I don't think reading Strong's body language is a worthwhile use of time. I think that's just who he is, happy or angry he's not a press conference/talk to folks person and his body language is going to reflect his unhappiness doing that.

Agree, and I tried to downplay that as maybe just who he is.

I did hear from some Gators alum that word from a Gville reporter is that Strong reached out to UF to express interest in the job, and disappointment that he wasn't contacted.  Not sure if that's fact or speculation, but would not surprise.

I like Strong as a recruiter, but not sold on him as a coach.  But...he doesn't have to please me.  I do hope he stays, and does well in recruiting & getting our team set to excel in the coming years.

By my math--- here is the winner of the prediction contest-- a Bull fan so probably will want the Bulls tumbler-- if that is any consolation to the rest of us. They picked UCF and a score of 48-30 which was 13 points off the actual score of 49-42 (Cliff notes in case you didn't want to read all of that).

I wish I lost this bet, and we put up a much better effort on offense (seems Strong really cut them loose, finally).  One of the most exciting games, but the bad guys won.

I checked all the scores, and I did come closest, missing by 13 points.  Two others also had UCF at 48, but had USF at 27.

Of course, I want the Bulls tumbler...there will NEVER be UCF stuff in my house.

Looking forward to the bowl game.

UF's best years have been with Danny Wueffel, Chris Leak, Tim Tebow and a dominate defense.  They have never been offensive juggernauts.

So, they tried to get Kelly, Frost & got Mullens. I don't know about be juggernauts, but they could put up points, and they have been WOEFUL the last 2 coaches, and their fans/boosters are sick of it.  They KNOW they can play defense on talent alone.  They want/need a potent offense...and though Mullens may have been the 3 or 4th choice, he should help out.

As I wrote on the message board last week, I am a math tutor for FAU football players. Kiffin has completely turned around the football program and many students now wear FAU apparell. There is much excitement around the FAU campus about the Lane Train. Kiffin runs a very fast-paced no huddle offense. They have a very young team who will again win the C-USA east division title next year. If Charlie Strong leaves, I would very much want Kiffin to be our coach. However, I agree, he will only leave Owl Nation ( I know that is funny) for a power five conference not our beloved Bulls.

I'll add that I work in Palm Beach, and I'm seeing more & more FAU gear on casual work days.  He is bringing excitement back, and getting butts in seats.

So lately UF has had pretty good defenses and won despite offenses that didn't meet expectations yet they couldn't fire the coach fast enough.

I fail to see why CCS wouldn't be at the top of their list!

there is NO WAY UF hires Strong (or any DC or defensive minded coach).  They are looking to get an explosive offense that McElwain promised, but failed miserably to provide. UF will always get amazing talent on offense.  But they have whiffed on QBs (maybe they've recruited well, but not developed).

I have no doubt UF won't take CCS, unless they tire of Shannon, and want to upgrade (and CCS is ok with a DC gig).  But Arky/OleMiss and the like might be interested, in large part due to his recruiting chops in FL.

Believe what you want, I only post if I have something useful.   Used to work in athletics for a number of years so I couldn't post when I worked

But please don't mention me in the same breath as ucif.   This is why many of us don't post here....

I don't know if you're legit or not, and what you say could be true (his body language surely shows it, but he seemed similar at UL & UT).

I've heard some conflicting reports, that he's frustrated with a few things, but looking forward to getting his guys on board & building his own team.  Who knows, other than a small group?

I will say that I'm not giving you a hard time, but I don't know how/why someone would be part of a blog community and NOT chime in.  I work more hours than most, and travel a fair amount...but I take time to read & opine.  Being part of the discussion & interaction is what makes TBP the best Bulls blog out there.

Good thing is, we'll find out about Strong soon enough.  But as said before, beat UCF and the rest of the chips can fall where they may.  If he loses to UCF, his stock likely suffers, as he'll have beaten only teams with losing records with a well stocked team from Taggart (which Strong admitted early)...but lost to the only 2 teams he faced with winning records.  That's not exactly a resume that screams for a Tennessee or UCLA to poach him.

  7. 1) The winning team:  The Bad Guys (UCF).  This hurts to type, but our O has been out of synch most of the year, and I don't see that changes here, as the stubborn OC & HC know this season will be over soon enough, and they likely really think theirs is a better system.
    2) The final score: 48-30
    3) Bulls leading rusher:  Flowers, with some creative busts.  I'd prefer Tice & DJ break 100, but that only happens if Flowers proves he can beat UCF with his arm, as they WILL stuff the box and force us to throw until it hurts them.  Remember Price...TEs can exploit UCF, so let's get Dillon & Wilcox the ball.
    4) Bulls leading receiver:  MVS, took most of the Tulsa game off, so he could set the USF record at Disney in front of 30K goofy fans, and some loud Bulls fans.
    5) Bulls total offensive yards (closest without going over):  469...because that's always my #.

As much as I'm disappointed at what I see as the outcome, most of my work buds (not tied to USF or UCF) are predicting USF pulls it out.  If we can beat them, and ruin their season,  no one needs to get me anything for Christmas again (bonus gift:  Scott Frost would bolt, just before the Lawn Mowing Bowl, sending Knight tears flowing down Oviedo, testing their drainage capacity.

    GO BULLS!!!

I really don't get the no plays before half. it's literally the same as between quarters.

We've rushed for 222 yards...why not try a gut run, draw or screen.  Playing not to lose is painful.  This isn't Miami...it's Tulsa.  It's SAFE to take a shot to score again, with 3 TOs.

And, if a writer has the balls to ask Strong why he didn't try at least one play, expect: "We take what the defense gives us.  That's all you do".

Good point. If there's one thing UCF has shown, they would never put a person's life in danger through negligence.

WINNER!  "I only regret that I have one Like to give"

But seriously, man how those Knights obsess over all things USF.  I don't care enough about UCF to hate them, and I work with a few Knights are pretty cool.  But these tools are rabid.  That said, I WILL go to the game and I WILL stroll thru their tailgates.  Gimps.

I think it goes to OT, but at least then you have a chance.  Who knows maybe they miss the kick?

Maybe, but if I recall, they had no TO's left.  But I suppose with 12-13 seconds left, they could spike.  But on those scrambles, the players get spread out.

Yep, the last TD run was this, the DE kept the outside containment too.  The problem was Nico Sawtelle.  He over pursued to one side and that reopened that outside lane and with his lack of speed he couldnt tackle him at the 5.  If he doesnt over pursue he at least slows him down around the 12 or 15 yard line.

That's what really hurts.  Had ANYONE been able to slow him & get help, he maybe gets tackled in bounds & the clocks expires.

  12. I saw him on the sideline Sunday, not dressed.  He Tweeted that he was excited about his first trip to the UK.

Glad he got to make the trip before getting cut. Vikes have a lot of quality WRs, so maybe there was just no room for him.

Hopefully he's healthy & gets picked up.  I do worry about his ability to withstand the NFL beatings, but wish him well.  A true class act, and definitely missed this year.

    Sarcasm?

It's actually true.  This sucks, but if we run the table...meaning UCF and Memphis (or whoever in the AAC champ game), we would surely be the highest ranked G5 team & hit the Peach Bowl.  Odds are a bit long...but no longer than they were before we gifted that game to Houston.
