  1. IF FSU goes SEC or B1G as suggested Miami still would get a Big 12 invite over USF or UCF, question is would Clemson, UL get one too? I would say yes, but I see USF as 14 to have a second school in FL. Big 12 wont stop at 12 unless its FSU, Miami, Clemson. Why is USF/UCF being looked at, because in the grand scheme of things FOX is making a play at ESPN with PAC, Big 12 partnerships and ultimately B1G (Tier 1) and helping sending out B1G and SEC networks. And FOX wants Florida. USF has already made a pitch to the Big 12 in the past as well as UL, UConn and Cincy. USF is a sleeping giant. Why is USF/UCF and Cincy/UConn not getting paid by ESPN for their rights is because NBC did not want to pony up money without a GOR that nobody wanted to sign. Sign it added $40 more mil a year. USF/UCF added would require FOX to pay out another $112mil a year to Big 12, $6mil more per existing team ($60) and $52mil for USF/UCF, so no money is lost (with bowl game splits and value is added with conf. championship) does it I dont know. Also divisions are a bit of an issue. I honestly think the Big 12 has decided to hold up at 10 for a while now, since ND has now joined ACC for next year. I think everyone stays and ACC& Big 12 is talking about scheduling an in season rivalry. Basically meaning WVU would play UL, Pitt and VT every 3 years (1 a year) along with the 9 game conference schedule. Imo, Big 12 is dead within 5 years , now that I believe ESPN has locked up ACC and will make the run at ND against NBC and let FOX deal with others and share. I see Texas going indepentent with ND to ACC on ESPN, Mizzou and KU going to B1G, SEC getting 3 in OU, WVU and either OSU(more probabable due to tied to OU)/Kst. Then rest of Big12 heads out to the PAC 12 to either make PAC 16.
  2. http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/article/20130307/GW01/303070009?gcheck=1&nclick_check=1 The B1G is going to 16,18, or 20 depending on which B1G voice you listen to OSU Prez Gee says 20, the question is who.
  3. So, FSU and Miami would not have to pay the Big 12 back for the $60 million? I would say if the ACC buyout becomes $25 mil for Maryland (which most think thats around the number) Then FSU and Miami get gifted $12.5 mil (and not have to pay back) a piece and has to pay $12.5 mil a piece. Leaving $35 mil in the coffers for future expansion. Future money would help out others in Big 12 going to 14 or 16 if ACC blows up, 14 with FSU, Miami, Clemson and UL with possibly 15 & 16 as BYU/Boise or Pitt/Cuse. The best option longterm wise imo for USF is if FSU takes a B1G bid by end of June and Miami then jumps. That would start the moves and USF should be the second team from FLA.
  4. Also if USF/UCF got invited I dont see any "gift or loan" money coming from Big 12 as it would happen prior to June 30, 2013 for the 2014 season. WVU got help because Big 12 was in a bind and needed 1 after they took TCU (Wish Big 12 would have taken UL and WVU at once but TCU replaced A&M then WVU replaced Mizzou) I would expect USF/UCF would have to pay the $10 mil and buyout only ~15 months of 27 months and that would mean probably $12.5 mil total from precedents seen below WVU paid $5 mil buyout and then negotiated the total 27 months (2 seasons) for ~16 mil. = 21 Pitt and Cuse paid $5 mil buyout and negotiated the ~15 months (1 season) for ~2.5 = 7.5 UL will pay $10 mil buyout and will negotiated the ~15 months (1 season) for ~2.5 = $12.5 It will be interesting to see what ND pays since they have $0 buyout but have to negotiate the 27 months.
  5. Correct but currently is not being paid out to the Big 12 members, more like a rainy day fund. So you could assume if USF/UCF would come aboard then the 10 teams would divy up the $60 mil next year prior to USF/UCF add, (with WVU TCU prorated rate) but there is also option of helping to buyout a FSU and Miami and see if Fox would pay $30 mil a year for Tier 1 and Tier 2 versuses say $26 mil with a USF/UCF that expanding would need (why the $26 mil broken down in USF rumor thread)
  6. No wonder NBC has become the worst network. 20M per year for a conference when you have 0 programming and your competitor has a chance to match is absurd. Might as well give your girl a $100 engagement ring. Come strong, or don't come at all. They were willing to give probably another $40 mil a year more but wanted a GOR, they did not want Cincy, UConn or USF to leave and be stuck with no former BE teams. They knew/know what they were doing because they expect more realignment and in 2-3 years they can use that money to give ND more to gaurantee they stay on NBC and now not be stuck with ConfUSA 2.
  7. Again per USF rumor thread FSU's preferences are 1. B1G (This is the prized conference) 2. SEC (The prized football conference) 3. A Stabilized ACC with ND (indy or full) with a future chance at a Texas (indy or full as 16) 4. Big 12 (Assumes ACC blowup) Miami & I believe Clemson only has these options and in order 1. Stabiliized ACC 2. Big 12 (Though Clemson wants SEC) SEC and B1G models are for people paying cable companies to watch that network, SEC issue with Clem and FSU is the cable companies in Fla and SC will already be paying for the SEC channel, with UF and USCe. Yes even in Tampa as USF fans you are going to have to pay ~$1 month to have the SEC channel on Brighthouse networks because there is enough UF fans to demand it. B1G wants Florida and FSU is its goal, but honestly with Graduate research USF is better suited and would get AAU status sooner, imo.
  8. The Big 12 is giving away $60 million ($6 million per member) away without it being paid back? I agree USF would not be added at a net loss. But, the Big 12's members accepting a net loss for other schools? From my understanding the $60 mil is money that has been set aside for future expansion, mainly from Mizzou and A&M buyout and WVU's and TCU's prorated fees. Therefore no net loss for other schools, kinda like payout from Big East to USF, Cincy UConn.
  9. IF FSU to B12 happens FSU gets full share day 1 and TCU and WVU goes full share. UT does not like this and feels FSU should pay their way in but would lose that vote. If its USF/UCF they go prorated and TCU and WVU stays prorated. Also Big 12 has money to gift a FSU and UM to leave ACC (supposedly around $60 mil available )
  10. In regards to USF talent level being able to compete in Big 1212, I agree but its going to be like WVU in that aspect. Our 1s can compete with most teams, but our 2s cant compete with theirs, so when a 1 goes down, that 2 has to compete with their 1 and its not good. So recruiting depth is going to take a few years and our recruiting depth is better in Big12 then BE, and better under Dana than Stewart and I would expect same from USF with Taggart. Week in/ Week out play is ALOT different in Big 121212 than BE.
  11. The TV deal from Fox to add USF/UCF for existing 10 teams would need to increase from $20 mil to ~$26mil because of loss revenue from BCS & Sugar Bowl ($9mil each year based on 10 team versus 12 teams) That means adding 2 teams and Conference championship would net WVU $4 mil more a year because right now they're getting (20+9) now, and would get (26+7.5) later (after full share 4years) plus other bowl game money and Tier 3 rights ($9 mil), putting WVU over 45 mil a year. So Fox would need to add $112 mil a year to contract to add and pay USF/UCF full share. FsU is still looking but order is B1G, SEC, stabile ACC, Big 12. ND getting ACC next year versus Big East (Fox) might help the USF/UCF to Big 12 rumors. Everyone says Ou/Texas is ultimately headed to Pac 12, I disagree because they are seeing WVU's bball issues with travel and times of hames witg 1 time zone, Pac adding 4 (ut, ou, tech, and osu) when GOR is up would make it difficult being in 3 different time zones. Texas if it leaves Big 12 is better suited to be Indy with ND and ACC/ESPN because of LHN.
  12. Also of notes: WVU/TCU shares are 50%, 67%,80%, 100% for the first 4 years WVU got gifted and loaned money for the buyout for BE The $20 mil right now is only for Tier 1 & 2 not including championship game Right now the BCS payout and the SEC/Big12 Game (Sugar Bowl?) is not part of that $20 mil and adds about $9mil for each of the 10 teams (more mouths less per team) The other bowl money is shared along with help with ticket sales and cost of going unlike Big East Tier 3 TV stays with teams along with the radio and marketing. WVU is going from $5 mil to $9 mil a year on just this being in Big 12 Remember SEC/B1G have different types of TV packages then PAC/Big 12 - its about big time teams playing each other (not just top Tier 1 game(s)) and national viewership (PAC/Big12) versus just mass population in areas of schools paying for the channel to have right to watch game
  13. Dont you if you appreciate my info or think I am an ass but well here it goes. I concur there is a small chance USF/UCF to Big 12 happens, 10-15%. 1. Fox wants Florida and prefers 2 Fla teams (FSU and Miami). Will they pony up the money to get the current 10 teams $26 mil a year for Tier 1&2 plus the Conf championship game, and get USF/UCF the money if they cant get them? 2. Will 8 of the 10 teams vote in USF/UCF, WVU will but will others? (This alot depends on divisions, Issue 1 - Oklahoma and Texas will not be in separate divisions as the want the RRR and dont want to face each other in a conference championship. Issue 2 - Baylor and Texas Tech does not want to give up yearly games with big brother and now neither does TCU but at least one of them will have to, and the other schools want 2 Texas teams on their part 3 That pretty much makes the conferences WVU, USF, UCF, Iowa St, TCU and Baylor. I am not sure that Iowa St, TCU and Baylor want that division 3. I still think if the ACC is not cracked (no one leaves or GOR is signed) by June 2013, for 2014 season (New BCS), I think its the Big 12 that blows up and 8 teams need to find homes to blow up that league. (Texas independent with #16 with ND in ACC due to Longhorn Network/ESPN Tier 3 contract) B1G would go to 16 with Kansas and Missou, SEC would need 3 and go with WVU, OU and either OSU/Kst with 4 pods of 4 and Tech, Baylor, OSU/Kst, and TCU to PAC 12, which only leaves out Iowa St which would join New Big East ------ This is the death sentence for USF, IMO Chance of 1 team more likely USF joining Miami in Big 12 if FSU goes to B1G (20) - 25% B1G takes - ND, FSU, BC, UVA, UNC, GT, DUKE SEC takes - VT, NCst Big 12 takes - Miami, USF, UL, Clemson at 14, possibly 2 more either BYU & Boise ST or Pitt & Cuse WVU wants eastern partners and would love a home/away with 2 Fl and 2 Texas teams a year, but will the divisions allow it? Our issue is not football travel but is the time zone travel in basketball with the later games on Fox/ESPN that is supposedly going to be worked out next year so we could travel on a Friday for a Sat away game (say Texas), stay that night, travel Sunday (to Texas Tech) and play on Monday night, and fly back that night and get back early Tues morning (4am). Right now for a Wed/Sat away game we leave Tuesday play Wed get back Thurs (4am) go to class then leave Friday for Sat game and get back Sun (AM) The things to watch right now are the Maryland lawsuit, and the fact that the C7 (Big East) leave next year and get MSG and are courted ND to play with them next year in all sports but FB. And they want ND to stay there after that, increasing their contract money. And supposedly ACC is so scared of this they are offering ND for just the football 5 games package to keep their ACC bowl tie ins.
  14. I warned you guys earlier about USF/UCF to Big 12, its a ploy to scare FSU, Miami and others into a move. One may be likely with Miami IF FSU went B1G but both is a negative.
  15. +1 Bank it and pay things off, because there is still a few months before the NBE (whatever it is called) gets stabilized on July 1st. An indoor athletic facility is something that can be put off because it's a recruiting tool and in NBE, USF should be top 1-3 every year in that category. It can be used later for a buyout which is now $10mil and 27 months, to cover future budgets since NBE did not get the money it was expecting, and some future small renovations 500k-$2 mil.
  16. Where I see it going SEC to 16 with either VT/NCSt or UNC/Duke B1G going to 20 - UNC/UVA/GT/BC/ND/Duke sub Cuse/Pitt for UNC/Duke Big12 going to14 or 16 - FSU, Miami, Clemson, UL & either Pitt/Cuse or BYU/Boise St PAC 12 going to 16 - Houston/SMU and either BYU/Boise St or UNLV/(a team like Nevada) That's 66 or 68 and that does put USF out, but with possibilities of Wake, Pitt, Cuse, UCF, Uconn, Cincy, Memphis, Temple and such. Now one way USF can get in Big 12 is IF FSU goes B1G and would take Dukes spot, therefore USF would replace FSU and possibly Duke would get in Big 12 to go against Kansas in BBall with a team like Pitt as 16.
  17. McMurphy is going to be on The Dude of WV radio show Thursday.
  18. Again also why I do not see ESPN matching offer by Thurs since Cincy, UConn and USF is gone
  19. Everything I have seen is B1G wanted to do this by end of April, to give Big 12 and SEC time to pick by end of June to corner ND.
  20. They dont have to just match the offer from NBC, and honestly I know you all hate ESPN but for the good of the league until the next round of realignment happens USF, Cincy and UConn needs ESPN, imo.
  21. If ESPN does not offer to match the $20-23 mil dollar deal, then IMO ESPN knows Cincy and UConn is gone by end of June, remember there is now only 4 BE right now (Cincy, USF, UConn, and Temple) and Temple can't stop the league from disbanding therefore Cincy and UConn could vote to go by June 30th and split the previous buyouts. IMO Cincy, UCOnn, USF, and UCF alone is worth $20 mil and all want don not want NBC and therefore UConn and Cincy might make the BBall break with C7 if not invited to ACC by June.
  22. Whit (Cincys AD) is a greedy SOB, and is using WVU 2005 AD basis. If there was one who would try C7/football split it would be him.
  23. I am still not sure if they get an ACC invite by June they wont part bball with C7 and football in MAC.
  24. Here is where I see it. The deal is for $2.1 mil and probably for Tier 1&2 as it has been with school owning Tier 3. The issue will be recruiting with NBC network and new Big East. ESPN will not be promoting NBE at all on sportscenter and such that the kids watch, so recruiting will suffer some for CWT, even more so against Big 5. USF should be able to out recruit NBE and therefore with CWT that equates to wins. If I was Doug I would ask to reinstate Prop 48s in NBE to upgrade talent level.
