Arkansas state the year before? I don't think it does.  You can't use the argument that UCF wasn't pumped up for the game because they were 0-12 the year before and were probably pretty happy to be in a bowl game.

In the end I just don't think there is sufficient evidence to suggest that UCF has "passed" us by.  Equal ground ok, but us in the rear view mirror? crazy talk.

Our wins are all against some terrible teams, and who are you to say that UCF wasn't the National Champion last year?

We played in the same conference all three years. So whats your point? They went 0-12 in the AAC for crying out loud. I'm not the one saying they aren't, the organization they play for is saying it.

Not so fast my friend, they are certainly in the drivers seat but they do have to play UCF at home and UConn on the road no guarantees of series wins there and all though no guarantees on our side i like our road better than theirs @ WichitaSt, @ Cincy.

We have to make up two games, which means we either have to sweep one and win both or they have  get swept or lose both. I don’t think UCF can beat them and don’t think Uconn will sweep them. I don’t trust all of that happening. We haven’t shown that we can win three of three.

  13. top 25 chat with D1 baseball regarding AAC teams

How do you see the AAC shaping out? Are there teams that are guaranteed a regional spot already (Uconn, USF, ECU)? Can Wichita really get into a regional being under .500 in the AAC?

    php0avx8xkendallrogers-150x150.jpg
    Kendall Rogers:

    Bob,
I think we all at D1B still feel pretty good about the teams you mentioned being in the postseason, while I’d also throw UCF into that mix, though not a total slam dunk at this point. As for WSU, I don’t care what its RPI is, I don’t think the Shockers are getting in if they finish 3-4 games under .500 in the AAC. I’m fascinated to see how they finish the regular season. They certainly look the part in person.

How much did the sweep by Houston hurt ECU’s hosting chances?

    php0avx8xkendallrogers-150x150.jpg
    Kendall Rogers:

Pirate — I still think ECU is in fine shape right now to host a regional. ECU has some very good front-line wins, including a series win over North Carolina, along with a good overall resume. But there’s no doubt that series sweep to UH hurt their resume. They’re likely out of a top eight for now and hosting isn’t as much of a slam dunk as it was a few days ago.

Can Houston get an at large bid? I think they can

    php0avx8xkendallrogers-150x150.jpg
    Kendall Rogers:

    Eric,
I think Houston would still be in the tournament even without the auto bid as of today. Yes, I’d like to see the #Coogs improve that 50 RPI, but 11 wins vs. RPI Top 50 is loud and they obviously lead the American at the moment by a couple of games. UH controls its own destiny, IMO.
