  1. I think Dave was the first person to mention how good he is. And I think he will make fans forget CY. Williams' ability to score in the paint exceeds CYs.
  2. And that is difference between other people and me. I don't care what others want or do. I do my own evaluation, as CAAR suggests coaches do.
  3. I know that some of you will say, there goes Pancho again with his crazy talk. But I am going to say it anyway. I am happier with Jimmie Williams than with Karter Knox. All the highlights that I have seen of Karter show an athletic freak. Not that he does not have elite skill, but the videos don't highlight his skills. They show him leaping high to block shots and dunk. In Jimmie Williams' highlights, I see skill. I can see he has elite quickness, elite quickness that helps him create his shots, elite ball-handling, and an elite repertoire of moves to score. I don't see any of that in Knox's videos. So, I decided to compare stats and the following is what I found: Some have posted Williams' stats before, but I post again to compare to Knox's. FG%: Williams = 54%, Knox = 44% 2FG%: Williams = 61%, Knox = 53% 3P%: Williams = 37%, Knox = 34% FT%: Williams = 74%, Knox = 63% So, in all of those offensive categories, Williams exceeds Knox by a good margin. Here is the link for Knox's stats: Karter Knox | OTE OVERTIMEELITE.COM Karter Knox is a 6'6” forward from Riverview, Florida. He currently plays for the RWE.
  4. I understand what you are saying. I remember being excited about watching Bo Zeigler's highlights. But after he started playing here, I realized he couldn't shoot at all. And that's why I now compare highlights to their stats. For example, I was not excited by Chaplin and Caleb Murphy. Both could jump through the roof and were extremely quick, but they were lousy shooters. I know what Jennings brings from history. I saw Williams' stats before I saw any highlights. I questioned whether he had the skills to duplicate it at this level. All I needed to see was the first play from the highlight that Dave posted to say, oh yeah, this guy has it. And again, 61% 2FG%!!! That is unheard of for a guard, even at that level. As for CJ Brown, the highlights are amazing but I have difficulty finding stats. I think I found something months ago that showed his 3pt% around 25%; but I can't seem to find it now. I saw an interview with him recently where he said that his shooting it the part of his game that he continues to work on and wants to improve. But he is extremely quick and can get by guys to get to the rim to score; so, I like that.
  5. Did you see Jimmie Williams' highlights? He is quicker than Miguel. So is CJ Brown. Reynolds can also hit the 3; his career % is better than Pryor's, albeit a smaller sample size. Jennings is also quick with a high 3pt%. I am not concerned with this roster. Also, we were largely dependent on outside shooting last year. I think we have much better inside scoring this year.
  6. Maybe he likes to travel internationally. If so, what better way to do it for free?
  7. @CousinRicky, does CJF know about this girl? I think you are tight with him, no? Send him text or something. Her game looks really impressive to me. And I was doing some more research on her and saw that she was not only the number 1 prospect out of Canada her senior year, but she was the No. 15 prospect in all of North America. So how does someone this good end up at Maine? Could it be she wanted to stay close to home? Perhaps she wanted to stay close to her brother, who is on the men's team and played against us in our loss to Maine. Nevertheless, If we can get Amy Thompson to play for us, why not go after this player?
  8. It will be interesting to see what starting lineup CJF will go with to start the season. Based on the current roster, I imagine Sammie and Mama will be in the lineup. I also think Mputu will be starting at center. That leaves 2 spots for 3 of last year's starters in Blasigh, Levy, and Brito. If it were my decision, I would probably go with Levy and Tomasicka, who is listed as a forward, interestingly. But I think we will see Brito starting again. We will probably see a lot of minutes from many players because we will have a strong bench. Imagine bringing Blasigh and Thompson off the bench. We would not skip a beat or lose any talent with replacements at guard for at forward with Piper, Tomasicka, or Karamfilova. The only question mark when it comes to who comes off the bench would be at center. Mputu looks to be the only solid center at the moment. I also wonder what role Aarnio is going to have. Regardless, I see a team that will be running it up the court and letting 3s fly like there is no tomorrow. Last year's squad ran it up the floor but couldn't score to save themselves. Not so this year.
  9. I was looking through the offers Jimmie Williams received, and I can't believe he got none from a Power 5 or Big East school. Not even from any other top program like Gonzaga. Most impressive stat: 2FG% = 61%. Don't underestimate that stat!
  10. I like this 6'5" Russian as well. 60% FG% and 65% FT. I like that! Iullia Grabovskaia - Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders Center - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM View the profile of Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders Center Iullia Grabovskaia on ESPN. Get the latest news, live stats and game highlights.
  11. I don't know about you guys, but I think a Brown, Williams, Jennings, and Reynolds group will be better than the Youngblood, Placer, Selton, and Pryor group that we just lost. The following lineup is what we often saw starting last year compared to what it could look like this year: Placer vs Jennings Youngblood vs Williams Knox vs Knox Stroud vs Stroud Pryor vs Reynolds In comparing the bench: Reid vs Reid Walker vs Walker Hines vs Green Miguel vs Brown Both scenarios or any combination of both are an upgrade in my opinion.
  12. Since I am guessing we need a solid big to go with Mputu, and that any more players added to the roster would probably be international players, I was wondering how many international bigs are still in the portal. One is 6'3" Canadian Milena Nenadic. She played at Maine and has 2 years left. Didn't see the floor much, which is surprising because tape on her from a few years ago looks very impressive. And I mean really, really impressive. And this clip in a Canadian all star game from 2 years ago. Probably a recruitment tape on your you tube channel. She looks a lot better than Caitlin Weimer from Boston U, who averaged 19, 10, and 3 blocks and is also not international.
  13. I was wondering how our new commit, Jennifer Silva, at 6'4", could only shoot 44% from the floor. I couldn't imagine that she was going up against many players taller than her. There were games where her FG% was really bad, 3-13 or 4-19. What gives? And how is it that she can hit 10-27 from deep, but barely shoot any better from the FT line? Well, I found my answers in watching one of her games from last year. She supposedly scored 14 points in that game going 6-11 from the floor, including 1-2 from deep and 1-4 from the FT line. However, I only saw her score 8 points, although the video was not quite the best. Now my take on her game. First the positives on offense. At 6'4", she is big-bodied, especially from the waist down. She has good movement on the perimeter, especially for her size. She showed quickness to set screens and rotate. She has decent passing. She looked like a natural 3-pt shooter on the 3 that she hit. And that was the surprising part to her offense, because that was the best looking shot that she took. Seems to be capable of knocking down an outside shot. Now for the negatives on offense. I know some of you remember former USF QB Pat Julmiste. I think he had one of the strongest arms of any QB that ever played the game. What had me yelling at my TV was that he lacked touch on his passes. He would either miss wide-open receivers that were 6 yards out, or he would throw 100 mph fast balls at them from the same distance that it was impossible for them to catch. Well, Silva's shots reminded me of Julmiste's throwing. Except for the 3 that she made. All other shots looked like she was trying to shoot as hard as she could, even the few she hit on the perimeter. Being the tallest player and one of the heaviest on the court, she seemed to not display any good lateral movement or good body positioning to get good shots. She was pushed out of position frequently by smaller defenders. I saw 3 of her shots blocked down low by smaller players. I also saw her toss (thrown hard without any touch) and miss 2 shots down low. One bounced off the backboard and hit the rim; the other ricocheted off the backboard and missed the rim completely. Now for positives on defense. I didn't see any. Not that she did not have any; just that I don't recall any player trying to score against her. So, it was difficult to gauge how good of a defender she is in the post. For negatives on defense. For someone her size, who showed that she has quick lateral movement on offense on the perimeter, she did not show any lateral movement in going for rebounds or in trying to move in position to try to stop a player driving to the basket. It seems as if the rebound required her having to take a step, she made no attempt to get it. Is it because she tires easily and is trying to conserve energy for offense? Maybe Silva just started playing basketball, but if she does not develop, I think she will struggle to see the court at USF. For someone her size, she could be dominant in the post. But based on this one game sample, smaller players dominated her. Hopefully, we can develop this part of her game.
  14. I just found an article that they sold to a private equity firm in 2020 and then merged in 2022 with Synnex, with the new company name being a combo of the two, TD Synnex.
  15. Oops, meant to write TD Synnex, Jabil, Mosaic, and Raymond James.
  16. TD (Tech Data) Synnex, Jabil, Mosaic, and Jabil are the top 4.
  17. I think it is safe to say that, with the current roster, if all remain healthy, we will find ourselves back in the top 25 next year. There are some shooters and playmakers on this squad. And those coming off the bench will be just as good as the starters. Barring many injuries, there should be no excuse for this team not returning to the the NCAA tournament next year.
  18. Exactly. According to her stats on the school's website, she shot 16-41 from the line. Also, as a side note, I think USF needs to correct the spelling of her first name. They have it as Jeniffer, while her other school and various sites have it as Jennifer.
  19. Two new players on the roster. A 6'4" Juco transfer from Brazil, Jennifer Silva and a 5'11" guard from Latvia, Raina Tomasicka. From an offensive standpoint, l don't what to feel about Silva. She shot 37% from deep. Whohoo! But then shot only 39% from the FT line. Hope that improves! Raina looks like an awesome pickup. With Thompson and Tomasicka, Bulls may have one of the best guard combos in the country for years to come.
  20. This NIL crap can't last forever. I think it is going to ruin interest in college sports.
  21. According to these guys, Johnell Davis is asking for more money than any than any school wants to pay. They report that Michigan has offered more than any other player and more than any other school but he wants more.
  22. Miami, UF, and FSU are much older institutions with a history of wealthy alumni. When I was at USF, the nickname was University of Sun and Fun. So wealthy parents in Florida sent their kids to one of the big 3. Hah, no billionaires around USF, unless you want to raise Steinbrenner from the dead.
