  1. The game itself will show how big of a "joke" we've become. I shudder to think how bad this game may get. I don't think signs will work. I think its time to bust out the KragHoltz paperbags over our heads (that someone posted eariler this week). Its a way to show our displeasure with Holtz without putting it into words.

i would love to bring a paper bag, but i can just see TSA trying to take it away from me at the gate, me yelling at them, getting arrested, resisting, tazing, pepper spray...its a slippery slope.
  2. Think we need to show our regional audience how pissed we are.

It will do nothing but make fans USF a big joke ....

Who cares? The team is already a big joke.

LOL ... You can always tell when we lose a game because you and Randy show up like stink on **** .... which is apropos this time because of the giant turd the team laid.

But back to the signs ... bring them and two things happen. They're ignored or the talking heads talk about how ******* stupid our fans are. For obvious reasons I can see how the latter wouldn't really bother you too much.

i dont see how all of this is going to fit on a sign
  3. Woulard isn't consistent in high school. does anybody who says they can;'t wait ever checked a boxscore???

I saw the highlights of his most recent game. Not very impressed. Made a pretty bad read standing in the end zone and threw a pick six.

lets also remember hes 17 years old....our qb makes some of the dumbest decisions ever and hes almost 23. im willing to bet woulard progresses a lot, bj has progessed NONE in 4 years.

why would you bet that? have you seen him play? everyone thought brion carnes was going to light up college ball. he was from the same mold. great athlete. accuracy and decision making problems. he can't crack top 3 at nebraska and they like running QBs.

you don't think BJ has tried to get better? you think the staff hasn't tried to make him better?

fact is a lot of these kids that they call dual threat are really just athletes that play the position. it's very rare to get a QB that can both run and pass. michael vick still has accuracy issues

this staff hasn't been able to turn the 8th ranked dual threat into a passing QB what makes you think they will be able to turn the next one into one? there are people that actually think he will come in and play right away...

i would bet that because hes only played 1 year of qb, and he won mvp at the most prestigious qb competition in the country. there isnt much more pressure than that for a 17 year old, espn telecast against the top 20+ qbs. and yes, ive driven to orlando twice this year to specifically see him play. im not saying he doesnt make mistakes, but when you see someone like George Whitfield talk very highly of him, and say he sees very similar football iq and decision making as cam, thats a very good sign. im sure a lot of this is wishful thinking on my part, but its hard not to be optimistic after seeing what he did under pressure on tv...he has moxy. when bj is under pressure he folds up like a cheap tent. when i went to orlando, i made it a point to closely watch and see if he was properly going thru his progessions, and at times i was extremely encouraged. watching a highschool qb thats played the position for a year see his #1 and 2 options covered up, and then checking down with an accurate pass to his rb out of the backfield for a 6 yard gain just makes me think things are bound to get at least a little better, because lord knows they cant get any worse....unless we lose to ball st of course, then its meltdown time ha.

he won a skills competition. that's pressure??

jamarcus russel was a combine phenom.how'd that translate?

his m.o. is poor decision making, accuracy issues and no pocket awareness. sound familiar?

he's an athlete playing the position of QB. if he has a pass run ratio close to 3 he will be as ineffective as BJ Daniels

Love the optimism for one of our most highly rated recruits in history at the most important position on the field. I'm willing to bet he's a better QB than BJ by the middle of his sophmore year. I doubt he starts game 1 as a true freshman, but he could start towards the end of the year if it's a disaster under Floyd.

my thoughts exactly. last time i checked peyton manning isnt walking thru the door anytime soon. lets not put down a recruit with a large upside until he gives us a reason to on the field, in college.

  6. B.J has always been inconsistent. I wouldn't be surprised if he throws for 3 touchdowns against FSU and then 3 ints against Temple. You never know which B.J Daniels you will get.

He is what He is, we won't contend for a Big East championship until we have consistent play at the QB position. Hopefully Woulard sticks with us.

However, B.J didn't play as bad as the numbers suggest against Rutgers. There were some drops, tipped balls that lead to interceptions, and one interception that CLEARLY hit the ground. He played okay considering our complete lack of a running game and Rutgers solid defense. At least we are throwing the deep ball this year.

those tipped balls you speak of were only tipped because they were thrown behind his intended receivers, ala bjs fault. i think hes the first qb in history to throw a more accurate 40 yard pass than an 8 slant.
  7. I need someone to take off their green and gold goggles for a second and give an honest assessment.

The other day I was speaking with a former USF Athlete. He said that 10 years ago our collection of athletic facilities was atrocious as compared to other universities, I'm sure we all agreed. He notes that the upgrades are significant and now put us as middle of the road Big East.

He said however, that our overall collection would be at the bottom of a conference like the ACC. He noted that some schools have spent more money on football only facilities than we spent on the athletic center that houses all sports.

Just curious how we do compare, and was looking for the opinion from somebody who has had the opportunity to see the facilities at other universities.

im not sure how true that is anymore. at the softball super regionals earlier this year i was speaking with a big time UF donor, and he said our new baseball/softball facilities were easily nicer than theirs, and far and away the nicest in the big east now. and im sure our new basketball facilities along with the muma center are top tier in our conference as well.
  8. I will cry next year after estanor and popek graduate. THEN we will really be up ****s creek

popek is a large human, but hes always been terrible. some of the slowest feet ive ever seen, and you shouldnt get pancaked that easily when youre 30 lbs heavier than every d lineman you go up against.
  9. I don't see 'Big East Network' as a channel on Fios. Does Brighthouse have it?

Last year those games were on the Bright House Sports Network Channel. I'm not sue if that's the case anymore.

This is the last year of them covering college sports. Going to all High School after this.

Glorious. I can officially cancel my Bright House television sub next year. USF was the only reason I had it.

usf is the only reason i have them as well. the only thing worse than brighthouse tv is brighthouse internet. and the eqiupment they use is garbage, always breaking.
  10. The funny thing is, one of the biggest complainers who dropped by to express her opinion was bmd91. Look at the photo she put in her avatar which I guess is her. It is a model type photo of an attractive blonde in a dark dress and barefoot looking up at the camera.

all this makes no sense. girls put risque pictures up on facebook in order to get attention from guys, and when this happens they get all pissy pants. women never know what they want!

  11. While I'm obviously disappointed, am I the only one that thinks it is okay for an institution of higher learning to act like one?

Yeah, I see how USF shouldn't possibly let 1 of 48,000 students slide through with a 2.4 instead of a 2.5

If you let one do it, what happens when 100 others try to get in with a 2.4?

I really see no reason to make a single exception for an NBA caliber basketball player with a 2.4 when you only have 47,999 spots left if he takes one.

So, next year we let someone in with a 2.3, then maybe a 2.0 the next year, just as long as they're talented.

    exactly
  12. *per the Consortium Agreement entered into by USF, Hillsborough Community College, St. Petersburg College and Pasco Hernando Community College.

does anyone have any knowledge on this whole consortium agreement usf entered into? why and when they did this? does heath know about this (i would hope so)? and most importantly, if he knew waverly didnt go to one of these listed jucos, and needed a 2.5 not a 2.0, wouldnt he have known his 2.4 gpa made him ineligible a long time ago? just seems like the communication here was completely lacking. maybe Greg can give some insight here. i dont care WHERE our recruits come from, as long as they come. so giving juco student atheletes from only these institutions gpa favoritism is beyond stupid, and will continue to limit the top level talent we actually have a chance in signing now. do other big east or florida universities also sign this type of agreement to keep backyard talent close to home?

  14. I offered my two cents in a response back to the article... whether it gets posted or not remains to be seen. I'll share it here though...

Mr. Powell... I found some of the information in your article quite refreshing detailing the upbringing of Jason Pierre-Paul. Your repeated attempts at sarcasm though mocking a football program that spans 15 years is quite pubescent for a writer with a MS in Journalism from Northwestern.

If we both recall correctly, Northwestern has the longest losing streak in FBS history (34 games). USF only became FBS eligible in 2001. USF achieved its first Top 25 ranking faster than any other Division I-A school in the modern era. Northwestern? Bueller? But let's not focus on Northwestern... that is not the intent of my reply.

Let's discuss USF football alumnus in the NFL - we have six players that have received Super Bowl rings. That is one less ring than the seven years you spent at the highly acclaimed Miami New Times. Can you sense my sarcasm? If I recall correctly, before JPP made the jump to the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys tendered a $25 million contract to Anthony Henry. I guess an unnamed arena player making $400 a game was more noteworthy for your article.

We don't have the storied history or the criminal past as FSU, UF, and Miami, but we have altered the landscape considerably over the last 15 years. We have wins over FSU and Miami... even the Auburn faithful realize we're not some meddling low-profile team after we left Jordan-Hare with a W on our record.

As an alumnus and a former walk-on, I just wanted to set the record straight.

    Respectfully,

    Michael T. Lucas

haha love it. very well written.
  15. I have to go to a stupid bachelor party in Tampa that weekend (flying in from San Antonio). Any recommendations on where to watch the game in Tampa that weekend? Totally pissed about not being in Nevada as that would be my away game road trip.

doesnt sound like a very good friend. ive never understood people that plan ANYTHING that interferes with usf football games.
