  1. Proper scheming and player motivation is half the job. You think the UCF game would have been down to the wire with that fantastic second half if Da Prato wasn’t giving every little bit of energy he had to the effort? Scott seldom if ever seemed personally engaged, and his schemes were blasé. We don’t need a rebuild of our culture, not roster.

  2. My sources are attempting to verify the rumored speculation that a potential understanding in principle between two unidentified parties may or may not be taking as long or longer than considered ideal, but they can't say for sure.

My source who texts with Deion regularly just told me that USF and Deion got close in discussions, but he wanted full control of the program and USF wasn't prepared to give him that. Also, the money was a little bit less than we wanted, but the control over the program is what he is really seeking.

Ehh, I’d trust this more if it were coming from an account registered a few hours ago.

I'm just saying that going for Deion feels like going after another bright shiny object. Do we even know if Deion can coach? Honestly, he's been coaching the equivalent of JV football the last few seasons.

Deion makes USF as much of an immediate and ongoing national storyline on his first day as we have been in a decade and a half. That alone is priceless.

Deion wants to make his case for an eventual FSU job. Well if he can’t make it at USF, then FSU is a pipe dream. And I think USF is much more within his wheelhouse than Colorado.

And I do think he would succeed here. Honestly, I think Deion Sanders falling into our laps would be stunningly, stupidly fortuitous.

  5. The most immediate upgrade we need to see next year isn't in roster building, or schematics, or results on the field. It needs to be a culture reset first and foremost, because otherwise there's no foundation to build upon. Whatever "culture" we ever had has been erased from memory. Deion would immediately set a new tone for the program to turn into a culture that can last after Deion is hired elsewhere. If we are to be so lucky.
