  1. My guess: The SID never followed up/enforced it. They probably didnt like it in the first place so they ignored the plan. Nice to see that we dont have the worst (statistical) QB in I-A.
  2. Kinda one of my points ET: Are you in charge of fundraising? What is the plan to raise money? What steps have been taken in the last 7 years to increase the donor base and how effective have those steps been? I remember being asked to be a begger for the program and I remember the donor levels going up, but has that done anything to increase the bottom line? WE are not in charge. There are people being paid to develop the program and they should be held accountable if they are not getting the job done. I also feel obligated to say that college football is not a charity, it is a million dollar per year business and an entertainment industry. Earn the money like any other business. Develop a product that people want to see. Advertise it. Then when people come to a game make the experience something that people want to become part of and FOR GODS SAKE TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS WELL!! Then the money will take care of itself.
  3. USF is 100% against B.Y.E., maybe thats why we like to play them twice a year.
  4. Three questions that came to mind. 1.) Why are we spending less than other teams? Is it that we do not have the money, or that we do not have the expenses. Like is debt service on on-campus stadiums part of that number? What makes up the budgets? 2.) How would USF spend the additional funds? Coaches salaries? Better jerseys? Marketing?! 3.) Why is USF so underfunded? Most are state schools and most have even less students than USF. Are most of the funds generated BY AND FOR the athletic department? If so who is responsible for the deficit? I don't think throwing money solves most money problems because most money problems come from a deeper source. Find the reason why USF is behind (other than time spent in the Big East) and fix it.
  5. Yep, guess I missed the whole 2006 thing. Still I bet it'll be the same next year.
  6. With all this free time on my hands today, I've also been thinking about possible offensive coordinators that would be available to USF. The first thing that popped out at me was the total lack of experience on our offensive coaching staff. I would like to have some Wally Burnham type experience over on that side of the ball too. We need someone who has been around, seen how a few different teams run the offensive practice and formulate game plans. Someone who has also been in charge of the offense and has had success doing it. The next thing we need is strong personality to stand up to CJL and take control of the offensive team. A person of character who can lead the team by example. Now we get into the possible benefits. We need somone who will work kinda on the cheap, who needs to step up into a higher level of competition and would be willing to give up $$$ for opportunity. So, with all this freetime, I poked around and found: Norman Joseph Head Coach at Mississippi College. It took me 10 minutes and I think that may be more than USF spent before hiring Rod Smith. Lets build a list of candidates and send them to the athletic office to make it easy on them this off-season.
  7. I know the SECOND bye week isn't until next week, but the thought of two more weeks without a game is really getting to me. When, if ever, is USF going to be able to put together a 12 game schedule. First I thought it was Leavitt, then I looked at Selmon and now Im back to grinding my teeth thinking Leavitt is to blame. Why can't they pull the trigger on some of the deals? Is it a case of sitting at home watching games waiting for a bigger and better deal? Guess what, Notre Dame is not now nor never will call looking for as home and home series. I doubt its that. It seems like they are waiting for Charleston Southerns schedule open up again, or Florida State to forget that they do not want to sign a series against us. This is one of USF biggest failures. They blow every chance (wait I think we've signed one 12th game) to make more money, increase exposure and get bowl eligible. I doubt they are ignorant, so why can't they get it done? Is it fear of the number 12? No, incompetence! (This picture works for the offense too)
  8. There is only 30 days of practice allowed before the season and now we have 21 days in between games (not to mention the 14 days between UM and Pit). I do not hope they install a new offense, but there is enough time between now and Rutgers to isolate the problems and put in a few new wrinkles. They have got to work with the tools/players they have and customize the offense to make the most of what they have. If they come back with the same old crapfest they have been running then the spotlight of fault is clearly on the coaching staff. One of the best compliments I ever heard about Don Shula was from Bum Phillips. He once said, "He can take his'n and beat your'n, or he can take your'n and beat his'n." I worry because sometimes our coaches seem content with urine.
  9. "Reverse Rod" It's a natural. It's his favorite play, its the gear he has the offense in and finally his play calling usually reverses USF momentum.
  10. Thats a reasonable figure. Thanks for the info ES. Its great to have you near.
  11. I hope not, but I know one thing I will never complain about a kid coming out early again. Take the guaranteed payday.
  12. I like you calling them "wideouts." I was thinking the term "receiver" was way too generous and was thinking of calling them route runners, but "wideouts" isnt bad. Maybe "dropouts" is even better.
  13. Is that the change he spoke of in his immediate post game comments? No way, but its a nice thought.
  14. Thats exactly the impression I got from what I heard of CJL after the game. Its scary to have to have a "FUTURE" Qb that cannot play/learn without possibly costing us another year without a servicable QB.
  15. Good question. Better question: Why did USF recruit a QB that ran the Wing T offense at Miramar and only completed 37 passes his senior year. GENUIS!! They will never see us coming. That was from 2003 and I wonder if he is up to speed yet. We may have ruined him by starting him so early, but I think the problem may be deeper than that: Like the guy speaking about getting him up to speed.
  16. Im a mascocist . . . I will be there with high expectations. You can find me after the game lying in the south parking lots in a pool of my own sweat and tears.
  17. s No? Lets see if we can beat a similar UConn team now and Memphis then and Cincinnati now are similar too. Lets just see about those games. I have a hunch we will be lucky to be close to 2001. I think that we were better then, well lets see because we had a good QB, a play making receiver who caught the ball which gave us the ability to score. Then on the other side USF had 2 future NFL players on defense or plainly siad a better defense. So . . . . . . A.) Why can't you compare them and B.) Whats is possibly better about this team?
  18. The 2005 Big East Bulls or the 2001 Independent Bulls. (You know the ones that won in Pitt Sept. 8, 2001?) I say 2001 and ask why? What went wrong?
  19. Wow all thats specialty teams practice is really paying off. I love the consistancy of the 15 yard (50 yard net) penalty every kickoff. It takes all the pressure off the return man. Starting off at our 8 and 13 yard lines is well worth the added effort.
