it all started when leavitt chose not to play them anymore

There was absolutely no reason to play them ever again 0-4 and no more was where this manufactured “rivalry” was meant to end. If you play with **** you are going to get some on you and if you want a “rivalry” at all costs well the costs could be more than you realized. We had left them for dead in our rear view mirror and then decided you know what can really get us ahead? Going back and becoming a package deal with the road kill, everyone should have seen this coming and if Judy has been blackballing them that’s the smartest thing she ever did with athletics, changing that position is the problem not having it to begin with.

The big question? Can USF follow suit and get funding to build its own on-campus football stadium?

Only those who are satisfied with mediocrity are sad that Leavitt is gone.

We were stagnant. Opposing coaches knew our schemes. Yes, Leavitt didn't leave the right way - what's done is done though and that course can't be salvaged. Change was inevitable if we were going to take the next step. Unfortunately, the coaches we could have hired after Leavitt were afterthoughts. We could have had Mike Leach. We could have had Lane Kiffin. Instead, we took $10M from Texas and gave an opportunity to a coach that couldn't win at Texas with all their prestige and history. Think about it for a second. Texas paid us $10M to take Charlie Strong from them... he lost seven straight games in his second season and we extended his contract. WTF was our AD thinking at the time?

I'm willing to ride out the storm with Jeff Scott. COVID screwed him from the get go. College free agency hasn't helped his cause. Colleges attempting to make every athlete a social justice warrior has been a distraction. Scott needs to focus on football and needs our players to focus on football. If guys want to focus on other activities other than football, let someone else have their spot. We need to get back to the mentality Leavitt installed in each player. It may not be popular - but it's necessary if we want to start winning again.

We got pre eminence . They got a Big 12 invite. Your welcome from Judy and company.

That should be "you're" if we're going to be talking about our sterling academic reputation compared to the non-Big 12 invite.

CWT got the $$ and prob lots of it to boot. But-he failed at the game he supposedly loved. This is one of those shoulda woulda coulda moments: had he stayed at USF 5-6 years and built us into a winner or a conf championship then he could have taken the big money and tried the P5. Oh well...that thought was an exercise in futility...

He should have followed Petersen’s model when he coached Boise.

What a depressing thread....I can only hope that USF takes its athletics more serious...giving extensions blindly makes think  they have not.

It all starts at the top and our AD for the most part have been trash since the Holtz hire.

Cant really blame bad AD making bad hires...its par for the course.  Hopefully Scott gets things turned around...I really love to see him fix this.

I was thinking about him this week as well. Got railroaded out of USF as a scapegoat. Too bad, he bled USF as much as Leavitt.

Appears history is repeating itself...in more than one sport...But the outcome will be different (sarcasm intended)

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
