If FSU/Clemson/UNC/UVA do bounce for the SEC and we are one of the backfills who else would y’all want to make the jump with us?
my top 3 would be Memphis, UConn, Tulane/SMU
dream scenario would be WVU, Cincinnati, UCF.

highest ranked recruit since 2012, our last year in the Big East
taking it a step further, ranking only recruits that have committed to USF since Taggart took over Golesh now has #1, #6, #8, and #9 before even coaching a game

I remember when he had the guy that was like over 100% committed then decomitted.
Deion Sanders? Or was that 95% committed to come here?

So far one conclusion can be made of the new era
Golesh's recruiting + OCS on the horizon + finished IPF >>>> Scott's recruiting + better conference

If & when USF gets called up to ACC, PAC12 or BigTen we may miss this rivalry
I hate UCF, but its nice to have a team on the schedule where regardless of how good the teams are the fans and players take pride in winning that 1 game at least.
Our new conference sucks, but wouldn't mind loathing a team in there so much we circle that on the calendar. And FAU seems most likely given proximity. Having some extra curriculars around the game like a huge festival on the beach would be nice to distract me from the fact we'd be playing FAU

The Snowbird Bowl? - could make a sick trophy at least
The Battle for Alligator Alley? - winner throws up their signage all over alligator alley
The Offshore Classic? - both teams are from areas famous for their fishing, week of the game there can be a fishing tourny between the fanbases in the area the games played

After Chatting with the players do they seem to be more engaged to success and willing in doing what it takes to win ? Also how are they looking compared to the size and muscle over the last 3-5 seasons. We always looked undersized. Any key points to share ? I know that Alexis guy is tall and fast. Hopefully he makes it on the field and some some success. He kind of reminds of of Ajou with size and speed. I think him Seth Jones and the Minnesota transfer should help out receiving core.
was also wondering if there were any questions asked to returning players about any differences between the last coach and the new one

They seem more nervous than i'd have expected, sounds like their defense has a lot of question marks. Also their coach has never really had an impressive opener, hopefully that continues...
2019: Lost 35-28 to FCS Central Arkansas
2020: Lost 35-21 to Louisville
2021: Beat FCS UT-Martin 56-21, but were only up 28-14 at halftime
2022: Beat FCS Austin Peay 38-27, but were only up 21-20 entering the 4th quarter

Sounds like the networks don’t believe in the product THAT much. If you aren’t SEC/Big10 they don’t need more inventory than 14 teams provides.
14 teams = 7 games every weekend, that fills up 2 weeknight games, 3 games on your networks main channel on Saturday, and 2 on a secondary channel

What I think is more likely than us in the PAC12 or ACC:
-everyone in the PAC besides Oregon State and Washington State get picked up by the Big 10 or Big 12
-everyone in the ACC besides Wake, Gtech, BC, and Duke get picked up by the Big 10, SEC, or Big 12
Those leftovers plus the top of the AAC and MWC form a “best of the rest” conference to try and separate themselves from the G5. This is where we slide in. Something like
west division: OSU, WSU, Fresno, SDSU, CSU, Boise, SMU, UNLV
east division: Gtech, BC, Wake, Duke, USF, Memphis, Tulane, Uconn

What does the AAC look like if we don't apply, and the PAC takes: SMU, Tulane, Memphis and ECU for an Eastern division, and the AAC fills in with FIU, Texas State, Ga State, and Marshall.
Break it into pod scheduling too and travel disadvantage could be minimized
Pod 1: Oregon, Washington, OSU, WSU
Pod 2: Stanford, Cal, Fresno State, SDSU
Pod 3: Arizona, ASU, Utah, Boise State
Pod 4: USF, Memphis, SMU, Tulane

Just curious,... how is this good for USF?
I disagree with the sentiment it’s good for us
BUT if I were to try to spin it like that…this does show the conferences aren’t that short sighted. Colorado has been terrible recently.
makes me feel better about USF still being towards the top of the pecking order of G5’s
-
TDS guys released their first podcast post getting let go by SB nation
they mentioned Jeff Scott had a positive spin on everything and Golesh is a straight shooter, and him telling some guys what he thought their game was lacking forced a couple transfers
Take any talk pre games played with a grain of salt but think I’d rather have the guy who tells it like it is
-
New rules are going to hurt the triple option so much Army is moving away from it. Navy replaced one of their best coaches in recent memory but keeping it
Not familiar with the rule change but most media members are talking like Navy are idiots for trying to keep it so feel better about our game vs them

This situation would have really annoyed me a few years ago. Couldn’t care less about getting left behind when we have won 1 conference game in 3 years. Let’s kick ass where we are before worrying about getting tougher opponents

To summarize:
We have a lot of new players and a lot of questions.
USF is serious about an is investing in football.
The players will put in the work.
"Really, really cool!"
BTW. just as an observation: When GB and Rashad Chaney appeared to talk, they looked like men compared to most of the players representing other teams. Hopefully we are bigger and stronger this year.
We’ll find out soon, but based on appearances the new S&C coach looks like a psychopath.
Which is probably what you want, summer conditioning in Tampa should be so hard the players can’t wait for camp because the grind of a season is easier

On the transit topic, there is a pretty huge parking lot shuttle system a mile away at Busch Gardens…wonder if it would be feasible to get them to let us use their overflow lots and shuttles on game days.
they regularly move thousands of people pretty efficiently

On top of this UAB has to replace the entire offensive line that blocked for that star RB

I have to see it to believe it. UAB looked pretty good last season at times. I’m still predicting that as a loss for USF. However I do believe USF will beat them at home in 2024
They are a 7 win CUSA team replacing their starting QB and a RB who had 1700 yards and 20 TD’s. And have no coach on either side of the ball with play calling experience at the FBS level
if we are winning 5+ games that has to be one of them

UAB may be a more winnable game that I had originally thought.
Split Zone Duo had Washington Post and SI writers preview the AAC. The way they described the UAB situation was wild, they both had 100% confidence it was going to be a disaster and they are going to be terrible.
Not only does their HC have 0 college coaching experience, the OC he hired has no experience as even a position coach at the FBS level. He has been a GA/analyst for 9 years and now his first chance is as a coordinator.
the DC he hired has no college experience at all. He was Dilfer’s DC at the high school he’s coming from

Wow. So this guy must have had some deep hatred for this program even back then. I had no idea that he wrote a negative article after we won that game.
It almost feels like the Times has had an agenda against USF. Our local AP poll voter shows the most bias against our own team. Idk if the Times is funded by UF/FSU alum but for it to always have a negative slant against us for 20+ years through good times and bad and different writers is ridiculous.

Conference realignment "Rumors" "tweets" "etc"

Did some digging through the FSU board to see what the buzz is about. Sounds like ESPN has been trying to re-negotiate with the ACC to give them a marginally better deal. ACC is at 30m a year right now, Big12 just signed for 31m a year, and SEC/Big10 are over double that. ESPN realized they could give FSU/Clemson/UNC a raise and still have good value on major brands compared to if they jumped to a big 2 conference.
The ACC refused as they were afraid to re-open anything related to the GOR and teams finding a way to get out. FSU's lawyers now think the ACC did not negotiate in its fiduciary role on the behalf of all its schools and can sue to get out.
