  1. Beat UCF and go to a bowl game. Anything above 7 wins this year assuming McCloud is the starter is a solid step forward.

Firing the head coach is a step backwards. Firing the offensive coordinator is a step backwards. Working through the issues is the best path forward.

USF is fortunate to have two winning head coaches on it's staff. We need to be patient.

  2. Academically I agree with you about leading with the crown. And I understand that slow motion video provides a tremendous opportunity to slow things down and analyze  But it must be looked at in context of what both players are doing in the moment.  The hit with Macon and the QB is something that happens on a lot of  plays when a running back is running the ball.  It's just not analyzed as much.

  3. I understand the need to protect players but I think that call was functionally incorrect.  The QB crouched and ducked his head.  I find it pretty much impossible for Macon to not have made contact with the QB helmet considering how the QB changed the position of his body.  I think USF should appeal the suspension.

  4. A word of caution to those Bullspenners who are wanting to fire Charlie Strong.

Firing coaches don’t always yield the results people are expecting.  For example Kansas.  Since firing Mark Mangino, Kansas went on to win only 16 games in 9 seasons   Similarly Texas Tech since firing Mike Leach has only had 4 winning seasons in the last 9 years.

Changing the mentality of a team, install a new offense and defense takes time.  There is no magic pixie dust.   Also there is no "lot" of money ready to be dished out to continually fire and hire head coaches. Chances are the next head coach will come with a higher sticker price than the last and we will still need to pay the former.

USF does not have the money via the alumni base nor the conference media contract when compared to the two Big 12 schools that I mentioned.  But if money is there..  how about you put a some money to the indoor practice facility.  Chances are the next head coach will be advocating for that as well.  But if the money is not there...  how about you continue to cheer on these young men who are playing for their pleasure and for our entertainment.

    Go Buls

  5. It was stated by some reporter or blogger  that Charlie Strong has not done well against teams with winning records.  Looking over his head coaching history that is most apparent.  His best season as a HC was at Louisville in 2013.  The strength of schedule, SOS, of that team was 110 of 125.  On the flip side the toughest SOS his teams has faced was at Texas in 2014 which had a SOS of 5.29, 16 of 128.  That was his first year at Texas and that team finished 6-6 in the regular season and lost their bowl game to finish 6-7.
