  1. Bullman - the Cowboys play at Washington on Monday 9/27.
  2. Um, I think I'll be at the game. 8) You might be able to find a Southwest flight from Baton Rouge to Dallas if no one is able to drive you out here. Bullman, the NFL schedules come out this afternoon, so we'll find out if the Cowboys are in town on the 26th. If you're interested and if the NHL season isn't delayed, the Stars may also be holding a preseason game that weekend.
  3. They're just saying the games against us and Southern Miss should be easier for TCU to handle because they're at home. (Not counting the Boise State game, TCU hasn't lost at home since 2001.) I don't think it's a slight against USF. And considering how Boise and Houston strafed the Frogs in the air last season, I bet they get their doors blown off in Lubbock.
  4. I wouldn't be surprised if athletes go ahead and father kids because they believe they'll end up in the NFL (or NBA or wherever) and will have no problem supporting them. Then they have to scramble when, like DeJuan Green will find out, they don't make it to the show. I don't think we should try and ingrain some morality into athletes... just some simple economics.
  5. Another guy from the Dallas/Fort Worth area - Weatherford is about 30 minutes west of here. Does someone on the staff have ties to this area?
  6. Next year they'll go to the "pod" system in the women's tournament, with first- and second-round games at neutral sites. Don't forget Houston was the #3 seed and lost in the second round to UC-Santa Barbara, which was the #11 seed but somehow got to play on their home court. The reason they held games on campus sites is because the attendance was just so bad at neutral sites. If it stays that way, they'll go back to campus sites, but hopefully they'll let the top seeds free up space to host them.
  7. They freaking stole that game. I got all excited just watching the highlights on the Internet. ;D
  8. I thought it was hilarious, and it had nothing to do with the fact that I have him on both of my fantasy teams and moved on in the playoffs because of him. The NFL will probably fine him, but they've never suspended a player for a celebration. And Horn isn't like Terrell Owens, blowing his teammates or his coaches up in the media, or getting arrested, or whatever.
  9. Yeah, I remember that game. Wasn't that the one where Priest Lauderdale completely posterized Tron on a reverse dunk? (Well, if CBA players got posters, that is.)
  10. Michael Farber of Sports Illustrated has been calling this the "Dead Puck Era" for a couple of years now. Teams don't score nearly as many goals because expansion has spread the talent pool out too widely, and because goalies are now allowed to dress up like the Michelin Man, literally obscuring most of the net. Don't even get me started on the neutral-zone trap. It's like the option in football -- it's boring as hell to watch, it destroys the flow of the game, but teams use it because it works. Jacques Lemaire is the hockey Satan.
  11. Gregg Easterbrook got off a pretty surprising (and in my opinion, based on the fact that I've read his work for several years, totally accidental) anti-Semitic take when he was ripping "Kill Bill" for The New Republic. "Kill Bill" is a Miramax movie, which is owned by Disney, which owns ESPN, which runs ESPN.com... http://www.tnr.com/easterbrook.mhtml?pid=868
  12. They looked horrible today. I'd like to think it was just a hiccup, but with the injuries on defense and the commissioner getting Sapp off his game, I don't think it is. I'm not looking forward to this week in DFW, with every Cowboys fan I know telling me that they're going to Tampa to deliver a kill shot to the defending champs.
  13. Um, at least you can use those tickets for Game 3 of the New Jersey series. LIGHTNING WIN! CAPS BLOW IT AGAIN!!
