  1. I agree this would be the best option. I understand why many would prefer to leave the AAC's newer additions behind, but the PAC doesn't have a media deal (couldn't get one even when the PAC was still relatively intact) and it would be pricey for those who exit like USF - a much riskier and expensive proposition. On the other hand, if the PAC just joins the AAC, we keep and probably improve the media deal, pay no exit fee, and keep open the prospect of joining the ACC one day if it still makes sense to do so. And if the B1G or ACC change their minds in the next year or two, and Stanford and Cal split from the AAC, we're really in no worse position than we started. Worst possible outcome in all this would be for the ACC or B1G to change their minds in the next week or two and end up taking Stanford and Cal. If that happens, USF will need to really focus on improving its athletic programs (especially FB and BB), in the hope that FSU and others eventually split from the ACC, and we're an attractive candidate at that point to join the ACC.
  2. What I like about Trey is: AAC focus (hard to find nowadays) 30 minutes or less and he stays on topic Seems pretty professional (not trying to be fratty) Thoughtful but doesn't pretend to be an "insider" who knows more than he actually knows Anyways, never hurts to try something new.
  3. Hey, believe what you want. I don’t care. In the meantime, anyone interested in how realignment might affect the AAC, I strongly recommend listening to this podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/college-gametime-podcast/id1701656524?i=1000624326846
  4. If true I think this might work out better for USF. We’re not ready to replace FSU right now, and even if we were, the future of the ACC is unclear in light of the number of teams that could be gobbled up by the B1G and the SEC. We could end up in a better situation with a reborn PAC. Who knows. My head hurts.
  5. I think it’s always the same issue with Memphis: academics. It’s not AAU and ranked #263 in USNWR. Fair or not, if academics is an important criterion, Memphis doesn’t make the cut. PAC would only need 8 total (technically not even that), and the four listed above have better metrics. That said, I’d be fine including Memphis instead of Rice.
  6. Well it says “focus” not “minimum requirement.” SMU is not AAU but is ranked something like #73 in USNWR, ahead of USF which is AAU but ranked somewhere in the 90s. I expect it would be USF, Tulane, Rice, and SMU in 2024 - if indeed this is Stanford’s priority.
  7. Seems odd to leave us out. NO isn’t that much farther from Tampa by air. But whatever, everything is speculation at this point.
  8. What about the exorbitant exit fees for SDSU, Boise State, and Fresno State for 2024? He didn’t address that issue. He either doesn’t know about it or thinks it’ll otherwise get addressed.
  9. Guess Miami is doing ND a solid. I don’t see any other reason why any existing ACC team should want to bring in two leftover teams from San Francisco.
  10. Right. Why rock the boat when you’ve already got four bad guys doing your dirty work?
  11. Yes, but they presumably do have one thing in common: they both want out of the ACC. So they’re aligned at least in that way.
  12. Agreed. I don’t think we’re getting the whole story. Seems like some in the press are low-key cheering for Stanford and Cal to find a home in the ACC. They don’t seem to want to let it go. The alternatives (shudder) are unimaginable.
  13. There was no vote, because these four were known opponents and there was no point in taking a formal vote. Can’t guarantee, however, that if you flip one of them (if you can) you get in. There may be other opponents who didn’t show their cards because they knew they didn’t have to. For example, I’ve heard that Virginia and Virginia Tech are also not fans of the proposal.
  14. Meanwhile, not a single peep in Tallahassee about FSU's next move. Nothing. Even some friends I have that are close to the program know nothing. Either it's the best FSU has ever kept a secret, or my prognostication that FSU's barking last week was nothing more than posturing is coming true. Two more years in the ACC unless notice is given within the next four days. If nothing happens with the ACC this year, it might actually benefit USF by giving us more time to get our stuff in order. I'd prefer to be in a stronger position when the hits the fan. In two years, maybe we'll be up, and Tulane, SMU, and Memphis might be down. Who knows. And honestly, we don't know whether the ACC will bleed only a little (lose a couple of schools) or gush all over the kitchen floor like a slaughtered pig (PAC-12). The goal is to have options, and the more we win and improve donations/NIL/attendance, the more options we'll have.
  15. Imagine a world where every FBS football team were independent and could just directly negotiate their media rights directly with whatever network they wanted. And negotiate scheduling with whatever other FBS football team it wanted. Certain "brand" schools would get a mountain of money. Other lesser brands would get less. But presumably it would all be based on viewership and market. Could USF do well in such a world? The selection show for playoffs would be pretty wild.
  16. True. But I hope the OCS has green and gold seats, not benches!
  17. Good point. RJS also makes the attendance look worse than it is. I'm hoping that in addition to actually increasing attendance, the OCS also makes lower attendance look less obvious.
