He takes charge and is a leader however without signing a waiver of liability, the season is toast.  It is too bad the kids are not mature enough to grasp the concept that the risk exposure is too great.  Anyone that gets sick will see $$ signs and file a lawsuit, no matter how well you execute your safety protocols, it will never be enough if someone gets sick and this is the reason we will be doing something else on Saturdays this fall.

Even if a waiver is signed it’s useless. Legally, a waiver can not replace negligence on the part of a second party. If someone got sick and more importantly died, the family would still have an excellent chance of winning as it’s almost impossible to contain the virus.

Statistically, they have a better chance collectively of getting a hangnail.

I would not say useless but your point is valid.  The player willing takes the risk when provided the option of sitting out.  This would mitigate but not eliminate the risk.  I feel they would sue even if they got sick for a couple days, they would claim a permanent disability from the illness due to safety protocols not being followed.

I had one last month and it was no joke, it got red and even collected puss, it was uncomfortable.

In an action for negligence one must demonstrate that the negligent act caused the damage. Regardless of whether you can legally waive your right to sue (there are differing opinions on that), good luck demonstrating you picked up your case of COVID-19 from football practice and not your trip to Publix to pick up a chicken tender sub.
