  1. All 2008 recruits (meaning signing day 2008) would be gone even with a redshirt. 2009 DB recruits: Ricardo Dixon - injured most of his career; transferred to Youngstown state Jacques jenkins- starter at safety Kayvon Webster - did not redshirt, playing for broncos Ivan Nicholas - never made it on campus Bradley battles- came in as an athlete, saw some time at corner in practice, but primarily at RB. Graduated; had a year left. Victor Marc- came in as an athlete, saw some time at safety in practice, but primarily at WR. Graduated, no eligibility left. 2010 DB recruits: Reshard cliett - moved to linebacker Mark Joyce- starter at safety Terrence Mitchell- moved to WR and now off team Curtis Weatherspoon - juco who has 2 years eligibility and played both. Out of 10 signees: 1 in the NFL; 2 current starters in the defensive backfield; 4 contributed at other positions; 1 never made it; 1 transferred and 1 used up all eligibility at safety. Yep. 10 signees. Zero in the two deep at CB. Only two in the two deep in the secondary. So basically he was 3 for 10. And I'm pretty sure that Cliett was a late add, one of the few that Holtz was responsible for. I'm not overly impressed. It is beyond hilarious that you are trying to argue that Leavitt was bad at recruiting corners/DBs. That is all, carry on. That is not at all what I said. I said that Leavitt's recruiting slipped as time went on. I think the last three years are proof of that. Obviously there is a contingent on this message board that is obsessed with the ghost of Leavitt and feel he could do no wrong. But that isn't really realistic. I recall him leaving the team with virtually no receivers and no scholarship QBs on the roster behind Daniels. I'd say that is pretty poor recruiting. But if you prefer to believe he had a golden glow, more power to you. No receivers being Carlton Mitchell (who wouldn't have left if Leavitt didn't get fired), Dontavia Bogan, and Sterling Griffin. OK... I'd take those guys over the heap that we have here any day of the week. As for QB, he would have had Daniels for 3 more years and had Brion Carnes coming in. He may or may not have panned out, but, the QB position wasn't hurting when Leavitt left. Evan Landi may or may not have ended up at QB under Leavitt. If I recall, he was splitting time in practice after Grothe got hurt so that he was ready to go, and, he looked better than Daniels at times in the spring games. So, 2 scholarship QBs and a highly touted dual threat guy coming in. Name me a team that is set at QB 3-deep? As for everything else Leavitt... you're saying 3-for-10 on DBs... I hate to tell you, but, that's probably not a bad statistic, especially for a lower tier BCS team that can't just put on the logo and go out and get top recruits. Most schools lose guys, or have guys that don't pan out. T-Rex was a 4* DB if I recall, I guarantee you that Leavitt would not have moved him to WR and he would have been the next great USF CB. The difference between Leavitt and Holtz was that Leavitt could evaluate talent for himself, and, actually coach someone to improvement over the course of their 4/5 year college career. Leavitt would go out and get a 2* OL with zero offers and turn him into an All-American defensive end. Or, an athletic QB with no offers to play QB and turn him into an NFL safety. Or, a walk-on laughing stock who even the coaching staff made fun of and turn him into an NFL DB. What I don't get is all the people who just can't acknowledge that Leavitt was a good coach, or, feel the need to put any fault for our current situation on a man who coached his last game here over 3 seasons ago. Our demise just has to be something else other than kicking him to the curb. That couldn't be it because apparently we had success in spite of Leavitt. Forget all the good he did, the rise to fame, the passion that he brought to our team and transferred to our fans. Nope, that top-30 class he pulled in during his final year of recruiting was far worse than Holtz did and clearly shows that Leavitt's recruiting was falling off. Amen. As unproductive as "I miss Leavitt" is, it's a real struggle for me to entertain the notion that Holtz was a comparable recruiter.
  2. Agreed. I admit to liking the Skip hire, a lot. I never saw this coming. I can't figure out how recruiting dropped off so much with Skip.
  3. The O-line was atrocious. I know Mich St has a solid D, but come on. A pocket passer had zero chance with the lack of protection. I feel bad for Eveld. Kid has a lot of guts, have to give him that.
  4. Davis is lazy and afraid of contact. We know it, Willie knows it, and Andre knows it. He doesn't have the mental toughness needed to maximize his physical talent. It is what it is. Benching a kid like him won't change a thing. He's the best WR on the team, even with his negatives. He's comfortable with certain routes. Stick to them. Welch had some key drops, but it happens to every WR. These guys are the best we have. Be mad at Skip. I am. Rueben
  5. I've never changed my name, Tex. It's a conspiracy theory joke dating back years, that TripleB tastefully perpetuates. You on the other hand are just an offensive blowhard that attacks people based on their number of posts and/or discontent with the AD.
  6. WOW, you were able to make sure that the players know that you were booing the football program, athletic department, and/or university. Please enlighten us on how you were able to do that. Let me get this straight if you and another person were standing on a street corner and people started pointing at the 2 of you and laughing you would know who they were laughing at? I call BS, all the kids know is, as they were running off of the field people were booing. Yeah, it's a cool thing. It's called reason. I used my brain. You should try it. Spare me the stupid analogies. Explain how you made sure that the kids knew that you weren't booing them. You think that the analogy is stupid becuase it blows your BS "reasoning" out of the water. Easy - I wasn't booing. I don't boo. I find in tasteless. But for your entertainment, I'll give you some examples. When a coach calls a draw play on 3-15, and fans boo - The kids know the crowd isn't booing them. When a player enters the game and people boo - It's obvious that he is the target. I'm offended that you think these kids are so stupid. And no, your analogy is really just stupid. So let me see if my short-bus-riding brain can figure this out. You find booing tasteless but your whole argument is that the booing was warranted. Stop, man, please just stop trying to explain. "Boooo...hey, man, I'm not booing you exactly. I'm booing your bosses...BOOOOOO...love you guys, keep trying...BOOOOOoooooo" I don't care if you're the friggin' MAN in your own mind, you have nothing even close to reason. Either boo the product on the field that includes all the players playing badly, or just confront the specific department/people you're angry with and leave the players out of it if you feel they're exempt. Don't expect people to read your mind, it's a terrible thing... I agree with you - Based on your previous posts, it's probably too hard to grasp, for you. I don't have to "either boo the product on the field" yada bull****, or "confront the athletic department". I am not limited to those options. Nice reasoning, Tex.

  9. Brilliant insight. Real deep. Thanks for the contribution. I agree with The Sheriff, Willie was a reach with Petrino available. Willie is going to need years to replenish the empty shelves, while Petrino probably gets recruits in quicker. Spare me the "stepping stone" excuse. Willie is out in a few years too, if he can get this team to a bowl game. With the program in shambles, he'll look like a genius if we make the Beef O Brady's Bowl in 2016. Reuben I guess if you can look past what a creep Petrino is-- then sure-- what a great hire he would be. I think it's a hurdle I can get over. He certainly paid a price for his indiscretions. I think you hold your nose and give him a second chance. This type of risk worked out well for Kansas St and Huggy Bear. Sorry, had to mention my man Huggy.

  11. College football is about values? Sorry, not on this planet. Conference realignment ring a bell?
  12. Wow, 3 posts in two years and you pick this time to step up and speak your mind a fourth time? You should have kept the crypt closed... So I guess you left it to the players to interpret properly and go sit down with the university to express your concerns for you. 3 posts in two years under that name .... Thanks Trip. It's nice to be back. Still on Willie's Bus, RR

So I guess you left it to the players to interpret properly and go sit down with the university to express your concerns for you. Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to express my opinion in an open forum. Surely I deserve to be attacked because of my low post count. True Bulls fans post hundreds or thousands of times. I'm a legend around these parts. Ask Smazza, TripleB, or Zipper. I mean Velcro. Are you special, like the kid in your avatar?
  14. Huge difference between booing aimed at players, and booing aimed at a football program, athletic dept, and/or university. The booing that was going on Saturday was aimed at the athletic department and the university, not the players. And it's well deserved. It's not Floyd's fault that he's the best option at QB. Fire Woolard, Rueb
  15. Perhaps Mike can try to hug-it-out with the players, because that seemed to work really well under the guidance of Skip. A few "nice try's", a "get them next time", and a "can't win em all". That's all these players need. This program is awful. I know it, Mike knows it, and Willie sure as h*ll knows it. The head coach (I really like Willie) said b/t the lines that our QBs are dreadful, and after McNeese, called his team a bunch of losers; and admitted that he will need to get 'his guys' in here. And we're talking about booing from the stands hurting the players feelings? Please. It can only get better from here.
