  1. I'm imagining a generation of kids screaming "Charlie Strong" at others on the playground as an expletive.
  2. I feel I should show solidarity and camaraderie and suffer like the rest of you.
  3. I've only seen their football performance criticized and that is fair to me. Nobody is saying they are gutless, or horrible people. They are merely saying that our players are not at the necessary talent level and are not performing at AAC level. These are not damning moral judgements.
  4. I like this, this is analogous to those who sat on our 7-0 start that one CCS season. Sure, alone the win/losses were spectacular, but the nuts and bolts of those 7-0 were ugly and everyone knew it was smoke and mirrors. McCloud may have up big numbers, but it came from those gimme passes and a big run. He doesn't have what it takes at this level. Like every other team left on our schedule because they are all a good 10 points better than ECU?
  5. This is crazy talk. It's clear that CCS left us not just with an empty cupboard, but a cupboard in arrears that has negative talent and owes a balance. CCS is completely to blame. He took a stacked team that should have won the conference and botched it and drove the program off the highest cliff he could find and maybe some day it will rise from the Marianas Trench he put it in. It's a crime he is still being paid and a joke anyone else has hired him. He is death to a program.
  6. Just finished reading this thread. My biggest concern is CJS continually giving McCloud more time than deserved. It's clear he doesn't have it. It's not as clear for the others. If he really is head and shoulders the best it's game over. Other than that, it's clear the paucity of talent we have will not allow us to do anything well.
  7. My life is busy and will go on. I try, but fail,to follow the wisdom of someone here who once said, to paraphrase, I'm an adult my emotional engagement lasts no more than an hour before the game to an hour after the game and often only the game time itself.
  8. As Tim Rice said "So famous so easily, so soon It's not the wisest thing to be" And now we pay for the early rise and the flashy big wins due to not getting them anymore and being demoted. The area has P5 expectations now and they can't be fulfilled.
  9. I'm going to hypothesize that USF football's existence will not hurt the school one bit if it were to end. My eyes and my anecdotal evidence say the student base doesn't care about college athletics, at USF and in general all over the country anymore. Heck, at my school we didn't care about our college athletics and that was 87-93. I keep saying the day of the homogeneous student body in big land grant universities where the students are 2nd and 3rd gen, and football is the big draw in the city other than bars is over. It's the alumni still buying into that era that has long past, like 70 year olds today thinking they can legislate the 50's back into existence.
  10. CCS makes big messes that are clearly more toxic than a reactor core gone wild and should be designated Superfund Cleanup Sites.
  11. This one is tough to argue against, especially because I've made the same point, Tampa has a perennially competitive hockey team, an ignored baseball team that from time to time over achieves and an NFL franchise that looks better and even in the bad years of which there are many they are NFL so they draw. Tampa also has a world class performing arts center that draws the best shows soonest, beaches and theme parks local and a short drive to Orlando for the big them parks. You really do have to be major league to attract the fans here.
  12. Noboby wants to listen because new coach is an immediate change. 3 years of recruiting is not an easy fix. The culture of this country is immediate gratification. There is no question to anyone unbiased who is watching the games that we do not have AAC level talent anymore. It's that simple. Even the simplest, risk-averse, minimize damage scheme is not going to help us.
  13. Only ESPN, Pitt and the P5 putting the walls up at that time did more to destroy USF football than CCS did. And it's close. CCS literally stole our money.
  14. And despite my high expectations, the board does not disappoint today. Haven't even read a single topic yet, but just the topic titles from the regulars do no disappoint! Also with ESPN+ I expect more Disney and less USF football because I'm already paying for ESPN(*) on my tv and not paying more to them.
  15. Covid is the fig leaf excuse for not wanting to go see two terrible teams.
  16. CJL or not, it was ESPN, Pitt, Syracuse who sealed our doom. CJL is small potatoes compared to the back stabbing they did on the Big East.
  17. That's why I said try to normalize for difficulty of competition. We would expect the QBs against ECU and the Citadel to have an easier go than those against any other team, and those against ND and UCF and even Cinci will have a hard go.
  18. That means one thing: Brybull just hit the game with all his money and moved the line.
