  1. Under Scott, USF has not and does not have an identity.  Under Leavitt it was a defensive oriented team that offensively wanted to run the ball. Under Taggart it was an offensive oriented team that would out score the opponent, with the exception when Tom Allen was defensive coordinator.   Even Holtz and Strong teams had identities, offensive and defensive respectively.  One can also see the quantitative results by the number of players drafted and game metrics during each coaches tenure.  Leavitt had many defensive players draft, Taggart more offensive players.

But under Scott I don't see a strong offensive identity nor a defensive identity. On offense does USF want to run the ball by getting the fast guy in space like Taggart? On defense does USF want to take away the run and rely on 1:1 coverage? Over the last few years I can not tell what identity Scott is going for other than good culture and good recruits.  Those two things a great assets but they will not win games alone.

I was hoping Leavitt would come back for sentimental reasons, but also like the Scott hire. He was #2 behind Leavitt. Honestly though nobody knows how Leavitt 2.0 would have turned out. All these coaching hires are a gamble.

Would love Leavitt as a Defensive Coordinator. He's done great at every stop. Even made Colorado relevant for a year.

  3. One of the major issues over the last two years has been the offensive line play.   Just realized the line was been so bad that Blake Barnett never played against UCF. Both years he was injured going into the UCF game.   In fact McCloud hobbled into the game and the top two running back did not play.

It so time to do some "questionably creative recruiting" on the offensive line.

  4. He is not getting fired.  He will finish out his contract.  Kerwin Bell needs another year to get his offense together.

    oh wait...

I just looked at USF's 2020 Football schedule.  Getting to a bowl game will be very tough next year.  If USF does not go to a bowl game next Charlie Strong will be fired once the team is no longer bowl eligible. With that said  USF will need to do some "Questionably creative recruiting" to get the talent needed to be successful next year.  This "Blue Chips"....

I'm with you.  I was at the game and saw a team that wanted to win and the effort was there.  Apparently, not the regular kicker kicking.  They hold onto one of those almost interceptions and we're talking about a win today.  McCloud made some throws, but he is a redshirt freshman and isn't going to be perfect.  Offensive line did their job.  I can't really complain today.

Keep in mind that was an offensive line without Jennings and some people were moved around. Also it was a defense without Macon. They did a great job.

I truly feel bad for the kicker. He has put himself on the line since game #1. He will eventually have his shining moment
