  1. The problem is that Pryor got visibility here. So, going to a bigger school would not necessarily give him more visibility. He got the attention after the Memphis game and scouts started paying attention. If staying here would have given him more playing time, then the visibility would be greater here as well because of the opportunity to see more of him.
  2. I like his game. And perhaps the possibility of his coming may be why we can lose CY and Miguel. I would love to see him here, which I think it is a good possibility with his dad being here. Last year someone made the comment about how bad we are if our coach can't get his son to play for us. I responded that we were loaded at the guard position and it would probably be better to go play somewhere else to get the playing time and transfer later. On another note, I am still holding out hope that Malique Ewin returns to us. Wouldn't that be something?
  3. The reason I say maybe better are as follows: 1. Except for ball handling skills, which I have not had the opportunity to see, Reynolds is a better skilled player than Pryor. He is bigger, a better leaper, quicker, and has better footwork than Pryor, especially in the post. He looks to also have a better touch and can shoot with either hand in the post with accuracy. And although it is only a small sample (5-11), he may be a better shooter from deep as well. I would bet money any day that anyone who can go out on the court and hit 5-11 3s is a good 3-pt shooter. 2. As for replacing Miguel, my eyes tell me that Jennings is a quicker version of everything Miguel brought to the table. 3. CY was as good as they come to being a pure shooter. While I think Brown is not as good in that category, he is a more dynamic and quicker player who I think is better than CY at finishing around the rim. So, maybe when CY, Miguel, and Pryor sat down with CAAR and they talked about making the difficult decision to stay or get more money, he probably told them that he would hate to see them leave but that he supports their desire to take care of their families. And he probably finished it off by saying "don't worry, we got it covered." I'll tell you what, next year may be the year to worry, with Brown and Reid entering the portal.
  4. Perhaps the KSU guys in Jennings and Stroud.
  5. Jennings shot 38% from deep each of his last 2 seasons at KSU. He also shot 74% and 79% from FT. Assuming we do not lose any more players, it will not be a rebuilding year; it's will be reloading year. For me, I see Brown, Jennings, and Reynolds as adequate replacements, if not better, for CY, Pryor, and Miguel.
  6. Reid did it. Is he the only freshman in the country that could do it? Also, Kasen Jennings returns from his injury. He is not a freshman, and he is really, really good.
  7. I think you are stereotyping here. And wasn't Hines an all-academic? And if they all earn their degrees, why will they not have much to fall back on?
  8. I agree with most of what you said, except for it being a crappy conference and luck. Many analysts talked about how good the conference was and I agree. Memphis got to 10th by beating a lot of power 5 schools. Other teams in our conference had quite a few wins against power 5 schools and schools with higher net rankings. For example, we beat schools in our conference with higher net rankings. We also beat FSU, UCF, and Loyola, who I believe had a higher net ranking. FAU also beat Loyola and 3 power 5 schools. UAB beat Maryland. SMU beat West Virginia and FSU. North Texas beat LSU, and Tulane beat Cal. And we beat up on each other.
  9. And on the positive side, I still think we have some good players with the ones remaining. For guards, we have Knox, Brown, Reid, and Jennings, which I think will be just as good as this year. And we still have Walker and Stroud. I think the Reynolds get is huge. I am surprised he has not been playing more minutes at his other stops. I like his shooting percentages. For his career, he is 67% at FT, 55% FG, and 5-11 from deep. He has not shot from deep much, but it looks like he can hit them. He may produce better than Pryor did. And I will take CAAR at his word when it comes to developing players. So, we may see a much improved Tobiloba. So, I would be happy with a Knox, Reid/Jennings, Brown, Stroud, and Reynolds/Walker lineup. That group would be just as good as any 5 we put on the court this year. And who knows whom we could get from the portal. I think we are in good shape.
  10. Transfer rules do not allow players to talk to schools prior to entering the portal. So, I believe they need to enter the portal for coaches from other schools to speak with them.
  11. Anyone knows if USF could counter with a better NIL offer?
  12. I think his entering the portal has more to do with his coach leaving for Arkansas; and that it means that he will probably follow him there.
  13. Per transfer rules, any of our players that entered the portal can rescind their transfer and return to our squad. There would need to be mutual agreement. Therefore, it is possible that the school and the player discussed and agreed that the player could enter the portal to see what offers he got. If he is not happy with the offers, he would return. If the school has had such an agreement with any of our players, it is possible that some may return. Just saying.
  14. 72% of his FGs were from deep. Looks good, but his 2FG% was low last year and for his career.
  15. Like I said, Jennings is a stud, and so is CJ Brown. CAAR also said Jennings is a stud. I think that we are set with the current guard group; any additional help would be icing on the cake. As for Reid getting 30+ minutes per game, I would not count on it, merely for the fact that, if you look at CAARs recent seasons, his players get at the most 20+ minutes. CY topped our team with 30, as he did the last 2 seasons at KSU, with 31 per each season.
  16. Not sure he will get much more because Kasen Jennings returns and he is pretty good as well.
  17. Makes you wonder if CAAR is leaving since CY followed him here. Is Pryor next?
  18. He was off the bench 5 minutes after the game started. I don't understand how not starting was the issue. If you play 35 minutes per game, it does not matter if you start or come off the bench. I could buy him wanting to play 35 minutes per game rather than the 28.5 he averaged. Perhaps CAAR told him that he would need to change his style of play for his final year. I noticed something with Miguel that was different than everyone else on the team. While others passed the ball if they did not have an open shot, Miguel frequently did a lot of dribbling and opted not to pass to open players, opting instead to take up as much as 10 seconds trying to find a shot for himself.
  19. Speaking of who decided Miguel's fate, if both coach and player love each other to death, and player got lots of playing time, why did player leave?
  20. CAAR believes in developing players. He has said it many times. There is no doubt that he has plans to develop DT into the player he wants him to be. Obviously, this is probably the reason he started early.
  21. Where have you been? This happened 2 weeks and was already discussed at length.
  22. I agree, but that does not appear to be CAAR's system.
