just curious why would we be worth double UCF? They will have much more exposure in the Big 12.
Because UCF's deal is just for their stadium rights. The ideal i pitched there would be stadium rights + bowl game rights.
UCF gets around 1.8 million for their stadium naming rights. Outback paid 8 million a year to sponsor the Outback bowl.
The idea would be pitching Outback that they can pay less than 50% of what they paid for the Outback bowl and still have a bowl game in the same city, but also have the name of the stadium.

But, that's the thing. You want to think that, but we're not. We're a tad better than xCJS, but worse or the same as every year since smartphones have been a thing.

Context is key. Willie was recruiting with the Big East still fresh on everyones mind. Charlie Strong after year 1 was recruiting to a team that had just won 28 of their last 34 games.
Golesh is recruiting to a team that has won 8 of its last 52 games, and play in a G5 conference that just got weaker. All that considered his 2024 class being better than an average Charlie Strong class so far is a great sign.

Wonder if that means SMU is going too?
Who would AAC replace them with? Coastal App State?
If we lose SMU and the MWC loses SDSU the first call better be to Boise, CSU, and AF to see if they've changed their minds on leaving.
East: USF, ECU, Navy, Tulane, FAU, UAB, Temple, Charlotte
West: Memphis, Boise, CSU, AF, UTSA, North Texas, Rice, Tulsa
Would separate the conference as the premier step below the power conferences. 8 teams that averaged 25k+ in attendance last year. Winner of this conference likely has the inside track at a playoff spot once it expands to 12 teams

Are they going independent until something better comes along?

Have there been any interview or players/parents tweets that talk about how this coaching staff compares to the last one?

They'll be better just because they can't really be worse. For Jeff Scott's 3 years they let up 38.6 PPG and were a bottom 10 defense.
If they just had the 100th best defense that would be around 30 PPG. Do that and I'll be happy with Golesh's year 1 efforts on that side of the ball. I think that could get us 5-6 wins

$138MM total, $116MM in private debt.
Also that CFL stadium is really nice. Limited expansion capability but looks like it would check all of the boxes for us otherwise. May be in the minority here but I'd rather have expansion capabilities towards 50-60k than nice, permanent shade. If we go with shade at 35k, I hope it wont be too expensive to adjust it when we expand.
I could see us have shade around a horseshoe shape, and then when its time to expand do like Louisville and just add an entire endzone section to that open area.

I think Kansas and Oklahoma State are still candidates to move up at some point as well. That said FSU, Oregon, and Clemson are the biggest fishes yet to be caught.
Kansas is the name left out in realignment talks that shocks me all the time, their brand is huge and right outside a huge metro area.
FSU football+basketball account twitter followers = 540k
Kansas football+basketball account twitter followers = 1.05 million
Plus an academic, culture, and regional fit when you have all those midwest/plains schools already

I was going to ask. With all of these covered mockups, wouldn't a hurricane launch that covered section into one of the new live/work/play apartments down they plan on building down the road?
Hard Rock in Miami has even more shade than this so its definitely possible. Shade in Florida will be more expensive than this Canadian stadium for that reason though no doubt

If ours just ends up being this and the extra 60 million is inflation and having an attached football ops facility i'd be happy

Lot of people pitch Publix as the perfect stadium sponsor, I still think its Outback. They cancelled their bowl subscription because it was 8 million a year for 1 game a year. (this happened right after our stadium was announced, coincidence? probably)
We could pitch them on just paying around 3.5-4 million a year and be the first name to ever be attached to this stadium. Probably going to be shaped like a bowl so they can just call it "The Outback Bowl" and there's already the name recognition.
UCF gets under 2 million a year for their stadium, so for that price we'd also have to include letting them host a bowl game in our stadium. But again, in the same city under the same name the bowl would immediately hold some name recognition.
50% of the cost and they just make the bowl game smaller in prestige but in the same city, and get a stadium named after them year round.

Yeah but I do believe USF may have other & better opportunities coming. So we will see.
were the fat girl that just started smelling good for whatever reason, just because a lot of people notice us doesn't mean they'll want us.
I'll take whatever power conference i can get still

this dude has been in a back and forth with Baker on twitter about how the Big 12 was willing to add 6 teams back in 2021 but only 4 fit the profile and they told USF and Memphis to go fix their facilities then they'll get in.
He quote tweets some tweets from 2 years ago saying the same thing and now USF and Memphis have both approved stadium projects so who knows
-
Did anyone here watch the stream? Saw this tweet and one about Law alluding to more is coming. Wondering if it was worded in a way that they may be hinting at something in regards to a new conference or just trying to communicate there is still work to be done to reach our goals?

I've seen people on here mention they have heard renderings will come late summer or early fall (August/September). Is that from an actual source or rumors from other message boards or social media platforms?

Wasn't the the rendering they had for when Tampa was trying to be a host for the summer Olympics?
Here is that one, very similar

Countdown to Renderings!
If the BOT just signed off on 340 million they have seen what its going to look like. I'm guessing tweaks must still be getting ironed out before they show it off

I like any coach with a name like Biff Poggi. I don't put much stock in the preseason rags, but the AAC doesn't look like a dumpster fire, in particular the top six. Looking forward to this season getting under way. June's a long way from kickoff, but it will be here before you know it.
idk FAU is a pretty trash team to be in the top 6 of a conference. They just won 5 games three years in a row in a league worse than the AAC.
Now they have to replace a QB who had 55 TD's and over 6000 yards with only 12 picks over 2 years, and they lose their best players on defense, but because they hire a coach that 10 other teams passed on they're supposed to be a year 1 success story?

If you search specific funds for "stadium" there is "USF Stadium Project (#509015)"
Is this for the new football stadium? And is this recently posted? Feel like i've searched this before and didn't see anything

Quote“You start having a losing record, and that could torpedo itself very quickly,” Fried said.Even if the Bulls start winning after four consecutive losing seasons, other issues could arise. The projections call for $60 general tickets. Fried questioned whether that’s affordable for students.
1.) We have won 4 games in 3 years. "start" having a losing record would change things with attendance makes me think this person hasn't even glanced at our situation. We are at rock bottom with performance related attendance, especially considering its 30 minutes from campus
2.) We aren't even doing student fees to fund this stadium. I highly doubt we are going to charge $60 per game for students to attend the game if we aren't having them help fund it.
This article feels like a hit piece but he got the weirdest sources and didn't have an editor to fact check anything. The times hating on USF is nothing new, but this is a new low in terms of just making up reasons to rain on a parade.

"Larson, an associate professor at the University of Oklahoma’s Department of Health Exercise Science" what a ******* source for this. I swear Baker had an idea for an article then went out to get sources that would say things to support it. How is this person qualified to give input on this stadium anymore than some random person in Tampa?
It mentions the projections are intentionally rosy, but if you look at the document attached to the agenda about the stadium study and the financials its made very clear that these are very conservative estimates on the revenue and projections.
-
its established academics are against spending on sports in general for universities so that has to be considered.
But concern #1 in the doc makes no sense.
QuoteProjections from a consulting group show $20.5 million in revenue against $5.3 million in expenses during the first year (expected to be 2026). Factor in the money USF would have earned from games at their current home, Raymond James Stadium, and the leftover $13 million isn’t enough to cover the debt.
20.5-5.3 is 15.2 million, did he then subtract the money we aren't earning from Raymond James instead of adding it to get 13 million? Am I missing something?

The updated color scheme is grea! This would look great on that OCS, as well.
The IPF, Track and Field, and Soccer stadiums look much improved.
Once the water tower is done... USF will look fresh.
The BOT agenda for approving the stadium next week mentioned the stadium will have the same style look as other buildings in the athletic department. Matt Baker from TBT also mentioned on twitter that renderings have been passed around in recent board meetings about the stadium. He's not sure how close to the official product they are but wouldn't be surprised if they released them at the meeting to officially approve the stadium
