I'm high on the BB-Wilcox tag team this year.
Me to. B2 to Mitch is going to be something to see. The talent level on this team is crazy and I think they're going to get better as the season goes on. But I think we're actually lined up good for a fast impressive start.

I figured after 3 years of lurking that it was time to finally sign up, in anticipation of our 14-0 season.
Welcome home

Didn't they announce this game like a year and a half ago?
I didn't think they set a date until spring when we signed the new deal with ESPN... they announced it wouldn't be a Saturday game but rather a Friday.

I keep saying this team is not the same team as last year. All bets are off... this team is a lot better than last years team.

Starting with our center just quitting the team and putting the coaches on blast. Yes a 180 for sure.
Larkin was never the starting center and he was a guard. That was also 2 years ago, he quit that summer.. I remember because Ruff started at guard the San Jose game and then they moved him back to center. Larkin was mad because he didn't think he got a fair shot which was ridiculous.

Sorry, but it's Wisconsin, I mean I go to UWMadison and honestly never hear people say Wisky lol, but whatever. Also, they always under estimate us, hell they have a fake national championship team with a ******** coach in front of us!
Used to party in Madison. I spent a year living in Menomonie... I dated a girl from UW Eau Claire. State and University... yup... drank an awful lot in Madison... but to be honest the most fun I had was in Lacrosse.

Because most coaches think WTF, we made it this far that's good enough?
tell that to Gilbert. I actually don't really remember any of our recent coaches being that great with red-zone conversions with the exception of Taggart because of Flowers. Aside from that, I don't really think our OC's mentioned a lot about it. Not that I can recall. Bell was the first coach I heard say his entire red-zone offense changes week to week depending on the foe. We're literally in uncharted waters with this.

I’ve said this multiple times here, Sanders & Roberts are natural corners. Sure they might have played some safety in HS, but their skill sets translate to CB’s at this level. So many people have written them off (esp. Roberts) because of their missed tackles last year. I understand the aggravation, but once you realize they were playing out of position, the evaluation of the player changes somewhat. These are pure cover guys that were asked to play in the box due to lack of depth across the board.
They were also freshmen. Those guys are young

I know, I was there, I've never missed a USF bowl game.
We were good, not world beaters.
We were better than now, if that helps to clarify....
the defense was better then. But I remember our offense. Just take a look at our school records. We've been OK... but I expect more now. I'm tired of not playing for anything.

Regardless of how our Defense plays in this game, the trick is going to be taking full advantage of our Offensive possessions. We have to cash in on TD's in the Red Zone, and not settle for FG attempts.....or we likely lose.
agreed... which is why I'm happy Bell puts a big emphasis on red zone offense.

I personally ate crow with Quinton flowers (I was a big Kean fan and still is lol)b/c I was not impressed by his HS film and his debut on the field. But once he was given a chance he shined. So I've learned to simply allow life to take place and if the players get better cool, if not they will get replaced. But to "chit" on players that actually played decent their first year on the field is nonsense
indeed... I mean the difference between 18 and 20 is big... A year to grow and mature with these kids can change everything.

We were good in 2008. We have not been good outside of 2 Taggart years in a decade.
we finished 8-5... 2-5 in the conference. We had a big win... but we were just an OK team. We started off ok and lost 5 of our next 7... we beat Cuse who sucked that season and uconn. I'm not sure what good means... but we've not actually ever had 1 good team and even then we got smoked by Oregon in the bowl.

We have had plenty of players have bad seasons and simply improve. I cant say Robert or Sanders had a bad 1st season. They are still going into only their 2nd year of playing. Your argument is strictly emotional from the let down you had last year.
Nate Allen... Skinny... even K Webb... they all got better and ended up in the pros. We've had players go the opposite route too. I'm not paying attention to his arguments, he doesn't appear to know a lot about our football history.
Shoot... I remember people saying Auggie shouldn't be starting... I remember people saying Flowers shouldn't be a QB... so I take it all with a grain of salt... I like to call ******** too.

But if all the guys aren't there for that practice time (how much per day is allowed?) then guys missed some practice. Please don't argue this. I was there listening to the man.
I'm not arguing a thing. I just dont recall them actually saying they missed a lot of practice. I mean I'm supposing now they cancelled a few practices because of rain. I wonder how many practices they missed.

Well, you don't want to show up the Almighty NCAA. They make their decision on their time when they feel like it and won't be guilted into doing it sooner.
A coach probably asked he take it down, which is probably best.

According to what CCS said at the luncheon on Thursday they got out for 20 minutes in the am before lightning, 40 minutes in the afternoon and again later on. Sounds like they missed some practice time if they had to keep going in and out with different guys in attendance because of classes.
I'm pretty sure they met the practice time allotment. I don't think they actually missed any practice time as opposed to have it spread out over more time because of interruption.

It's will be funny if those two have spectacular seasons... because they're poised to.

I would like to think that Charlie learned his lesson. Sawtelle could not catch a fat lady in a phone booth. If he is crazy enough to run Sawtelle and Roberts out there and let Wisconsin possibly get ahead and we lose, then he deserved to be fired on the spot.
Dude... you're not a coach... you're not a talent advisor... you haven't sat in on one practice. You've never seen some of these players actually perform. I would hope that no head coach ever made a decision based on your opinion. Give it up... literally over. We'll see in a week.

Same. It’s been a terrible week in that regards
Did they actually miss practice time or just move them around according to the weather. I don't recall seeing any practices being cancelled, just moved.

Maybe true, but any other team on the schedule is not us, and B10 teams are used to preparing for them every year.
edit: I'll be the first to give you props if we're able to stop their run, though--hope that's possible but I just can't see it.
Oh... I'm not saying we'll stop the run completely. I think we'll outscore them because they have holes in their secondary. As much as they are a bad matchup for us, we are for them too. I think we'll put up some points... more than 30... I feel like we score 35 or more points, we win.

The FSU loss was thematic. The big wins that would matter to the fans and program future continue to elude us. All our splashy OOC wins that we seem to regularly get haven't done much for getting a fan base. Especially when we start strong, then barely beat ECU, then lost to Tulane. Teams people don't want to come out to see anyways, but when you can't dominate them with an exciting product I don't blame people for staying home.
We haven't actually accomplished anything except beating a bunch of OOC teams over the years. We've never won the conference... playing for a championship means something at some point. We're stuck in the mud until we can win a conference championship... we haven't even played for one actually.

Sawtelle is starting and it doesn't matter what anyone thinks. He's been running with the 1's in practice and is 1 on the depth chart. All signs point to starting.

Might want to watch the Houston game again....our secondary was torched all game.
But yea also vs Tulane so was LB and DL.
Our defense was in bad shape the end of the season....actually most of the season.
Georgia Tech actually.
I have officially reached that point where...

I 100 percent agree. I'm a big time fan boy but this year... it's different. I think this team is different. We hit the sweet spot with coaching hires and use of the transfer portal. We brought back a lot of talent and it looks like for the first time in years we're going into the season healthy (knock on wood). Now we have leadership and experience at every level and the talent is there. We just gotta execute. I think some of our fans will be surprised by the Wisconsin game.
