  1. Buckley hasn't proved anything yet other than supposedly being the best player in practice. That sounds promising but transfers are often times hit or miss. It would be better if Leather was passing the torch to a player like Jones or Diarra so that we wouldn't have to count on untested transfers. Diarra is still a project. Prek was hurt too much to show anything better than being a role players. Capko.....well......if you can't say anything nice....don't say anything at all. BTW....before you cast me as a Sethie Darksider....back up.... I am just trying to be objective.
  2. Nobody wants to lose on purpose. However, it's not uncommon for teams to enter a game flat and sometimes get beat. Fortunately for USF we finally took advantage of a gift and held on at the end.
  3. You are dead on. USF is deemed as one of the worst basketball programs in C-USA. Whatever ground we made up during the late 1990s has completely unravelled the last 3 or 4 years. How many players do you see from STL, SOUTHERN PISS, Tulane and ECU?
  4. Do we still have a band or is it a "band club"? What I mean is that the HOT has decreased in size since it's debut and the performances get progressively worse. there seems to be no leadership or energy from this group. Which is a shame considering that college bands are a big component of the pageatry that makes college football so exciting.
  5. 1. Recruiting: Oh give a rest Bien. You flipflop more than the defeated Senator Kerry. Last year were all over CRM for having the "audacity" to sign a kid like Mobley. So don't act like you haven't been ******** about his recruiting. Prek is still huge unknown, but from what I have seen he will be no more than a role player. Dennis was a good find but I am hoping the kid doesn't get run off. There is nothing wrong with tough love, but that only works if players see results or  if the coach has a proven track record. CRM has neither....hopefully that will change. Solomon Jones had his moments but is not the presence in the paint we are going to need in the Big East. All the other kids you menitoned are just potential signees, and even if we signed them all it would still be an average Big EAst recruiting class. 2.  Let's keep things in perspective. We were better than UNCC on that given Saturday. That win doesn't suddenly erase all the uninspired, bad performances of the last season. A win is a win but let's not take away too much from this game and think we have arrived b/c we have not.  The PROGRAM needs to build on this victory. Notice I mentioned "program" b/c as a team we can't build on this game. All the key players who made that win possible are graduating. Personel wise we have to start all over next year b/c we have no proven players to replace Swift, Leather and Bryant. This is not a early years Tony dungy situation, where although the Bucs were losing games their young players were getting better. USF has lost a lot of games with upperclassman. Outside of Dennis there are no promising young guys we can count on to improve to become impact BE players. That is why CRM needs to improve his recruiting 10-fold. IF not the results are going to be pretty evident the next two or three years. Regarding Seth: who cares and good luck to him. I am tired of people bringing him up. He is no longer our coach. He did some good things while he was here and some not so good things. For as much as some of the Darksiders overstate his achievments, many of you underestimate his contributions and abilities. Say what you will about the guy, but he created a buzz around USF hoops. Unfortunately it didn't happen for us and greenie but it's not the hell some of you are painting it out to be.
  6. That team may actually win a game or two.
  7. 1. Recruiting has been bad.... 2. UNCC was probably looking past USF....but that is there problem not ours. None of these statements are untrue or out of the realm of possibilities so we shouldn't be jumping down a person's throat b/c he has a different opinion. Than the rest of you. We won a big game....GREAT.....however there is a lot of work to be done.
  8. Even the NIT is a reach. However it would do wonders for recruiting and for all our collective psyches to finish the season out like this.
  9. Nothing wrong with the game story, but considering they are the official newspaper for USF I was expecting a column commerating the event. The fact is that they do this all the time.
  10. Howie: when you write "supposed USF fans" with an italicized emphasis on "supposed" it  could lead me to no other conclusion.
  11. ....for essentially ignoring USF making national news on the hardwood and spending you effort digging up old news. It's a good thing you are our official newspapers b/c I shudder to think otherwise. The Tribune hasn't been our best friend recently but at least they recognized the importance of the win last night to get one of their columnists to write up a story. The Late Pete Times should take lessons. I wouldn't clean up my dogs piss with your rag. Good day.
  12. whooooh.....there partner. That sounds carelessly objective about the standard we need to hold this program to, regardless of who is the coach. CRM still has a lot of work to do. However, let us not forget that USF used to be able to regularly compete and win games against mid-level BE teams during the Paschal's & Greenberg's hey days. What that means if CRM can fall into some good players we should at least be able to compete to be middle of the pack BE within two years. The big question is if he can't these kind of players on campus and keep them in the program. I hope CRM lives up to the "great young coach you never heard about" tag given to him by the BE's Mike Tranghsee.
  13. Who the hell is belittling our win last night? Was CRM minimizing our win last night b/c he was not jumping up and down last night and acting like everything wrong with the program has been somehow magically solved?  Do you think we are now suddenly ready for the Big East? We just need to keep things in perspective. CRM was trying to act like we have been there before. That is what CJL did when he walked off Heinz Field a couple of years ago. I am getting really tired of some people questioning my loyalty b/c I have a different opinion or level of enthusiasm. Last night was a great win and long time coming but it's not where we want to be.  The fact that beating a ranked opponent is considered one of our greatest program wins says alot. We hired CRM to change all this and make moments like last night common place. BTW.....I sincerely doubt recruits are going to make a decision based on what any of us write. If USF can't sell the BE, the upcoming facility improvements,  outstanding academic opportunities and a chance to play right away over what we write on a message board.....we have bigger problems.
  14. Sad how USF creating national and HUGE local news last night gets less print than a hatchet piece conjuring up old news. Nice job ..... :
  15. WTF? The man expressed a different opinion and people started trashing the guy b/c he wasn't going with the flow. He wasn't ruinng the moment for anyone.
  16. Geesh.....let the man have his opinion. USF has nothing to be ashamed of by taking advantage of a down 49ers team. Nobody is saying that Charlotte was trying to lose the game or didn't care but there is an unmeasurable factor in basketball called momentum. Something that the 49ers lost after their loss against UL for the conference title. To be frank, until CRM gets this program going I hope every team we face overlooks us or plays uniniterested, b/c we can use the wins.
  17. I appreciate the passion and everything else, however if he can't recruit better.....a whole lot better.....we are dead. Tonight was a start.....and hopefully the start of somethign big.
  18. It's only a big win if the program can build on this victory. Regardless of who is the coach. I'll enjoy it for tonight and throughout the offseason but we need whole lot more of these kinds of wins. From this point on I want to see more steps forward and less humilating losses against teams like Texas Christian. I hope this win help us start building an identity b/c we really don't know what kind of team we have two years into the CRM era. Is it the team that was unprepared at least half a dozen times  this season or is it a team that is only a few buckets away against UAB, Memphis and Marquette of being a 0.500 in C_USA? CRM enters a critical year next year. I could care less who coaches the team as long as he has us going in the right direction. I am hoping that this win can help CRM turn the corner in recruiting talent for the BE.
  19. Why don't we just shut down the football program : Get a grip folks.... The overwhelming majority of the football team follows the rules, plays and studies hard. Don't lose perspective b/c the local rags want to sensationalize events.
  20. I wonder if they have a special Brian Fisher Suite down at the Orient Road Inn
  21. In order for USF to compete we need to figure out how to double the budget to $40-million. That is what our competition is spending to win. Afterall USD decided that we wanted to compete at this level.... right? Nobody twisted our arms and forced us to join a more expensive but higher profile conference...right? As fans we could help this tremendously by improving attendance at football and basketball games. If we could average 40K/game football and 8K/game basketball that would definitely move us into the right direction. Compound that with an increased television contract and then we are talking. The Univesity could help by just getting the marketing done. No excuses. USF has to be creative and assertive in this marketplace to attract attention for itself. Please note that much of the projected budget increase has to go to coaches salaries which were piss poor in C-USA and dead last in the Big East. We can't continue to operate on the cheap in this department or we are going to lose all of our excellent and young non-revenue coaches in soccer, WBB, tennis, softball etc... USF was invited over UCF b/c of our better overall athletic department and success on the field. We can't afford to go backwards!
  22. USF spent an estimated $16.5-million dollars for intracollegiate athletics for FY 2003-2004. In order to be around the $20-million dollar figure we all throw around the budget would have had to been increased by nearly 18% from FY 2002-2003....which I don't think that was the case.
