  1. UConn defeats Notre Dame 8-1 for the championship. What a disgrace. 9-15 in the regular season, 30-26 overall, and they get our conference bid. Bigger disgrace is that UConn baseball is better than USF baseball.
  2. I think he gets another year. His contract is up after next season and I think DW and co were encouraged by this season, so he gets another shot. If no regional next year, let him walk... simple as that. I don't think he was in danger this season. Remember, DW gave Prado the extension after two losing seasons and where we missed the Big East tournament for the first time, so its hard to see him giving him the axe after he rewarded failure (granted the x-factor in that may have been the new stadium). I do think DW lets Prado's contract expire after next year if he is unable to come up with any kind of hardware. We've been nothing but a mediocre team in a less than stellar conference in probably the most talent rich state in the country.
  3. In case you were wondering UConn and Notre Dame both won their games today to make the championship. The Big East has the #7 seed against the #8 seed. Kinda embarrassing that two teams with sub .500 conference records are going to the the finals to go the NCAA tournament.
  4. Here's the breakdown of our performance in the Big East tournament. 12-14 overall record, Qualified 7 out of 8 years. Made only 1 championship game. 2006 (8th seed) 0-2 > L 1-8 vs #1 Notre Dame > L 4-6 vs #4 St Johns 2007 (5th seed) 2-2 [in Brooklyn, NY] > W 2-1 vs #4 Pittsburgh > W 2-0 vs #1 St Johns > L 0-3 vs #8 UConn > L 0-2 vs #8 UConn 2008 (6th seed) 2-2 > W 9-3 vs #3 Notre Dame > L 1-11 vs #2 Cincinnati (7 innings due to mercy rule) > W 12-5 vs #7 West Virginia > L 2-13 vs #2 Cincinnati (8 innings due to mercy rule) 2009 (2nd seed) 2-2 > W 12-2 vs #7 Pittsburgh (8 innings due to mercy rule) > L 2-4 vs #6 UConn > W 11-6 vs #3 West Virginia > L 8-10 vs #6 UConn 2010 (5th seed) 1-2 > L 2-3 vs #4 St Johns > W 10-5 vs #8 West Virginia > L 7-9 vs #1 Louisville 2011 (Did Not Qualify) 2012 (4th seed) 4-2 > L 2-7 vs #5 UConn > W 12-5 vs #8 Pittsburgh > W 6-1 vs #1 Louisville > W 1-0 vs #5 UConn > W 2-1 vs #5 UConn > L 3-7 vs #2 St Johns [Championship match] 2013 (4th seed) 1-2 > W 5-2 vs #5 Rutgers > L 7-8 vs #8 UConn > L 1-2 vs #5 Rutgers Records against teams 3-0 vs West Virginia 3-0 vs Pittsburgh 1-1 vs Notre Dame 1-1 vs Rutgers 1-1 vs Louisville 1-3 vs St Johns 2-6 vs UConn 0-2 vs Cincinnati
  5. And the collapse is complete. Not really sure how to assess this team right now nor its coach.
  6. Only a club team. I would love for USF to go NCAA with lacrosse. Its a fast growing sport in Florida and their are only two programs in the state (women's at Florida, men's at JU). It would also appeal to the ACC who is big on lacrosse.
  7. Something like Husky Stadium with an over hang would be good.
  8. Isn't it great having the day off to relax and rest before making a last push? Oh, that's right. Sorry, I tried to erase the second half of that game from my memory, hoping it was a bad dream from last night. Well, hopefully the dumpster fire has been put out and our guys are refocused and ready to win 4 straight games. #3 Pittsburgh vs #2 Seton Hall - 3:00pm (winner to play #7 Notre Dame) #4 USF vs #5 Rutgers - 6:00pm (winner to play #8 Connecticut) How about that the two worst seeded teams are sitting atop right now. Sad for Big East baseball.
  9. Note that the map with the "stadium outline" was made before the Muma Center was built.
  10. On the verge of greatness, we choke and steal defeat from the jaws of victory. Perhaps it's overconfidence? Whatever the source, this is behaviour that needs to change. At this point, it's almost become engrained in our DNA as a program.
  11. VooDoo Five rears its head again. Just when we have a chance to do something great, we go and frak it up royally. And against UConn no less. The level of my frustration is beyond words right now.
  12. I'll gladly eat crow for right now. It's been ugly to watch, but wins are wins. Not sure what was said or done after that Georgetown trip, but it sure as hell has made this team a gritty team (minus that weekend in New Jersey). I just think it's taken the best part of the season for them to figure out who they were as a team Jimmy has really progressed as a Frosh and I think this team has finally figured out that they can score runs without hitting the long ball. I think the NJ weekend was just exhaustion. Our long road trips take a toll. The change in climate is taxing too. I am pretty sure that taxes our FB team as well. We've got em all in the sweat box this weekend though. We'll see how ND likes Saturday's weather. It's FL weather West coast style. The only team that might not be at a disadvantage is Rutgers. They've been down here since May 15, so they've acclimated by now. Also, we've played our games both after the sun had gone down. Saturday and Sunday our games will be in the middle of the afternoon, so the heat and sun will really become a factor.

  14. Alright now we need the defense to step up. Don't let them back in this game, lots of chances left for UConn.
  15. UConn pitcher being pulled. 73 pitches, 3 1/3 inning pitched. Way to grind their pitcher down. Do the same with the new guy. Plus this burns their bullpen for tomorrow and Saturday. War of attrition.
