Completely agree about not being a rebuilding year IF we don't have any more losse,s and may go as far as agreeing with the adequate replacements but nothing indicates they're going to be better ....... especially when you factor in CY's leadership role. Who do you see taking over that role, Jennings, Kobe?

I think it will be an interesting season. We’ve always had decent talent. Like with Gregory we lost a bunch a games by a couple points and we sucked at the free throw line. You turn that upside down and he would probably still be here.

The difference this season was that we had two clutch players that always hit the shot we needed either during a comeback win or to keeps us ahead to win it.
Reid showed flashes of being clutch in a couple games, he has to get better at creating his own shot though.

I currently don’t see anyone on our roster being Youngblood type.I think if we get Amir’s nephew he could be that guy, he is a tall shooting guard at 6’8” and from the highlights I have seen he bullied smaller guards in the paint and the coach ran very similar plays like Amir ran for Youngblood to get him decent 3 point looks.

It’s all about development at this point. As mentioned in another thread, despite these huge losses, the cupboard isn’t empty IF there is continued development from guys like Walker, Tobiloba, Knox and Reid. Reynolds is a legit big, Brown could be an impact freshman and Coach Amir knows what he has in Jennings and Stroud. If they’re all here in the fall, that’s a solid eight to build around. Bring in his nephew from Georgia, Coach Oliver’s son, and a few more solid guys and you have a competitive club.

I agree. I think if Amir’s nephew comes in we might be a different team as in bigger and more physical in most of the positions. We just need that guy that will make shots when we really need them like Youngblood and Miguel did.

We were conference mates for a good while if that's what you mean by same level. We've never really been on their level basketball-wise, though .....

Not basketball just conference wise. They have always been way better than us in basketball. They moved up in conferences and we’re still here.

CAAR took a whole team with him to USF. He understands the game. Besides no we have room for a 4/5 star player in Knox 😎

Maybe coach is clear NIL money for Karter Knox, we can dream right?
    let’s see what happens.

None of those guys are likely to play in the NBA, 4 or so will likely play pro but overseas. If they get a 6 figure payday, there is 0 reason not to take it. We all would likely do the same.

No way they are getting 6 figure nil deals.
And money is cool but I know they want to play. A example of that is Battie, he probably had shot at the NFL by staying here forget about it now. He wanted to come back but we said no.

At least 2 of the 3 will be like battie, the problem is I think they are all seniors.

Think Pryor will eventually play pro. Overall his skills are too good to be ignored. I pretty much knew he was heading to the NBA after he basically lead his team to a comeback victory over Rice at the YC. He was basically the one that ignited USF’s run imo

He has potential, which is why scouts want to see more. At the moment he wouldn’t even get drafted. He had good games but unless he is taking over games day in and day out he won’t get drafted. He will get a shot at the nba though through summer league and Gleague. Most kids that get drafted are Dominating in college against top level competition. Dominque jones dominated in college he could get any shot he wanted which why he got drafted, but he only lasted a couple seasons.

The biggest "keep" is Coach Amir. Obviously, players will come and go - and come and go quickly - these days, but we need to keep him as long as we can.

There is good players that stay at mid major programs for their coach, like FAU and this year UAB.i know they don’t have Big NIL money. So the coach and school must not mean nothing to them which is fine, it’s understandable.

I wish them nothing but the best, but I think 2 out of the 3 will be disappointed next year when they aren’t getting the play time they like or the freedom to shoot like they want. They might get some money but might be taking 2 steps back in the process.

I think as soon as CAAR gets a good P5 of he will be gone because good players leaving like this doesn’t make his job easier.Unless we start being able to pay these players there is no other way.

  8. I think we will be ok honestly. I think it’s time for Corey walker to step up and we also have a solid center from the portal. We are currently in need of someone that can basically get their own shot and hit big shots during the game which is what Miguel and Youngblood did for us.

I think if we get maybe CAAR nephew that would fill the void of Miguel or Youngblood. I don’t think Pryor leaving is that big of a deal honestly. I think the biggest loss is Youngblood and Miguel right behind him, ones they left it doesn’t matter who else leaves because the other are replaceable.

We just lost roughly 76 minutes of guard play per game. JR averaged 23 min/gm. He’ll be at 30+ unless CAAR brings in a couple of super studs at that position.

I think he will bring in 1 or 2 shooting guards or small forwards. Hopefully his nephew!!

Just FYI, Coach Amir's nephew is in the portal . . .

He’s dad is a millionaire former NBA player so we probably have a chance since he doesn’t need the money.

also in portal is former Bull,  Ryan Conwell from Indiana State

    Probably following his coach.

We're younger than those teams/programs.   Problem is more about the fact that we sucked for so long and seemed to have no real vision for athletics

    Thanks Judy

I saw the the press conference for the new SMU basketball coach and they were talking about how they set up a power 5 committee to move to the ACC. They were being proactive, what are we doing????

  12. Dam!! what do we do now boys?? There is some ballers in the portal can CAAR pull one out from there or get Knox some how? If coach is staying here let’s see what he can do.

Does Memphis have a lot NIL money? because they get good players all the time. They basically have the 2 top scores in the AAC on the same team and our 2 best players are leaving????I’m not sure how we can’t get some money to pay someone to come here, that’s how it works now days. Let’s start a NIL gofundme or something.

We're freeing up salary cap to sign Karter Knox

    Michael Jordan Lol GIF

Dude, this is Karter Knox team next year if he wants it. That’s crazy the way Caar and Youngblood were I didn’t see this coming. I still think the grass is not always greener on the other side, maybe they will get some money but might end up not playing.

No chance he gets a whiff at UK, but depending on who Kentucky hires that opening could be an issue.

Yup I think CAAR would leave if he got an offer from a Georgia school. If the UG coach doesn’t do well next year he might be gone, then we will really have something to worry about, but who knows because I didn’t see this coming.

Would be a shame if he goes to ucf. To me that is unforgivable. I know it’s different for this young men. But you just don’t go there. Anyone know how much USF haS in the NIL fund?

    IMG_5492.png

He did play high school basketball in Orlando. If he transfers to UCF it’s probably better if he never comes back to USF for anything, I’m sorry. I know a lot former usf players come back during the off season to practice, well he better go to UCF for that. He will be a professional basketball player when he’s done with college basketball, but I doubt it will be in the NBA.
