  1. The general consensus outside of USF seems to be that the Gators just aren't good.  While they may be overhyped, they're still a bigger team with loads of SEC talent on paper. Judging by what we've seen from us we had no business competing with them, but it really does look like something clicked.  USF was very well coached on Saturday.  If that continues, we're going to be good. We absolutely have to build on it.

If I see a title and don't click on it because I don't like the subject, am I "muting" someone?  I didn't take away their ability to speak, I used judgement and discretion and instead of "silent cancelling", whatever that is, I let them speak without challenge or debate.  I am not obligated to read every post from every one.  And it is not always - enriching to do so, shall we say.

It's the same with the ignore button.  I'm not 'cancelling' anyone.

It's quite literally just ignoring someone.  People are free to say what they want but it doesn't mean someone has to listen. Cancelling someone would be banning them from the forum.

Gerry is bigger and didn't shy away from contact last night, but McClain has more big play possibilities with his legs.  He has more speed.  He ran for his life last year.  Gerry has been very unimpressive so far.  I would be getting Byrum Brown ready to play if I were Scott.  The defense isn't good enough to have Gerry give the other team 10 or so points every game.

“McClain has more big play possibilities with his legs.”

I’m sorry, what? 100% hypothetical and based on zero evidence. His final two games at USF he had negative rushing yards. GB just had a 100 yard rushing game against a ranked SEC team on the road. Don’t even try to blame all of the bad rushing play from TM on OLine, considering you can go back and easily watch how bad his decision making was. This OLine, who is largely the same as last year, didn’t magically get that much better overnight.

The recency bias on this board is astounding considering how many members have degrees.

Timmy was an awful decision maker (yes, as a true freshman for what that’s worth) and relied primarily on his legs which got him into more trouble than not. We saw concrete evidence that his running didn’t amount to much.

GB has been a bit antsy with putting force on his throws. The vast majority of them heading in the right direction and hitting receivers right in the hands; receivers just weren’t/aren’t catching these 50/50 balls. That can be corrected. He made A TON of plays last night that I’m confident Timmy just wouldn’t have made.

Considering the praise this coaching staff and team is receiving for last night’s game, people are choosing to forget that the coaches went with GB for a myriad of transparent reasons. It was made clear early in camp and coaches and players are on record making it clear that GB was the leader (and best player) for the team at QB.

Rewatching the game and not even 10 minutes in we had at least two missed catches. One was Battie on a slant that was directly to him in stride, and the other was questionable to Weaver who had to jump and try to get it, but still hit both hands and went through them. Honestly tired of the GB hate. I’m not defending his bad throws when he’s definitely made more than a few, but to say “I don’t think he’s the guy” when he’s the most talented QB we’ve had since Flowers is just a dumb, ill informed take. He was a large reason we were even in the game last night.

Clothing gets fans engaged. Just think about that. Winning would get our fans more engaged. Having some bad ass tradition reflected on social media would get fans engaged. We have clothing for engagement. That shows how low we are.

I’m not arguing that winning doesn’t get fans engaged. They don’t have to be mutually exclusive. A social media presence is important for any team in college football unless you’re someone like Alabama.  Winning is important, too, but that’s not controlled by social media. Whether you agree or not, high school players and a solid portion of fans enjoy seeing things like this.

I also choose to not be like everyone else. Maybe being different helps us out in the long run. We don’t need to be like UCF, we need to figure out our game plan and become the better USF. Time for this administration to really hit the books are start analyzing. What are the real traditions that matter as we build the stadium. How can we sell those to prospective students and how can we get them to new heights at USF. Now is the time to be different in our approach.

Cool, Cycle.  Unfortunately or fortunately, whichever way you want to look at, there is a pretty big presence of fans on social media. That's pretty important for our team.

Yeah. This tradition can burn. Let’s keep it simple and straight forward. Less crap for the team to worry about. Get them focused on winning football games.

A large portion of schools in the country do it, regardless if they're good or bad.  It gets fan engagement on social media and recruits like seeing these things as well.   Pretty sure the social media team is damned if they do and damned if they don't.

  8. So Scott said there was a communication issue on defense because they didn’t expect BYU to run up tempo the way they did? I’m sorry, what? How do you not have a plan to adjust to up tempo when a large portion of teams in college run it? What about 2-minute drill? Are we just screwed when that happens? I know exactly what I’m doing it in an opposing offense now. This is a really, really bad look.

Is this guy even on our team? Serious question. Is he 24 and can't crack a starting lineup or is he sitting on his couch making comments?

I can’t tell if you’re serious or not…Kegler played significant minutes for us last season. He just graduated last year. A large portion of former players from recent years still keep in contact with the current players.

  10. This is more than fans just ranting. Players were involved, too.  It’s year three and we need to start winning, especially with how crucial things are with realignment. You can’t fault these people for being mad when losing has become a norm. They hype during pre season was the biggest I’ve seen it in a long time, and then we go out and let up 28 unanswered points in the first quarter alone. Fans want hope, and Saturday night there was very little of that.
