We don't have a crystal ball telling us who the next "Mike Brey" would be if they came here so this is worth a shot. It may not end well but there's no guaranty that anyone coming in will end well ..... hopefully the twilight of his career will mirror Larranaga's.
He just took Norte dame to the tournament last year.

This is the best possible hire for us, we weren’t going to get a better coach then this. Dusty may is not coming here, he is either going to a power5 school or staying at Fau with all his starters coming back next year.Brey resume destroys Dusty May’s unless he wins it all this year.
This is probably the best coach USF has ever hired if you compare his head coaching resume to others.

You do realize we've only had one in the history of USF MBB, right? ......And if we do go the way of the assistant, I'm all in on 83's Capko campaign, a specific route we haven't taken yet.
Yes your right I think I’m just going off the football hire.

Pitino was asked about being linked to the St. John’s job during the Maac championship presser,he said he would only leave Iona if he found another school that has won and will win year in and year out. He also said there is very little amount schools that currently do that.So I highly doubt he will come here. we will have to get a coach that has proven himself before and is on the rebound to prove himself again.Other wise we will get a assistant from some big school like always. I say just get chucky atkins and called it a day, he would be in penny hardways shoes.

That’s a horrible draw, might as well of gotten the 12th seed

Yes, but my point is that we have been fed this losing isn’t acceptable crud, yet we had a chance at 3 marquee CFB coaches and ended up with another coordinator w/o JC experience. Now we have a chance to sign one of a few proven CBB coaches and if we end up with another dud, I will lose all faith in this department. That said, I am really happy we didn’t get Deion and I think Golesh could be a really good hire, but time will tell. The fact that other schools stretch themselves to sign the best and we don’t leaves me with little faith in VPMK and I am not investing in anything I don’t believe trust in.
Why are you really happy we didn’t get Deion? Have you seen the talent he has brought in to Colorado? Probably better then any year in USF football history.

Side note. No time wasted. Wichita State fired their 48-34 coach.
I would take Wichita state coach over any assistant coach.

If they aren’t going to hire a coach that’s has good head coaching experience, I would go with Chucky Atkins over any assistant coach.

Are we poaching Dusty May?
He wouldn’t be moving up, FAU will be in the American next year.

Absolutely the right call. CBG like CJS are both nice guys and we wish them well but both were the wrong people to lead MBB and football. 6 years is a large enough body of work to see that he wasn't gonna get it done. Let's hope Kelly brings in someone with some juice. MBB needs a spark in a big way.
Kinda like football? This AD is a joke.

That's always the problem when a hire doesn't work out. More incentive to make sure that this time you make the right hire. Perhaps better to pay a little more for someone established, instead of someone who comes in as a big question mark.
The problem is that established coaches probably won’t want to come here even if you pay more to match the other schools. Now if you want to pay 1-2 million more then the other schools are offering maybe we have a chance.

The fact that he fired him so quickly tells me they have a game plan in place to replace him. I believe it was absolutely the right move.
now they need a quality hire with some shops. If that means taking a little bit of a chance, I say go for it. In today’s college environment this program can be turned around overnight it’s just going to take proven leadership. The plan is like always hire some assistant from a big program with no real coaching experience.

What are your thoughts on FAU's Dusty May as a potential candidate?
He probably wouldn’t leave FAU for us, FAU will be in the American next year.

I'm fully ready, and I need a guy with a proven resume. Give me Tom Crean or Mike Brey: two guys with more than 400 career wins, each. Don't give me some project. We already have one leading our football program.
I agree if your going to get rid of Gregory you have to hire a proven coach, but seeing how it’s going around USF sports they won’t do that.

Where’s Bryant? Don’t even see him on the bench.

We shot 90% from free throw line today, if we can stay above 75% most games we can win for sure. We would be above .500 if we would of shot above 70%.

They looked like the men’s basketball team at the end of games. That’s how they lost some of their games
-
To bad I don’t watch hockey or cheerleading competitions, because that’s the only teams winning around here. All the other teams just depress me.

any word on broadcast as to why no walker today?
They didn’t say anything, but I think I know why. They probably sat him for the game because of that stupid flagrant foul he had after the whistle against Houston, that cost us 4 points.USF was 4 or 5 points down before that. If I would of been the coach I would of went off on him after the game and told him to transfer if he wants.
-
He spoke about turnovers and points from turnovers, which is the difference in a lot of games. The funny thing is the men basketball team has that problem, they had over 15 turnovers.
-
For some reason I think we’ll keep it close and mess it up.
If at least one player each half catch fire and we shoot good free throw. The game will be close. I guess the chances of that happening is 1%, like ESPN says.

My only point is that one good hire can change everything. If Stan Heath was able to win in the Big East ( one of the best conferences)and win 2 NCAA tournament games just about a decade ago; there is no reason we cant hire someone now who can get us competitive in the AAC. The last 2 hires Gregory and Antigua were horrible hires. We wasted 9 years.
The thing is everyone wanted Stan out even though he took us places we haven’t been.He had a bad season after that great season, But he had the greatest season in USF basketball season. So we have to have patience because ever since that year they fired him we been horrible.
