But greatly increases our chances of being out-coached by Tom Herman next year
I really agonized about including exactly that in my initial statement before deciding not to speak it into existence.

This adversely affects our chances of being coached by Tom Herman next year.

Time for us to move on.
Deion Branch time folks. 2x SB champ and 1x SB MVP, which not even the great Sandy-man could accomplish.
-
I’ve just heard that local legend Antonio Brown is no longer being considered for the position.
-
Update: Deion Sanders continues to close the gap with the conference realignment thread, the gap is now down to 2,387 pages. We’re making progress folks!

”The Gang Tries To Hire A Head Coach”

I’m starting to appreciate USF’s approach. If we’re just gonna end up looking for another HC in 3 years, let’s just wait the 3 years and save ourself the migraine today. It’s this kind of out-of-the-box thinking we’ve been lacking since the Woolard days.

Thought Chadwell was rumored to go to Liberty?
How would that even be considered a step up for Chadwell? Like who would turn down Georgia Tech (which it’s rumored Chadwell did) for freaking Liberty? Is Chadwell super duper religious or something?

Yes but you gotta figure how much more you might get coming in from extra seats sold and donations from the excitement of hiring him and if he starts to bring in top talent and starts winning
That's the argument for giving him $5m a year. Not for giving his assistants more than we've ever given anyone's assistants (by a fair margin). If that's the type of "control" he's seeking, I understand the reservations. $10m a year for an entire coaching staff while we're trying to save cash for a stadium is a tough pill.

You being serious with OutKick? It's a massive sports site...
No it's not lol.
6 minutes ago, Jim Johnson said:$5m for his staff?!?! That would be a big holdup... From what I can see, Scott's staff salary pool this year was $3.6m.
-
I know there's little benefit to promoting from within this failed coaching staff, but we'd probably save some serious $ that can go toward our facilities if we ride with Kerwin Bell for a few years.

BJ is not amused by the shenaniganizing shenaniganizers.

I’ve run out of patience. Fire Deion Sanders.

I have been reliably informed that the only remaining holdup to finalizing the deal is Deion’s insistence on re-opening the MSC Beef ‘O’ Brady’s. However, VPMK unwilling to relinquish control over things he has no control over.

You’re saying those are direct words from Deion to your source?
-
Like I said a couple days ago, all the reporting about Colorado offering Deion the job (clearly leaked by the Colorado camp to put public pressure on Deion to accept) showed that they were never his top choice.
If Deion was actually on campus today, that sounds like when Chuckles stopped by Tampa to finalize some points about two days before he was finally confirmed… but there were cameras waiting for Chucky Cheese at the airport. Remarkable that Prime would have been able to make it to our campus in secret…

Should it come to fruition... I hope you're right. I hope that in his time here, he returns as much in kind. We definitely need it. I'm just not sure that's the right longshot. I am comfortable in the minority. I back whomever we bring in.
What would be the right “longshot”?

Deion would be worth every freaking penny
Tom Allen to USF………

Joey is baselessly speculating (and not trying to hide it). Tom has 0 meaningful ties to current USF decision makers. He’s at his B1G alma mater. If he wanted to leave, I can’t imagine why he’d leave for a G5 school that’s been sub-.500 for half a decade.
