This is 100 percent about Battie, there's no question about it. I'm curious if his dad (who I've seen very active on Twitter in the past) acknowledges it at all. I didn't like him leaving at the time, but understood it, as that's what college football is now in the portal era, and he has a chance to prove himself in the premiere CFB conference. But knowing it went down this way (allegedly) feels gross and changes my entire view of it.
There are no rules from preventing these situations playing out like this either:
1.) USF NIL collective actually raises 100k for Battie
2.) After spring practice Auburn still needs a RB, offer him 250k to transfer
3.) He takes it, now has 350k and USF fans just spent 100k on nothing
Until there are some type of regulations around this it doesn't feel right breaking our entire NIL budget for a few players when they can just transfer anyway. I'd rather every player on the roster be getting 10k than the best 8 players getting 100k.

Wow assuming this is about Battie this changes my tune on NIL. If a 1-11 G5 team can't keep their leading running back without 250k I don't think we even try to keep our stars.
We just have to spread it out so everyone on the roster gets a nice chunk of change and focus on the culture of the team and system the coach puts in place. Make everyone look like system players so its not a big deal to lose these guys

Camping World in Orlando and the Jags stadiums both revealed renovation renderings today. Both included roofs for shading.

70ish ranked defense will be a huge improvement from the worst FBS in college football over the last 3 years. Hopefully all the new big bodies, linebackers, and defensive back transfers perform with the new coaching staff.
We had the 75th ranked defense the year before Jeff Scott got here. Returned a bunch of top contributors from that side of the ball like Boyles, Nick Roberts, Bentlee Sanders, KJ, Grier, Smoke Davis, Yates, etc.
Scott immediately then had the #122 defense the next year and players production on that side of the ball immediately dropped off a cliff or they were pushed to the portal for attitude reasons. Those that were went on to have great years elsewhere. The defense never showed improvement under his tenure.
I maintain that Scott had no clue about situational football, scouting on defense, game prep on defense, etc. And replacing him with a new CEO for the program will show an immediate bump on that side of the ball. Attitude is so important on defense and Scott had no urgency or attitude to pass on to the players. Our defense I guarantee will be top 90 this year in points allowed just because we don't have that man leading the program anymore, if its not I pledge to donate the dollar equivalent to that ranking to USF athletics.

BOT agenda for 6/13 when they plan to approve the 200 million dollar debt plan just got posted.
Mentions they are adding over 600 premium seats to the 2018 feasibility studies suggestion so they can offer a wider range of premium seat options.
QuoteCSL estimated that a new on-campus stadium could generate $20.5million in net operating revenue and incur approximately $5.3 millionin operating expenses, resulting in net operating income of up toapproximately $15.2 million in the first year of operations. Afteraccounting for approximately $1.8 million in existing net income atRaymond James Stadium, it is estimated that adjusted net operatingincome of up to approximately $13.4 million could be generated.
QuoteAthletic Pledged Revenues are projected at $26,541,000 in FY23-24 and$27,311,955 in FY24-
Also makes it seem like the rec field being moved work is starting ASAP this summer, but then later on keeps mentioning design work on the stadium started in October 2022 and construction for that project starts in October 2023.

It seems likely the PAC12 and ACC will be fighting for their lives.
The biggest brands of both those conferences, the Big 12 scoops up the best leftovers. Then the remaining teams from the PAC and ACC grab the top of the MWC and AAC to make some conference like this is the most likely outcome i've seen.

I think the MK and/or someone in the stadium group has mentioned that...
FAQ mentions future expansion is going into the planning

I don't like to speculate, but if FSU goes to SEC, which I hope they do, it seems Miami and USF would be a no-brainer for them. Wouldn't they want a presence against the SEC for recruiting, TV, Winter conferences ( ) etc in one of the largest states in the US of A? This seems like if USF had its **** together, it would be a natural. But, I'm biased. Then again a 35K stadium might not be attractive.
Northwestern is building a new stadium that has 35k capacity so that may not be an issue

Saw Hillsborough County is the #1 destination for people moving out of Illinois from 2009-2013. Looks like most people in the Midwest move down 41 to the St Pete/Tampa/Sarasota area while most people from the Northeast move to the Atlantic coast of Florida

Power5 is what I value over Aau because I want usf to be a top 25 program in football. Now is the ACC cares about asu status invite usf and ND in asap( highly unlikely). We are familar with besting miami, Clemson, ND and Fsu. Sometimes you need to go back to what works to make usf successful . The further we distance ourselves from UCF the better. We rolled out the red carpet and allowed them to jump usf in sports.
Was thinking about this. We should just focus on a Miami rivalry moving forward
Both AAU schools with similar emphasis on the med schools, both cities have a similar food culture, both fanbases understand the struggle of playing in a huge NFL stadium far from campus. Our helmet logos are pretty similar to make for cool graphics. 2 biggest media markets in the state.
We already play them in 2024, 2025, and 2028. After that there will be 9 total matchups and they'll be one of the teams we've played the most in our history

Anecdotally, going to a Packers/Bears vs Bucs game or that Wisconsin @ USF game in 2019 shows you how many midwesterners are in the area. For any of those cases there ends up being 20-30k fans from the other team. Pics from that 2019 game show that a bit.
In the Tampa Bay area there are 10+ Packers bars

I saw a good analogy: US News rankings are like Yelp while getting an AAU membership is like getting a Michelin star.

Looks like Western Kentucky had to replace about 90% of their defensive 2-deep from last year. Could turn this into a shootout

How do we stack up against FSU now? I’ve believe for a long time they are overrated academically and now we are both AAU and preeminent. When will USF pass FSU in public perception?
FSU is not AAU. As for passing them in academic public perception that probably wouldn't happen unless we pass them in the US news rankings as a top 25 public university. Those rankings are flawed but a lot of kids use them when applying for schools

Tampa Bay business leaders, community partners share excitement in USF’s AAU membership
The world’s brightest faculty, staff and students are historically known to gravitate to AAU universities located in metropolitan areas. Tampa Bay business and community...Quote"Achieving AAU status creates a waterfall effect for USF. Increasing the research portfolio attracts top-caliber faculty and labels existing faculty as experts in their fields. That creates exciting new opportunities for high-performing students, which builds our workforce pipeline. It's a huge win for everyone in our area."

And hopefully our new OCS renderings. USF on the move
**** hadn't even thought of that. September 16th is around the time we should see them. Why not break them out when playing at 3:30 on ABC.

I would take the PAC in a heartbeat if it was the only offer. While not my first choice, the important thing would be getting the hell out of the AAC.
only issue as a fan would be a lot of late starts.
When we played at BYU a few years ago it was a 10:15 EST start time.

Big 10 is not likely, but I do think AAU membership does strengthen our case for the ACC, Big 12, and Pac. Brand new OCS will help our case to.
The amazing thing about this is (while there were some rumors), AAU membership announcement this year was really unexpected. Hopefully one of these days when I click on the realignment topic there will be an announcement of us joining the ACC.
Really proud to be a USF Bull today!
Not likely at all. I'd put USF to the Big 10 by 2040 at a 1% chance. But if you'd have asked me in 2021 what are the odds USF is an AAU member and playing in an on campus stadium in 5 years I would have put that at a 0% chance.

Ambitious indeed, but looking at the rankings now, there are 4 schools tied at #38 and then 5 we're tied with at #42. Break the tie and leap a couple of the #38ers and we're in the top 40 already.
looks like quite a few schools above us aren't AAU too. Curious to see where we end up in the first rankings after this

Serious question so what now? I always thought this would be the goal we would talk about forever and strive towards only to have the carrot continue to move but here we are as the dog that caught the mail truck. That President that was here for the cup of coffee really should have stayed as I imagine this is not a bad thing to have on one’s CV.
Top 25 Public University is one goal I've heard we have.
With how much debt we have for the stadium a consistent athletic department has to be a goal. You can't give the Jeff Scott's year 3's when you have to be selling enough tickets to pay off the stadium.

FSU/Clemson/UNC/VT to SEC
Miami/ND/UVA/ ends up in the Big 0 along with some west coast schools
USF and UConn join with Pitt, Syracuse, Louisville, NC State, Wake, BC, Duke, and Georgia Tech to form...The New Big East.
9 game conference schedule in football, playing each team in the conference.
Merge with the Big East in basketball like the old days to have a super basketball conference with the tourney in MSG
