1. The only name on that list i'm not sure about is the CB Jamire Williams... is he a commit?  anyone have any info?

Agreed, that one was new to me, as well. Unfortunately, I'm heading to the jungle of Costa Rica tomorrow (well, not that unfortunately....), so i'm trying to find a good list just in case I come across some destitute wifi watering hole down there to log into the bullspen...lol.

  2. We did sell our soul for the super bowl win and we got it with Gruden.  What town are you living in, man? We haven't had 5 good games since that win.

Glad for TD, though.  His firing caused him to change some of his stubbornness and make him a better coach.  I don't think he's a prince, but a good man who's had some tough cards handed to him the last year and a half and played them out like a man should. My hat's off to him.

  3. Great list, thanks for compiling it. Has 28 names on it, which seems par for what the Jimster has been saying.  Anyone have any late thoughts as to who might be added, and therefore, subtracted? Pat Grant? Joe Jones?  Jake Lanefski? Jatavious Jackson? Wasn't there another McKaskill, maybe a brother on the list?

  4. Ridiculous article.  Coaching is a fraternity, they all know they're going to be out on their arses one day, so they constantly just offer up props to each other to keep good reps out there in the fraternity.  You NEVER hear coaches saying, "wow, that was the most easily defendable play at the end of a game that I've ever seen" or "wow, sure would be nice to have 10 guys in your rotation, not 6".

Pure folly.  Just give me W's.

Dadgummit, tampajo, now that makes sense!  Why do so many of us have a hard time grasping the bottom line?

I know, I know, E=MC2, and therefore, Robert McCullum is a good head coach.  And that's a great argument....it really is.

But tampajo may just be on to something here.  Wins and losses to enter into the evaluation process.....just a tad.

What was it, 7 wins last year and already 11 this year.  There is progress.

He has brought in some better talent and fixed Seth's mess and instilled discipline.  If he can land a couple of bigs, then there is even more hope.  I'm willing to give him more time.

Naw, the more wins are just a function of a MUCH easier earlier schedule, check out the RPI for all the teams we beat, it's embarassing. Woolard is the first quarter of the year's MVP for scheduling such cream puffs.

  6. Lets see... lets look at this years roster, including any signed players that will be with us next year...

    Gransberry*

    Verdejo*

    Mattis*

    Buckley*

    Bozeman*

    Howard*

    Curry*

    Holmes*

    Jones*

    Cann^

    Capko

    Richardson

    Williams

Of those 13... 9 are definite big east talents.  And Cann still could be... we'll see how his knee surgury goes.  9 out of 13 isn't half, or if you take signee jones - 8 out of 12 isn't half.  This is the most talent we have ever had on the roster at one time at USF... now we just need to take advantage of it.

Getting a couple big men to replace Richardson (Hart from HCC could do that.. i don't care if he isn't big east caliber... it is the late period and having someone 6'8 210 or bigger is a need, and the kid from Tallahasseee would be a very good late addition, if it has any chance of happening.  I don't think we'll find any 6'10-7 footers out there for next season, so Gransberry is going to be on his own at center)

^ Cann certainly had the talent coming out of HS... we'll see how he recovers.

    *  Definite BE talent... not even debatable... at least not by FLSportsfan, as his post has proven he knows jack about hoops.

Ummmmmmmmm, with all this "Big East" talent, where are all the W's?  Most of these guys are jucos or transfers, "learning curve" isn't an option with them.  Hmmmmmmmmm, wow, what could it be that with all this talent, we have 2 conference W's..........hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

  7. Hell, are you kidding me? you folks need to get lives.  Mike Ford, 5 star running back, ENROLLED ALREADY?? all those kids from last year - Spires, McKaskill, etc. - who everyone was so up in arms that they didn't "make it", are now this year's gains.  Sinclair, Kelly, McClain, Butler, did anyone look at tape on these guys.  DO YOU HONESTLY THINK WE"VE BEEN RECRUITIN ATHLETES LIKE THIS THE LAST FEW YEARS???  This whole program was founded on the word, "believe", from the day they were in a trailer and playing Kentucky Wesleyan.  I no longer need to believe, I can SEE. A great quarterback returning for 3 years, our biggest loss (LBS) is last year's biggest recruiting success, not to mention Robinson and Spires, who might just step ahead of the redshirt freshmen anyways....not to mention, our single, biggest TREMENDOUS need, a star RB, we have a 5 star MAN recruited and practicing already.

Sit back, sports fans, and enjoy...............................life is good.

  8. Unbelievable!  Does anyone notice what CRM started with!? Greenberg stole $ from USF for years. He recruited 3rd tier JUCO players and had zero work ethic. He couldn't put a competitive team on the court in a lesser conference (CUSA). CRM has made considerable progress in building a program that we all can be proud of.  Is he there yet? Obviously not...but we're getting much better. Hell, he started the year with what.... 8 players! Give the man a break and some support.

Dude, the point you're missing here is HE'S THE GUY WHO GAVE HIMSELF 8 PLAYERS, IT"S HALF HIS JOB.  everyone looks the other way and says "poor guy, such a thin roster" when he was the one who recruited risky players, recruited bad players and allocated scholarships by academic year.  he's not the defendant, he's the perp. Wake up here.

  9. Nice start, but let's try a more realistic appraisal....

    CENTER

Grandsberry SR  (solid, all conf potential, but has to prove durability over longer stretch of games)

Williams JR- injured right now (but proved nothing when he was in, large body, small results, not a regular rotation player)

    POWER FORWARD

Cann So- hasnt played (fruitless to count on him, lost scholarship)

    SMALL FORWARD

Saaka-So (unproven, glimpses of potential, but no significant results, still finding a role, ankle injury could impact rest of the  year)

Holmes-RFR- transfer from FSU (big time recruit with mysterious immediate transfer scenario, should help tremendously)

    SHOOTING GUARD

Verdejo-Jr (head case, disappears for long stretches, fringe rotation player, has talent, but not fitting in yet)

Curry-RFR-out with injury (injury risk when he returns, but a player, in high school)

Jones-incoming FR (athletic recruit, should help)

    POINT GUARD

Howard-So (solid PG, but runs risk of either knee going, his availability makes or breaks season, tough risk to program)

Bozeman-So (out of position at PG, small for SG and stats have cratered versus conference opponents, talent who has yet to find his niche in top level div 1 competition)

and you can see that if he lands the two JUCOS PF his team would be better than now. So you can see how a good ending and low budget might work for his advantage. (seems to me to still be a bleak scenario, only one way to go...UP)

As i said i just dont think USF has the bucks to upgrade at this time

  10. Does it surprise you? Did you expect anything different this year with only Buckley, Mattis and Capko back from a team that won less than 10 games last year?

It is what it is and we DONT have the talent nor experience of playing together to be anything but at BEST an avg team when we are at our best.

Is the REALITY of the current situation

You are completely illogical Cubanbull.  You defend Mac to the grave, yet you post things like this that say that Mac can't recruit and his teams suck. HOW CAN YOU DEFEND THE MAN WHILE ON THE OTHER HAND ADMITTING HE CANT RECRUIT AND HIS TEAM SUCKS???

    WTF??

He admitted no such thing from what I read...

Take a logic course, Idol boy, his statement of "we DONT have the talent nor experience of playing together to be anything but at BEST an avg team when we are at our best." says that playing our BEST, we are at best, an average team, means that when not at our best, WE SUCK. also, stating that only Moe, Larry and Curly , er, Buckley, Mattis and Capko coming back from a team that only won 10 games is also a) horribly overmanned with other teams that have multiple guys back and B) horribly overmatched from an individual talent perspective...ergo, we can't recruit either.

Hey, maybe Oprah might recommend a book on the topic........

  11. If Marquette's 3-point shooting is worth a ****, they'll light us up, as our guys generally disregard any thought of defending the perimeter

You're in luck.  Our 3pt game generally sucks.  If our guards can't penetrate your D (which they do very well), then we could be in for a long night.  Also, how deep is your bench?  We've got one of the worst FT shooting teams in the BE - so the "hack anybody" strategy could work too  :P

Don't get me wrong, we've got a great team, but there are weaknesses.  If you trust (RPI) numbers, your team is better than Valparaiso, and they almost beat us when we visited their place earlier this year.  We play a disrupting defense, and rely on fast break points for a lot of our scoring.

Nothing is a sure thing is this league, so all MU fans will be huddled around their radios (err...streaming internet) until we hear the final buzzer on this one.

This guy must be smoking the crackpipe to stay warm in poor man's Chicagoland.  Marquette waxed Duke by 11 and Connecticut by 3 ON THE ROAD!!!  I hope we stay in the gym with Marquette. Lou Holtz Jr. here must be laughing all the way to the bratwurst factory this morning thinking we bought this line of BS....

  12. The second point, who are you going to go be a fan of then?  UM?  FSU?  Texas?  Michigan? Bama?

I didn't know there was a requirement to be a fan of any team or any sport for that matter.  I can live just fine without college football just as I live without being interested in the NFL, MLB, or the NBA.

Great then. Enjoy your life, have fun.

Maybe you might think you are participating on the wrong board then?  perhaps I'd suggest www.iliveunderarockandhavemissedwhatsgoingonintherealworld.com  ?

  13. No one hates USF.

How many times have you been in a conversation with a fan of say FSU or Miami or whatever and you say something negative about their school and the person asks, "you must be a Gator" or "you must be 'Nole". Then you answer with, "no, i'm a USF fan."

Suddenly, the conversation turns, and they say "oh, i like USF. they're allright."

    THAT'S A PROBLEM, FOLKS.

We'll know USF is big time when you can go to work and argue around the water cooler.

Pretty decent point, and I'm not even a Shoop fan....

  14. Does it surprise you? Did you expect anything different this year with only Buckley, Mattis and Capko back from a team that won less than 10 games last year?

  15. Do you guys get Dan Silieo over there in the Tampa Bay area ?  He is an ex-Miami player and pretty full of himself but not bad listening too.  He doesn't cover the Bulls much but he thinks they are a pretty good team.

The only guy who's a bigger tool than Deumig in the tampa market is Sileo.  He's got two topics, 1. Canes 2. Transitioning all other topics into something somewhat relevant to the Canes.  He also doesnt' think the bulls are worth a ****, see numerous earlier strings re: his website polls, etc.

    Unlistenable.

Tampajo, you obviously don't know what you're talking about. He predicted that USF would be BE champs in 2007 just this very morning. I don't get you guys who listen to what you want to hear. I agree, Tampajo, that he is a MIAMI blowhard but he gives many other teams their due props in the state of florida. Listen to the whole show or at least more that one and you'll see what i'm talking about.

I appreciate the input, compadre, but you apparently were on spring break when he had his whole "usf is stuffing the ballot box" drama re: his "best team in florida" poll on his website, whining like al gore when someone finally told him he hadn't discovered the internet.   I stand firmly by my remarks that he's 1. a tool 2. only talks about canes and 3. only segues other topics to cane topics.  Frankly, I welcome the Mike Peppers of the world to give local talk it's due, because this POS wakes me up every morning, only because I fall asleep listening to WDAE programming at night....sorry, 4th topic for sileo, performing oral on Bruce Allen, his butt buddy from the Raiders. You are right, I don't know what I"m talking about.

    Okay now I understand YOU...

    Hit a nerve, Mrs. Clinton?
