I’m not a wimpy fan. Just after the past 10 years it’s kinda hard to not go back to thinking when are we gonna go back to sucking again. Because of the conference we are in we now have to win the tournament. This game was important because we still had a chance to go to the dance without having to win our tournament

I agree this game and the first game of the AAC tournament were must wins. If we make it to the AAC final and lose I think we might have a chance at a at large still. We will see.

  2. I think a at large is still possible, but we have to make it to the final of the aac tournament at least. If we make it that far we might as well win it all.

I would have much rather lose against smu or charlotte. Because this is for sure a bad lose.

So what makes you think that CAAR is that much different than Dusty?

I’m not saying he is different but he left Kennesaw for USF, So he has done it already either for money or a better opportunity at a higher level of basketball. The next opportunity he gets will be the same again to coach at a higher level and probably more money, so we will see what happens. Not all coaches leave mid major programs when they are successful but 80% do.I don’t blame him if he does leave because if he had 2 losing seasons here  he would probably get fired at USF, so he has to look at what’s best for him overall. I hope he stays but that’s just the reality of it.

I do think if Karter Knox commits to USF coach will be here next year because we will be better next year talent wise with Knox.

Dusty May’s first head coaching job is at FAU and he decided to stay which is very rare they don’t even have a practice facility like us so much respect to that man. That’s like if CAAR stayed at Kennesaw as far as facilities go.

It is obvious to me he is back next year as is Youngblood, stroud and everyone else with the exception of Placer, Miguel and Hines.  He will stay because he has the core, adding new pieces and can replicate that success again next year, the same reason Dusty stayed (team was back). Dusty is gone after this season (team is gone) much like CAAR will be after next year.  He is a smart man and will strike when his stock is high and before the cupboard is empty.  Timing is everything, these guys know when to hold them and when to fold and bolt.

I don’t think Dusty is going anywhere he could have left and took the whole team with him to another school.I think he just likes where he is at.

Youngblood and stroud can transfer right away because they would be a grad transfers next year if coach rahim left.

Definitely need to raise the rate for sure. I would at least boost his pay to $1.5M, make the bonuses a bit bigger (say double them as they're fairly small), and raise the buyout to $3 million. A bigger school will pay it and that pays for our next coach.

With that said CAAR will look for the right job. I think he would want to target a place like UGA where he's coached before and Mike White will be on the hot seat going into next year. Leonard Hamilton is about to retire at FSU, but that's historically been a fairly dead-end job with poor facilities and recruiting.

But for the ones saying we should triple his pay...get out of here. Even if we sell out every game next season we're looking at $3-4 million in revenue at most not factoring in any expenses.  The licensing agreement with Adidas helps some too but how much I'm not sure. You still have to pay full cost of attendance for the players and salaries for assistants and managers. If we breakeven on MBB after all that we're doing well.

The TV revenue is pretty much getting paid to the football coaching staff and I'm hopeful there will be way more ticket sales for FB next year as there's way more marginal revenue opportunities there. I don't think we're paying anything more than we're already paying on fixed costs for football currently.

I think if Mike White got fired that would be a very attractive job for him.Mike white just got there so I think he will at least get one more year.

  6. Penny gets paid 2.5 million a year at Memphis at least match that. If it was up to me I would go ahead and offer him 3 million a year starting next year, if he doesn’t accept that he just probably wants to try to see what he can do at the power 5 level.

His buy out I think is 2 million which is nothing to the P5 schools.

I’av been watching USF hoops for years, every single game and now that we are winning it feels so much better. I would go all out on him, you have to.With coaches like him we will be in a P5 in no time.

  7. The way Miguel was talking about coach and coach was talking about him I don’t see why he wouldn’t stay. that’s very odd though the team is having such a great year and he told coach he might be transferring already, kind of odd.Wouldn’t you want  to start talking about that when this run is over? Unless they already know Karter Knox is coming and if he is coming, karter will be starting thats for sure.

  8. To be honest he wasn’t proven . I think  what he is doing at USF in one year is very impressive.Based on that and not what he did at the previous stop P5 schools will come calling at the end of the season, specially if we win the American tournament and win a couple NCAA games. We will have to come up with some money to keep him.

The Bulls are ranked in the AP Top 25 for the first time in program history. They're also not (currently) in Bubble Watch. Two things can be true at once.

I think if we win out in the regular season we are in, as long as if we lose in the American athletic tournament it’s a decent team like, SMU, Memphis, Fau, Charlotte, etc..

He needs to coach up one of the big men or bring one in  Doesn't need to be a scorer, just defend and rebound for 15 min a game

I agree if he can bring in a solid big that can move, defend and throw it down when he is open.We should be very good next year. That’s the only small problem I’av seen this year, but we’ve been able to survive. Walker has been doing great guarding bigs considering his size.

Jennings sat out; so he has 2 years left.

USF is going to pay him. Plus Tampa sells itself. The only reason why I would see him leaving is if has some stupid fantasy to coach at some program (a la the stupid move that Taggart had by leaving a good thing at Oregon to go to FSU). He does not seem to be that type of person. If I am a coach, I would want to show that I could build an elite program, rather than leaving to fulfill a dream at coach at an already established program. That is the challenge.

And what a city to do it in. If he were at UAB doing this, he would have a better chance leaving there than in Tampa.

I agree with you. I really respect Dusty May for staying at FAU because he could of been at a P5 school this year. He said he was happy there, so he stayed.FAU has a lot less going for it facility wise so I believe everything he said.

  12. CBS College basketball analyst were saying he will have to opportunity if he wants to.
I don’t think he would leave because we are going to have everyone back minus Placer. If he did leave he would be leaving some players out to dry, because I think the second time you transfer you have to sit out a year and that would mean Youngblood, stroud, Jennings would probably be force to stay at USF their final year.
