Yeah..... I highly doubt it. Hope to be proven wrong.

This is awesome!

QuoteOregon
Old coach: Mark Helfrich
New coach: Willie Taggart
Grade: BComment: This is definitely a new look for Oregon, and it may work out with Taggart. Finances played a bigger role in this search than many anticipated, as Taggart will actually make slightly less money ($3.3 million per year) than Jeff Brohm will at Purdue. Oregon is betting that it hired a future superstar with a higher ceiling than more expensive and established candidates like Dan Mullen. Taggart has recruited well everywhere he’s been, which is key for a job like Oregon.

Can Coach Strong dunk?
Charlie's a pretty short guy, so i highly doubt it lol

BMM now tweeting a deal has been reached! It's official fellas, we have our coach!

Just a reminder, CWT met with Oregon AD days before signing anything. Doesn't always happen immediately.

They could if Taggert isncalling the plays. BUT, I doubt they will. Anything close to $2million per year would make him the highest paid assistant in the ncaa. Arranda just got 1.8mil base at LSU.
For comparison, I think LSUs salary pool is about $5.8 million..

I'll say it again, I don't think all coaches are in it for the money.
I don't either, epsecially in Strongs position right now. Just pointing out that I don't think Oregon can match us in this scenario.

Can they? Yes. Phil Knight was willing to put up 10 million / yr for the right head coach so I imagine similarly money is no object for crucial staff. Will they? Who knows. Brady Hoke was set to make $700,000 / yr as DC so obviously we would pay Strong more than that. The X factor is Oregon booster pockets and Strong's buyout agreement with the horns.
I really don't think they can. Frost was the highest paid assistant in there history and made $755k, you think they can more than double that?

To influence Strong, you can imagine the crap coming out of dear Willie's mouth about USF and getting the hell out?
Come on Brad... There is zero reason to assume Willie is doing that.

He's not actively pushing strong FWIW, He's merely expressed that he would be interested in having Strong on staff if he's willing. This isn't some kind of bidding war for Strong.....
This. I don't think people should be too pissed at Taggart. He knows he needs a good DC and one of the best in the country is currently unemployed, he'd be an idiot to not express interest and reach out. Let's not assume he's putting down USF or anything.

This seems like agent speak to me.. Why would strong go be a D-coordinator at Oregon? He's a Florida recruiter that had trouble recruiting in Texas. Why would it be any easier to do it at Oregon? I think that this is all rangling by Strong's agent to get more money out of USF.
Um.... He did not have trouble recruiting at Texas, best class in the Big 12 in 2015 and 2016. This would be a great move for Strong, worries me quite a bit.

I saw a quote that indicates Strong wants a P5 job.... not good

If we did get Strong would he coach in the bowl game?
Nope

isn't it possible he is going to meet them today?? he can't control unofficial announcements
I think this is the case. From what I've seen, he got the offer last night and contract talks lasted for a bit. Probably didn't want to send a mass text at 5 am to the players when he could talk to them today.

No one in college football I would rather see USF beat than Will Muschamp. I'm pretty excited for this matchup. Only crappy part is I have to figure out how to watch during work....

****. I was wrong.

Very well deserved. Was cool to see Shaquem Griffin winning the DPOTY as well.

I think what we really want is Ohio to beat W. Michigan and Navy to beat Temple and get the invite to the Cotton Bowl...that would open up the armed forces bowl for Houston who would prolly get a 5-7 N Texas team that snuck in on its APR, Temple would get the ACC matchup in the armed forces bowl and we would go to bham to play a not Vanderbilt SEC team.
I haven't paid much attention, but is that a legitimate scenario? Seems unlikely we get a cotton bowl bid if Navy wins the conference, or in any case.

No he's not.

I'd be very surprised if they took CWT. I imagine Frost is higher on their list for multiple reasons, and i highly doubt Frost would turn an offer down.
However, I am a little concerned about the domino affect if they go another route, whomever it may be.

Only two AAC coaches on the Paul "Bear" Bryant Coach of the Year watch list, CWT and Tom Herman.

FAU could be a could spot.
