  1. If he transferred now, he would not be able to play until 2006. Hopefully, Denson will be entrenched as the started by then and either Hill or Grothe will be on their way to stardom (or both). I would prefer to use the scholarship on a freshman recruit at any position. You never know who the next Reed or Henry is going to be. 8)
  2. I hope we are able to land some solid DTs next year. Here is an early list. Does anyone have any information about these guys or any additons? Mike Blanc - 6-4/265/4.9 Deerfield Beach, FL Kevin Bryant - 6-6/372/5.87 Hallandale, FL Ken Chastaine - 6-3/330/5.3 Lake Worth, FL Sedric Coney - 6-1/285/5.2 Miami, FL Kevin Cooper - 6-1/270/- Tampa, FL Kenrick Ellis - 6-5/318/5 Lake Worth, FL Jarrett Fisher - 6-2/270/- Clearwater, FL Corey Hobbs - 6-3/310/5.2 Oviedo, FL Brian Lobello - 6-0/300/5.5 Coral Springs, FL Don Mosely - 6-1/293/5.55 Tampa, FL Reggie Odom - 6-2/290/5 Deland, FL Leslie Stirrups - 6-2/274/5.16 Tampa, FL Vernard West - 6-4/280/5.1 Gainesville , FL Has anyone seen Bryant or Chastaine play? 8)
  3. Knight_Dive, The article says: I will break this down for you. 1) Can we agree that USF will play the Irish (according to the article)?  ??? Now the second part: 2) Can we agree (according to the article) the Irish will have three Big East teams on their schedule every year.  ??? Now for the complicated part.  3) Can we agree the three teams the Irish are playing on any given year will be on a "home and home basis" (according to the article)?  ??? ND may play a few games in $hitrus bowl, no one is arguing that point.  All I am saying is the Irish are going to play three BE teams per year on a 'home and home basis" and they will play all eight BE teams. 8)
  4. I am not sure they were ever behind us.  We have beaten them twice, but their program has been around longer, they have always had more funding and they were guaranteed a slot in the Big East before us.  Utah beat Texas A&M last year, but Utah’s "program" is not ahead of Texas A&M's. 8)
  5. The article says: Why is that so difficult for you to comprehend?  ??? What part of "home-and-home" baisis do you not understand?  Notre Dame wants the status quo.  They are going do do everything in their power to stay independent in football and have a solid conference for the rest of their teams to play in.  However, it is possible the Big East will split or the college football landscape (BCS) will be completely different.  If the Big East splits, I don't think their will be any effect on the contract.  There could be some unforeseen circumstances that arise which could void the contract. Stop the presses!  KNIGHTTIME has breaking news.  ND has been refusing the Big 10 since it was created.  ND will do everything in their power to avoid joining a conference in football.  Joining the Big 10 is the "nuclear option"!  As a matter of fact, they would rather play all eight Big East teams on a home-and-home basis than join the Big Ten.  Why would the Notre Dame faithful play in the $hitrus bowl when they can play at Raymond James?  They will have the home field advantage either way.  I am willing to bet if USF played ND at Ray Jay in 2012, over half the stadium would be ND fans.  Another question: What part of this statement do you not understand? Only ONE Big East team will be playing at a "neutral" site. Thank you Knight_Light. Congrats on the stadium. 8) By the way, what is the over/under for how long this thread will last before it is moved to the "UCF/USF pissing contest" board?
  6. 1) Why was my attendance prediction thread moved to a board I can't access? 2) Why can't I access the USF/UCF board? 3) Who can access the USF/UCF board? 8)
  7. This topic has been moved to [link=http://www.thebullspen.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=04012005;action=display;num=1116875071;start=0]South Florida - UCF Unmoderated[/link] by Bulliever.
  8. I was concerned he was going to play for a school we would compete against. I would not have enjoyed watching him run for a TD in Ray Jay wearing a different jersey. I think the message recruits would take from Schaeffer transferring here would be to choose USF in the first place or you will waste two years of your life. Schaeffer also could have told future recruits UT is not all its cracked up to be. 8)
  9. That sounds like a great idea until Hall blows an ACL, ruins his NFL chances and leaves us with an empty backfield. JL needs to do whatever he thinks is going to give us the best chance to win in the fall.  When we start going to bowl games regularly, we won't have to worry about spring game attendance. Everything else sounds good. 8)
  10. I think the hiring will be great for Pitt and the Big East, but may be bad for USF. Dave Wannstedt is a great defensive minded coach. Everywhere he has gone, his defenses have been solid. The Dolphin's defense has been solid even this year with no help from the offense, a great DE leaving and multiple injuries including to their two starting DTs. His style of defense depends on having two giant tackles occupying lineman so his LBs can run free. One of his problems, in my opinion, is the salary cap in the NFL. Something like 70% of the cap went to the defense. In college, Dave can recruit whomever he wants. The problem I see from USF's standpoint is that Dave will be able to get into the home of every South Florida recruit. He also has great name recognition in the rest of the State and the fact that he has been preparing players to compete in the NFL for however many years will make it an ideal situation for a blue chip player. Dave also has ties to Texas from when he was DC for the Cowboys. Hopefully, those recruits/parents will remember him more for the "Glory Years" than for his last season with the Dolphins. Don't forget that Pete Carroll was a poor NFL coach before becoming one of the best in college football. Also, don't forget that he too was a defensive coordinator in the NFL before becoming a head coach. Dave attended Pitt and already knows his way around. If he does do well, he could be there for a long time. Also, coaching for his Alma Matter may make him just a little more determined to do well. I think he withdrew his name so he could see if there would be any head coaching offers in the NFL. 8)
  11. We were 1-15 last year. 2-14 would be an improvement. I expect 4-12. Anything above that would be great. 8)
  12. We will either have PJ or a 1st-year quarterback next year. We will have three new starters on the O-Line including the center, who makes all the line calls. Miami is still Miami, they will be at home and I guarantee we will end up with ACC refs. Miami is probably 105-6 over the last 20 years in the Orange Bowl. It would take an act of God for us to win. Getting whipped on national television is nothing to be proud of. We are a BCS team next year and we need to start acting like it. How many BCS teams play money games? I can't think of a single one. You can't expect to be treated like a lady when you're getting paid for it. We have to play plenty of "real" teams. We play a full Big East schedule and with any luck, we will be playing a bowl game on national television. Penn State will return 16 starters. If we really want to play a "real" team, then we need to win the Big East and play in a BCS bowl. In my opinion, USF needs to get to a bowl game as fast as possible. Playing a lower tier I-A team with a return trip the following year increases our chances of getting to a bowl game both years. Playing Miami gives us one loss and we will be back in the same scheduling predicament the following year. How many BCS teams have never been to a bowl? The only reason we should play Miami is if we absolutely have to from a financial perspective. If that is the case, then we have no choice.
  13. If we are going to play a I-AA team, I am glad it is FAMU.  If we do play Miami, I hope we parlay that into a 2-1.  If we don't get a 2-1, then I would rather play at Kent State, Eastern Michigan or any other I-A team with a return trip to Tampa next year.  We need I-A home games. 8)
  14. Kenyatta should contact the Dolphins. I went to the Washington-Miami preseason game and he played very well. Miami's offensive line is awful. 8)
  15. When Leavitt became an assistant at Kansas State, their defense was ranked 105th in the nation and they were voted the "worst program in the country". In his final year as defensive coordinator, their defense was 1st in the country. That year, they had over ten players in their two-deep on defense alone that were from Florida. USF needs a quarterback who can throw and receivers that can catch. 8)
  16. Raise the price of the tickets for the big games and have them in the sun dome. There is more than one way to skin a cat. 8)
  17. 1. You’ve just won $10 million in the lottery – what now? Take care of my family financially. Buy an island in the keys. Buy a 55-foot Viking sport fisher, 36-foot Contender center console, 21-foot Hewes flats boat, a ski boat and a pair of Yamaha wave runners. Invest in a modeling agency in South Beach with a stipulation that I must approve all of the talent. Donate whatever I did not need to survive in a trust fund with the purpose of building a stadium for USF. 2. You’ve just become USF’s president – what is your first action in office? Initiate a plan to build a stadium. 3. You’ve discovered time travel – what famous person of the past would you like meet? Gengis Khan. 4. You’re headed to THE CHAIR – what’s your last meal? Three pounds of C-4. 5. You’re USF’s head football coach, and you’re calling the plays. The offense has a 1st down on it’s own 40-yard line. What play do you call? Middle screen to Peyton. 8)
