It kind if makes me think the last coaching  staff did not teach the defense much of anything like techniques to tackle or get by a block.

Most of CJS's time here makes me wonder if he ever really understood what a defense is supposed to do.

No the answer is no. He had no clue really how to do run a program. His record and culture shift to bottom feeder proves it.

To be fair to Jeffy, he did a fine job rebuilding the offense after Chucky ruined it. It took a couple years, but the offense this year was much better than it has been. I assume a big piece of that has to do with Trickett (which is why he was the one assistant I was hoping to see retained). But Jeff never did figure out the defense thing. Whether it was just not being able to recruit the front 7, or game planning, or all of it. I don't have the answer, but they should have been better than they were.

And to add to this, how to call a play that mattered on offense. Great guy, bad XO understanding. And that is what did him in.

Quality WR coach and that is his peak.

Why is there still discussion on Coach Jeff Scott? He was a horrendous Head Coach who won a total of 4 games in 3 years! He contributed nothing positive to the football program and created a dumpster fire.

Golesh is actually doing a very good job and looks very organized and great recruiter too!

Only time will tell he better be a 100% upgrade or day 1 or AD mk will be in the hot seat.

I told you before to pull up the threads if you want to revisit.  But he had 6 TDs to no INTs in his last 2 and a half games before he was injured and he had an 18/7 ratio the prior year at Baylor sooooooooooooooo pretty sure he is a more that capable D1 QB ...... start apologizing 🤡

He also lost his job at Baylor to another young freshmen qb who out performed him. Similar to what happened when Brown took over last year. He had more talent and much better coaching at Baylor than USF.  His stats at USF put him in the bottom 50% of college quarterbacks. I think he is a quality person and is good guy to keep on the team to mentor the young quarterbacks. I just don't think he is the future or present of quarterbacks at USF. It is obvious you and I both care about USF athletics and we have different ways of expressing it.

This is getting borderline stupid, trying to convince that somehow GB wasn't starting qb worthy. Cherry picking works if it's done with relevance. His last 2.5 starts he threw at a 63% comp rate, with 6 td's and 0 int's, including games against a ranked Cincy team and the conference champion. He also ran 32 times at 7.8 ypc. Not sure how this all got started in a thread about the ocs but further "discussion" on this should go here ....

I used his  career stats as a starter at Usf ...

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
