Now Cali stop kidding around, people are going to start thinking we don’t care for each other, what time am I getting you from the airport on Tuesday?

I actually was smart this time.  I booked a flight so I get in earlier.  Normally leaving here I always get there either late or in the heart of rush hour.  Flying out early tues morning, if all goes well I'll be in Tampa at 2:50 pm.

Never been called a fried scone, did you get this from the urban dictionary, not up on the slang?  Either way we are still bro’s, all good.

The fact remains you literally didn't know what a trap game was.  You don't know anything about the USF football history except what you see on the boards.  I'm wondering if you ever attended a game.  You're fake. lol  I see you for who you are.

Yeah, but the thing is, unless Chryst pulls a Bobby Bowden about underestimating us after we beat them, we won't know ....

    True.

You amaze me with your ignorance, you didn't know the history of a simple phrase like this before the Urban dictionary (fine publication 😂) and simpletons like you bastardized the phrase , WOW.  Thanks for the comedic relief this offseason Cali, and you question my knowledge 🤣🤣🤣

You'e upset... lol  Go study up on USF football and come back to me after.  Until then your opinions are garbage. :roflmao:

Even though I live in the suburbs, I’ll accept that and I guess the looking ahead game is just a form, the most popular form, of a trap game ..... BUT, I think you’re totally underestimating the Badgers coaches/players and definitely disrespecting USF by lumping them in with the likes of CMU. The fact that they’re coming here should already grab their attention indicating that we’re not your normal ooc sacrificial lamb.

I'm not... I think you may be overestimating them.  We'll see in a few days.  Leaving for Tampa Tuesday and am wearing the same hat that witnessed WV, FSU, and Clemson drop.

Absolutely agree. There are also people on here who literally pick us to beat every P5 opponent we play. It's the yin and yang of message boards.

I brought Michigan up because I'm apparently not totally familiar with what constitutes a trap game ....

    No.. you aren't

That is the definition of a trap game Cali?  But I am sure you will defend your position to the death 😂😂😂

Uh huh... ok... I mean not only do you know nothing about USF football or it's history, you're sitting here demonstrating you actually know nothing about football.
A trap game is a game played against an opponent generally deemed to be easy to defeat. As a result a person or team may not prepare as thoroughly as they would for a formidable opponent. Often this attitude and its attendant lack of preparation lead to a loss.

Wait... I wanted to edit it to add this 😂😂😂

I agree with the theory, just not the application of it here. Maybe if they were playing Michigan next rather than 9/21. They've got an abysmal CMU team up following us and then a bye week before Big Blue. I think we may still have a little cache left and won't be lumped in with a team like Central Michigan ..... definitely not by the coaches. If we do win this game I think it will have everything to do with us being that much better than last year and little to nothing to do with them looking past us.

To be honest there a people here who literally pick every P5 opponent we play against to beat us. I think they'll look past us and by the time they figure out they're in a game that humidity is going to drop on those big guys... cramps and more cramps.  I dont even see what Michigan has to do with this.  You don't need to have a big opponent the next game for a trap game btw.

I'm sure their coaches paid no attention to us.  Come on.  You know better than that. They probably know we have a new OC. They probably watched film of his former team.  They're a preseason Top 20 team and don't want to screw it up against a non P5 team.  Not saying we can't beat them but to say they'll not be prepared?

lol... because preseason Top 20 teams never look past opponents.  It literally happens all the time and every year a team gets got. So I'm not understanding where you're coming from.  In an ideal world yes, but no... They have just as many if not more question marks than we have.  They're also ranked on reputation.  I stand by it, I don't think they'll be ready for the game. Probably not as up as most think.  For us... it's a huge game.  I like our chances.  Even their fans think this is a big time trap game.

  9. I just think they'll overlook us.  They've not followed our offseason and the only thing they know about the team is what they saw last season.  The offense is completely different and the defense has filled some big wholes from last season.  I think this is a big time trap game for them...

Well the portal was not available when they came. CCS went and got this bunch. Sorry to ruin your fun.

This literally makes not sense.  While the term transfer portal is a very new thing, transfers aren't.  They don't all workout.  Sometimes guys just aren't that good.  USF has traditionally done well with transfers... even before the portal. I'm still clueless as to why you even state that. He has been taking transfers since he arrived and we have done fantastic with transfers in the past... how old is the portal?

Let's also not forget that BYU beat Wisconsin at Wisconsin last year. Too many people view Jonathan Taylor as some sort of unstoppable, next level god. At the end of the day we are playing the same game as Wisconsin, and they are not at some unfathomably higher level than we are. The sooner folks stop viewing Wisconsin as some sort of boogeyman, the better.

    Indeed

Wisconsin is not the boogeyman, their style historically against us is.

Eventually every kid overcomes their fear of the boogyman.  This team may be the one to end a lot of things for us.

Call me sentimental but the old paper tickets -- especially the cool ones you would get for road games and bowls were pretty neat. I get the need for security and "progress" - just seems like a shame that these keepsakes from games are fading away.

Can you imagine going to our first ever game and not having the oversized ticket that was made for that game?

The Bucs switched to this system quite a while ago (I think around 2009?) - and while it is effective, it was a little less exciting receiving your season ticket cards instead of the ticket booklets with the cool art etc.

    too much paper... waste

Flying with my four-year old from Texas to see us take on Wisconsin. Looking forward to seeing some old faces as it's been quite a few years since I've been back in Tampa. Go Bulls!

Flying in Tuesday...  Will be at  the game with my GF son and a bunch of little league football players.  Going to be interesting.

There may be some on here that disagree with that assessment.

Talking about the guys who came back.  Most of the guys who quit on the team were Taggart holdovers.  They're gone.. But Jennings, Kegler, etc... there were guys who played until the final game. Ford... Cronkrite... Barnett...  so without being rude, I give little importance to what they see as opposed to guys who played until the final bell.  Oh... what's telling is who is gone.   I stand by my comment.

The fact that we managed to win 7 games last season despite all of the holes in the team, is a testament to the sheer grit and determination of the players. They accomplished that in spite of the deficits.

Huge deficits.  Dline had 3 first time starters and 2 were true sophs... we had true freshmen in the rotation.  LB depth... well we had none.  We were using a small safety at LB, Love McGee but he was 5'10 199 on his best day.  Yeah... we had major holes.  They were a gritty bunch though.  They never gave up and the guys that stayed played hard...  I think that grit with experience and more talent is a nice mixture. I like where we are legitimately

I remember last year the players had a beach trip and somebody posted how they didnt pass the eye test physically. Aside from the reported weight increase/decrease for these players, the players all now look the part in the photos Ive seen.

I mean last year we were looking at Brett Kean and Oladokun coming out of spring ball.  We'd just lost 2 DTs to the NFL and 3 guys on the oline.  When Barnett won the QB job in 2 weeks basically, I don't think anyone thought we'd win more than 8 games... so a conference title wasn't really talked about. I mean I rode that wave at the start of the season but we had major holes and everyone knew it.  We also had an incompetent OC.  I mean Strong kept saying it... we aren't that good, but they found a way to win early.  Wasn't sustainable.
