Not bad, but is it bizarre that almost every RB and TE of any competency has shown some interest in becoming a Bull since Coach Taggart was hired? It's at the same time the most amazing and also slightly irritating thing I've seen.

Even Collins and Folston are in play. Would love to see one of them here, if at all.

One good friend of mine graduated from there a couple of years ago. Smart kid, looks like he's going to end up an MD (though he went to Miami, blast it...).

I like that they put him on with B.J. and Davis. One guy just was the man for the last three years here and knows how to play the game pretty well, and the other guy will be his top target for the next two years.

I would love to see us busting front 7s the next few years. If you get him to complement Fennell (assuming he qualifies), could you imagine the offense? You'd have to think we'd have a real shot at Collins or Folston then, and I'm fairly sure Kemp would be pretty hot on recommitting...you would look good behind that line.

If we were to build an exact replica of the Yale Bowl, it would cost $17.4M in current day dollars (per Wikipedia).

The Marshall Center was built using the Capital Improvement Trust Fund plus a ton of borrowed money. The CITF would get us $15M-20M. If you can do that and then get another $10-15M for a luxury box section, we could build a modern version of the Yale Bowl relatively quickly.

The #1 team in the country and one of the top 2 teams in the PAC-12? Yeah, we're going to be in a fight and I would be thrilled if we beat both of them.

I've heard Taggart runs what is called a "Power Coast" offense.

Whatever it is, I'm a big fan of being able to pound teams in the mouth. So many teams run the spread these days-want to know which teams tend to win conference championships? It isn't the teams with a spread offense.

That said, let's not assume that Taggart's going to be bringing the same offense to Tampa. He's capable of adjusting to our players, or at least I'd like to believe so. He will do what's best for our team.

There is a lot to be done when it comes to looking at assistants. I'm pretty heartened by the level of interest the DC job has gotten. I'm hopeful we hire Shannon, but it is going to be a real tough call between him or Durkin, or even promoting Patrick.

Just keep spending money hiring and firing your coaches. Hell, USF has to travel 10 miles to play their home football games. Thats the mark of a real football school.

It depends if you're tailgating or not. Since it sounds like you're not, I would recommend following the signs- People offer parking up and down Himes Avenue. If you get there at least 2 hours in advance, try to park at Jesuit-the parking there is slightly expensive, but at least you get the benefit of a paved parking spot, whereas most of the parking is grass. The school also has a back gate which can allow you to short cut a little bit to Hillsborough Avenue after the game when the traffic is particularly bad.

Grothe played under Canales and of course USF won a lot with Grothe at QB. In fairness, he did make Phillip Rivers a top five draft pick.

Taggart is surely an up and coming coach. I don't know what's going through Grothe's head, but Canales would require a lot of work. I think he will probably at least get an interview.

We're only a destination job right now if we leap into the ACC or Big 12 and start having serious success (i.e. being at least 2nd or 3rd in the conference, regularly making conference title games). Unless we end up being that annual access bowl participant from the little kid's table and get some big upsets, nobody is ever going to take us seriously. Even Willie Taggart will get offers from some big name schools. If Miami starts struggling again, do you seriously think they wouldn't try to make a play for Taggart if he shows he's winning 9-10 games a year here? I'm sure he likes USF and this program, but if he finds himself hitting that ceiling where he can't go any further, he would be a fool not to jump to one of the Power 5 programs, especially if it was one where he has a serious shot of contending for a national title within 3-4 years.

I guess Bobby Petrino really wasn't all that desirable-looks like he wasn't even considered for the Auburn opening-and I can't see him being hired in the Big Ten after the scandals at Ohio State and Penn State.

Extra Point kicks exist for a reason. He would have gotten the play anyhow if we get a touchdown. I could have understood if it was a 40-50 yard attempt and he wanted to try it for the sake of being a senior and having a little pride in his kicking.

Basically, I feel the best scenario is for the ACC to become the Big East of a couple of years ago and the Big East to become the C-USA from a couple of years ago.

That's definitely the best scenario I see. What worries me, though, is stuff like the quotes from Nick Saban about there eventually being just 60-70 "real" FBS schools, a bunch of irrelevant ones that are background noise and largely don't play the big dogs, and then FCS. In essence, there'd be 1A, 1AA (us), and 1AAA (what used to be 1AA). In that case, it's pretty much relegation and I question whether we could build a healthy fan base in that situation. But, again, it is what it is. I do like the basketball side of it, though.

I think we're worrying a little bit too much about our attendance numbers. The doom and gloom predictions of 20k at USF games won't happen unless we remain a bad team.

Look at ECU and UCF. They might not be big time schools, but as long as they're successful, they've drawn 30k to 40k a game.

We are not at the point of an Alabama or a Florida where we can draw 90k fans to a game, and we most certainly won't be for a while. Heck, even Miami fans are a pretty fair-weather bunch-at the USF-Miami game earlier this year I'd say the stadium was about 60/40 Miami at kickoff and the stadium was barely half full.

We regularly draw 40k a year so long as we're successful. I can't see that changing much as long as we put in 7-8 win seasons, because we're a low cost alternative to Bucs games and we will seemingly remain that way for the foreseeable future unless we get more big name opponents (such as a Miami or FSU) in town. It'll take winning the conference in the ACC (or getting in a BCS game next year) to get over the 45k to 50k hump.

If I was a former player at UM, I would tell them to pound sand. The NCAA is as crooked as they come. Glad the players are sticking together. UM won't get the death penalty... but it sure won't be pretty when it's all said and done. PSU didn't get the death penalty and they had a massive cover up.

What the NCAA is doing sounds partially illegal. You can't simply operate under a presumption of guilt in cases like these from my understanding. The burden of proof is on the NCAA to prove that these players were taking illegal contributions, not the other way around.

Honestly, Skip is probably regretting leaving ECU right now. He had it good there. He's not cut out for this level of competition. He needs to go back to coaching mid-majors, since he's done that well.

Stunningly enough I agree. Fitch has done one hell of a job with the offense both this season and last. If we were to fire Holtz than Fitch would likely be interim HC. If this realignment stuff continues to go downhill for us I wouldn't be shocked to see Fitch go to one of the Power 5 teams as a position coach or an OC (it really wouldn't be a lateral move since the prestige and potentially the money would be higher).

DW was in his seat for most of the first half of bball - he was not all smiles. Looked to be very tired to me. Next time I saw him was when he entered soccer game after it started - then he was all smiles and shaking hands. We can only hope he had a good call in between.

I would be over the moon if we could land Kirby Smart. Would he come? I don't know. He would get that chance to recruit in Florida. He'd get relatively easier waters for his first head coaching job, since there is some decent talent on this team. We'd also have to see how much we can throw at him...if Maryland and Rutgers weren't already in talks to leave, we'd be lucky to get 10M USD a year.

I hate to say it, but USF is not the attractive starter head coaching opportunity it was when Skip Holtz was hired.
