  1. Ex-Bull Brooks Larkin has no regrets about inflammatory statement

Twenty-four hours after creating a local firestorm by calling his position coach a "liar" and "coward" in a lengthy Twitter statement, former Bulls OL Brooks Larkin said he "absolutely" would do it again.

"I knew it would get around and I knew some people are gonna benefit from this," Larkin said Saturday afternoon in a lengthy phone interview. "I think while this could come back to bite me in a professional setting, I can honestly say I did everything I could the right way, and was honest about everything."

  2. USF softball avenges 9-1 defeat Friday, wins two out of three against Houston

"was a tale of two halves for USF over the weekend.

The Bulls dropped their first game against Houston 9-1 on Friday and were trailing the second by two runs in the sixth inning. The Bulls, however, fought back to win their second game 3-2 after a three-run sixth inning. USF then won it’s game Sunday 7-4, taking  two games out of three against Houston at USF Softball Stadium."

  3. This week the Bulls will have a mid-week match up against a tough Stetson team, followed by a weekend series against AAC foe, ECU.

Stetson Dropped the Bulls in their earlier match up by a score of 5-3. They are set to go on Tuesday

ECU will come in this weekend ranked in the top ten in most polls. They are current second in the conference and have won 6 of their last 8.

Tough week up ahead, I love the Bulls but we are definitely the underdog here. Really need to pull an upset this weekend. Finding a way to be .500 this week would be an achievement as well.

  4. To say Devin Leacock won a state championship and broke a record along the way doesn’t do him justice or put his feat in perspective.

What the senior from Port Charlotte High did Saturday at the FHSAA Class 2A State Weightlifting Championships was more in the realm of annihilation than it was one guy being stronger than the other guys.

Competing in heavyweight class, Leacock crushed the previous state record, as well as the rest of the competition. The 6-3, 270-pounder hoisted a total of 880 pounds, a stunning 50 pounds more than the previous record of 830, to claim a gold medal on the campus of Arnold High School in Panama City Beach.

Yeah, but even he did not pitch in the 9th. Do the Bulls not have a legitimate closer, now?

I know I used to give Lelo a hard time for changing pitchers too often, it was like a parade to the mound, but after Pete gave up 2 singles to start the 9th, I thought CBM would have gone to the pen.

Preze was used for six outs last night. I think Mohl just wanted to try and save the pen as much as possible for Sunday. They needed to win last last to save the series and we had a game in hand. We will see if the gamble pays off today.

  6. "It’s hard to imagine how good South Florida junior lefthander Shane McClanahan could be when he fully develops his secondary stuff.

We’ve marveled at McClanahan’s fastball velocity over the past year. As we saw Friday night in USF’s 9-6 win over Houston, he holds his velocity quite well. He was up to 97 in the early innings against the Cougars, and was still hitting 95 on the radar gun as he eclipsed the 100-pitch mark. But while that fastball is a special pitch for McClanahan, he knows he needs to continue to develop his secondary offerings if the Bulls want to make noise at the end of this season, and if he wants to make a quick move through the professional ranks to the big leagues."
