  1. Atlanta is a WAY worse town with fair weather sports fans. Watch a Braves or Hawks game when they aren't near the top of the standings. There is nobody there. That's why they've lost the NHL...TWICE! Tampa/USF's issue, IMO, is that there are too many transplants who have their loyalties elsewhere, and most alumni didn't have football when they were on campus and are not engaged with the university. I graduated in 1995 and there are friends of mine who couldn't name 3 kids on the roster. I ask them why they don't care about USF football (when I know they are football fans in general) and I'm told 1) there wasn't football when we were here, so I don't really care, or 2) they're not in a big conference so they'll never be able to play any meaningful games.
  2. Not necessarily. Would you take QF as an "undeveloped" player over someone with less natural talent that came through the "system"?
  3. That was another one of his "differences" - the resources poured into TX high school football vs. Florida. The way I took the piece was that while FL may have great athletes, TX has a great system for developing players from middle school to college (which sounded like what he prefers).
  4. Great short story during the broadcast last night about how Gilbert pointed out to the broadcast team the differences in Florida kids vs Texas kids. Basically said that Texas kids are indoctrinated to the local HS playbook starting in 6th grade and that players are "developed" locally over years until they reach high school. Said he worked with middle schoolers when he was a HS coach to prep them for the move to HS ball. Sounds like he doesn't have any desire to change his ways for Florida kids who are more athletic and may not fit into his scheme as he wants to "develop" players. Wish I had the clip to go with it, but I was so disgusted with the game that I deleted it from the DVR as soon as I finished watching.
  5. Considering that nobody shows up to our games, he's definitely not having to deal with fans at this point...
  6. Most of the time your record speaks to the type of team you are. Not in this case we may be 9-1, but we are an undercoached team, playing a mediocre schedule, who has won most games simply on athletic ability of our players. There may have been a few moments here or there throughout the season where the coaching/adjustments made a difference, but honestly we just had better athletes the our opponents most nights. With little exception, maybe ECU, I don't understand why were not able to step on the gas and pull away from some far inferior opponents. I guess the coaching staff just does not have the killer instinct. Conservatism on a Tony Dungy level at this point. Do enough on offense to win the game and rely on the defense to continue to run out onto the field after 3 to 5 play drives after multiple runs between the tackles and a streak pattern. My level of frustration makes me feel like we should be 1-9, not the other way around. That said, all can be forgiven (I guess) with a couple more wins (highly unlikely). Hate to sound like such a Debbie Downer, but I just see us getting our rear ends handed to us next week by that Orlando team. Good on them if they do it. Their coach hasn't shied away from running a high powered offense. I guess we maybe can see why CCS got run from UT. Maybe it wasn't him necessarily, it was his crappy OC.

  8. After the win at Doak, this is next on my list of best games.

  12. I just completed this quiz. My Score 40/100 My Time 95 seconds
  13. If they don't open up the playbook, not only will they lose some games, the coaches may lose the team. These players believe in each other and if the coaches don't believe in them, there will be some trouble in the locker room.
