  1. it's the same way they determine BCS teams now. 6 conference champs and 4 atlarge. instead of 4 at large there would be 2. if they are any anti-trust issues with a playoff then there are the same issues with the current BCS. LSU or BSU may have a complaint but now instead of teams 3-8 having a complaint it would be teams 9 and higher. not realistic for them to expect a shot at NC if they couldn't win their conference. same arguement team #66 has for basketball/. I believe it was all the Uf fans that said UM didn't deserve a shot because they didn't win their conference. If there is a case where 2 Big 10 teams were tied with 12-0 records I think one would easily qualify for the at large while the other goes because of conference title.
  2. They don't. Every conference receives a cut from the BCS now and they allowed the non-autobid to be easier reached for non auto BCS teams. Thus every team now has access to a BCS bid. This was the result of the antitrust lawsuit that Tulane was going to bring against the BCS. In stead of going to court the BCS included the little conferemce. Last year Boise would not have been in a BCS game because they finished 9th in the BCS standings not in the top 6 which was formerly required. they could do the same thing with an 8 team playoff. 6 BCS conference winners + 2 at large from any of the top 119 as long as they are in the top 9. wouldn't be difficult to get around.
  3. you should have come forward then and ponied up the extra $800,000+ a year for huggins and the money to buy out RMC if you felt this strongly about it. Bill "freaking " Walker will be at KSU for half a season. good luck with that.
  4. The fact that you even brought up race makes no sense... and kinda makes me wonder.  What does high profile have to do with race?  : Anyway... you guys just keep speculating as to the reasons assistants have left or players have not worked out.  It really shows a lot of ignorance to bash someone based on things that you have no clue about. Please enlighten me and anyone else who is not on the McCullum bandwagon, why these losing seasons, loss of players, lack of quality recruits, etc, etc. have nothing to do with the head coach.  Why is McCullum immune from criticism based upon the current condition of USF Basketball. I'm all ears. the current condition is a 4 - 0 record. how is this an indication of a bad team? sportsline has us at a 32 RPI. why is everyone living in the past? get over it. I find it hilarious that people actually don't know anything about college basketball and yet come on here and criticize our team and coaches for the past. There are so called USF fans that actually picked richmond in the contest. Tell me, would you pick a 3-3 team that is a 9.5 point underdog, starts 4 freshmen, is 0 - 3 ATS,  with losses against Marist and Radford at home to beat a team that is 4 - 0 , 2 - 0 ATS, and playing at home??? no wonder vegas has the money to build billion dollar hotels. Ask them if they looked at this objectively if they would make the same picks. you people are living in the past. we are 4 games into THIS season and 4 -0. Can we please enjoy it BEFORE we actually quit on this team as fans??? I know there are plenty including Herm, sportsfan, jewbull etc that would rather be proven correct then have the Bulls have a successful season. Pretty sad if you ask me. 3 more games and we get some reinforcements.
  5. you mean our 4-0 basketball team that has a 34 sportsline rpi rating? they're terrible. yeah you know what your talking about, sure. http://www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/polls/rpi/index1
  6. It was women's bball, and it was Thanksgiving weekend.  I doubt USF beats that. It was actually a men's game and it was against another top 25 program. I bet USF gets that easily. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/boxscore?gid=200611250319
  7. they are distributed to boosters first but they list a number you can call to preorder tickets through LSU in the paper. that was the reason they have sold 32,000. funny they get excited for 6500 to a basketball game when their team is top 10. I bet USF would blow that away if we had a top ten team.
  8. Highly unlikely that ANYONE has the access through a single university to buy that number of tickets to a BCS bowl a year.  Believe me, it was tough getting a ticket to the Sugar Bowl when LSU won the national championship a couple years ago.  Demand heavily exceeded supply.  Between 150 and 250K fans tailgate each week at Tiger Stadium, which only holds 92K people.  There are some serious parties... I think it was more like 1500 and there was a big stink about it the year they went to the sugar bowl. he had some kind of connection through LSU though and had done it for years.
  9. these tickets are available to the general public through LSU. Do you think any brokers are buying??? I guarantee most are brokers. I bet if USF sold rose bowl tickets to the public we could sell 32,000 too. Hell I would buy 100 to resell myself. I remeber the story of the guy from LSU who buys like 10,000 sugar bowl tickets a year through LSU. He resells them and makes like $200,000 a year doing it. They tried to stop him a couple of years ago. http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061129/SPORTS0202/311290013/1001
  10. not true. rbs come in all the time and make an impact right away. maybe not qbs or wrs but rbs do it all the time. tomlinson had 1600 yards from scrimmage and 10 tds his first year. he was the #5 overall pick. IMHO you cannot judge any player accuratley till they have about 3 years in the league.  Players develop and become adjusted to the NFL at different speeds.  Imagine if you judged Tiki Barber, Shaun Alexander, or Larry Johnson by their first year in the league the way people are doing bush.  They would all look pretty foolish.  Lets not forget Johnson being called a baby by his head coach and that he needed to stop wearing the papers or something to that effect.  Also Tiki Barber was considered to be nothing more than a third down back who fumbles too much early in his career (gee that sounds familiar) and now has 6 (counting this year) 1000+ yd seasons to his credit.  How about he give the guy a couple years before we go screaming bust.  Now if you say he didnt live up to the hype that alot of people had for him going into THIS SEASON i would agree but to call him a bust is to say he wont do anything over the rest of his career, which it is WAY to early to make a judgement like that. I never said he was a bust. in fact in a previos post I said that only time will tell. He is overrated though. the guy has more commercials then tiki, lj, and tomlinson combined. If you watch any nfl analyst you may notice how great they make him out to be. just like they do with m vick. I almost have to turn the sound down when the falcons play because they never criticize vick. they only talk about him being such a great talent. there must be a league mandate not to say anything deragatory about him. just like they're not allowed to criticize officiating. by the way tiki was a 2nd rounder not #2 overall and his numbers are better than bush's his rookie year. LJ was 27th overall and played behind a stud in p holmes and alexander was 19th overall and he had 1600 total yards his 2nd year in the league. I was comparing bush to tomlinson because they were drafted similarly. one was #2 overall and the other #5 overall.
  11. he's the 46th ranked rushing rb. he ranks behind 8 other rookies none of which start on their own team.
  12. not true. rbs come in all the time and make an impact right away. maybe not qbs or wrs but rbs do it all the time. tomlinson had 1600 yards from scrimmage and 10 tds his first year. he was the #5 overall pick.
  13. velcro I think Richmond is a home game. they're pretty young. they start 4 freshman. hopefully they get rattled on the road.
  14. you must have forgotten Kansas lost to a bible college. how about cincy losing to wofford? or providence to 1-5 brown? Jackson st beat someone in the BE. it happens all the time. uconn beat quinnipiac by 7. get over it. it was obvious USF had an off night and they were able to grind out a win.
  15. they are pretty young. 4 of top 5 scores are freshman. 5 of top 7 player minutes are too. only loss on the road. we'll be their next road game. should give us an advantage playing a young team on the road for the 2nd time.
  16. Herm, your boy r bush tore it up again yesterday. 45 all purpose yards. he's not even the best rookie on their team. 7th rounder from hofstra is better. he could become the most hyped punt returner in history. do you think j addai is better? how about maroney? I bet he has m vick syndrome. where he doesn't feel he needs to work hard because everybody tells him how great he is already. he'll start blaming his ineptness on everyone around him soon. how did r artest get into college????
  17. Absolutely, but its not hard to tell Reggie is faster than everyone else on the field.   how do you come to that conclusion? Was it his 11 carries for -5 yards against the lowly Bucs? Maybe his 2.8 ypc on the year? Don't believe everything ESPN tells you Herm. Start thinking for yourself. It's all sports propaganda! I bet you think M Vick is a top 3 QB too? Notice how they don't talk about that moronic trade Atlanta made anymore. They gave up a once in a lifetime running back for him. Just because ESPN shoves it down your throat doesn't mean it's true. Tell your buddy Dingleberry that his mighty red storm looked like a joke last night. They were lucky to keep it within 32. On their own home floor too. What's a red storm anyway? That's what I called my old girlfriend's mood about once a month!! ok 94 lets give you a little schooling on sports outside of the usf world.  The red storm is the name of st johns because they were forced to change it from the redmen, which stood for the original group of indians which saw new york city as a great port andplace for habitation.  Then the liberal media made them change a few years ago but who would expect you to know that.  stick to the bucaneers and your fellow bangwagon fans.  by the way where are all the bucs car magnets this year? pathetic fan base.  joke vs maryland yes, but maryland is going to be sick this year,m hope you are planning on getting your tix to the acc tourny in tampa in a few months, i know i have. Did you see the red storm play ranked texas, they got comletely screwed and lost by 1 but im sure you werent watching but would comment about how they lost.  Its funny you put down a team who produced players like chris mullin, mark jackson, ron artest, malik sealy (rip) and many others but if you asked a st johns fan what they thought about usf bball (and st johns is no good now due to probation the last few years, despise what trip and the BRAND NEW big east crew would say) they would still say WHO????  So lets earn some respect in the big east before putting down the johnnies.  94 since you know me so well and tell me to think for myself, i am the 1st to say mike vick is overrated but when i see game i see game. Reggie bush will be a star in the nfl, so you can join the team and go against anything smazza says but on this one and most others he is so right.  Bush will be ridiculous in the nfl for years to come.  Watcha game, im sure you havent watched one saints game besides the one against the garbage bucs, but sometimes #;s arent what they seem.  talk about propaganda.  Bush is like bo jackson in techmo bowl he doesnt run on the field he glides past everyone, give him time, i promise you that you will eat your words.  not a big bucs fan herm. look at r bush's ypc on the year. he finally cracked 3.0. maybe if he didn't have more fumbles than rushing td's I'd believe you know what you are talking about. the guy is all hype. he played on a a dominant team in college where every player on that team was far superior to their opponents. it probably didn't hurt him to have the kind of line he had or to have a heisman qb in the backfield with him or even another first round rb on his team. or stud receivers to open up the run. get a clue. we're they the same indians that sold manhattan for $24 worth of shiny gems? brilliant. nobody was forced. notice how most other teams didn't cave to the politically correct ncaa. funny if they were the Florida State red storm. nice to know you can see into the future. r bush may become a great talent. so far he's proven to be mediocre. he averages 30 yards rushing per game. 3.0 per carry. he has 4 fumbles on the year and 1 td. they say he can't run between the tackles and doesn't have the discipline to follow his blocks. only time will tell how great he'll be. dude, name one st john's player that didn't play in the 80's. quit living in the past. I only brought up st johns because you put them in with the likes of syracuse, uconn, and georgetown in a previous post. they obviously don't belong anywhere near that convesation. louie c is gone. get over it.
  18. I think the BE likes to schedule the projected top teams to play against each other late in the season. It worked out well this year with all of the undefeateds getting national attention. If we are top 4 then I expect us to play bottom 4 early in the season. WVU, UL and Rutgers late.
  19. no vision? hasn't developed his talent yet? doesn't break tackles? are you kidding? The kid is leading the NCAA in rushing. He averages nearly 8 yards per carry. The only one close to that is his own QB! He doesn't have to break tackles when he is 5 yards ahead of anyone chasing him. Our achilles is stopping the run. It will take a near perfect game to keep this game close.
  20. maybe we take ainge's 1-6 passing for 3 yards in the first quarter against LSU and project those for a full game ? 4-24 for 12 yards
  21. just letting you know what the numbers say rt. no need for insults. ainge played the entire first quarter against lsu. let's divide those numbers by 9.25. takes him out of the top 10 for both. why don't we throw out everybody's toughest 2 opponents and then recalculate? if anything this helped ainge greatly. much easier to put up gawdy numbers against the likes of kentucky and marshall than LSU or Ark.
  22. certainly better than Tenn did vs. air force or the #2 team in the SEC east did vs. (2-8)Lousianna-Monroe this week.
  23. Tennessee's trio of Robert Meachem, Jayson Swain, and Bret Smith would disagree...   UT had a top 10, maybe even top 5 passing offense before Ainge got hurt.  actually ainge ranked 22nd total offense in the country and 20th for passing per game. I guess he'd be considered top 5 in the country like LSU?? The team that needed OT to beat Ole Miss at home. How they still get all this respect is beyond me. Just another example of the mediocre SEC. At least UF got another quality OOC win at home! By the way Kentucky's qb ranks higher than ainge in both categories. huh?  http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/natlRank.jsp?year=2006&div=4&rpt=IA_teampass&site=org UT is #12 passing offense, that is with a backup RS Freshman playing almost all of the game against LSU and the whole game against Arkansas now look at individual stats of ainge. you stated that Tenn was top 10 or top 5 with ainge. I simply pointed out this wasn't true. ainge is #22 total offense per game and #20 passing. maybe your passing offense is better with the freshman? http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/natlRank.jsp?year=2006&div=4&rpt=IA_playertotoff&site=org http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/natlRank.jsp?year=2006&div=4&rpt=IA_playerpass&site=org
