It used to be you had until the first day of class to sign, but they changed it. Now if you don't sign by the signing date, the team forfeits your rights, they get hit with the equivalent bonus amount slotted for your pick whether they spend it on other draftees or not this year, but they get the another pick in next year's draft the pick after the one the player was selected. Off the top of my head, I can't remember what Shane's pick was, but say he was 27, they would get the 28th pick and their regular first rounder.

Point of info. I believe he was 31st.

Saw Tebow play a few months ago here here in Manchester, NH (Fisher Cats). It was a cold day and he went down swinging twice and walked once. But the whole crowd cheered him every time he was up.

I watched him play last season in Port St. Lucie. My gf is a big Tebow fan and I got some browning points by predicting his late July call up in June and called to buy the tickets directly behind the on deck circle, on worship night so he gave a testimony after. Anywho, he went one for three but I routinely look up his highlights and  I honestly think he has a good swing and good approach. He’s progressing leaps and bounds considering his late start and to be honest the could be a time when the Mets could find a use for him during a September push to the post season. He would draw some of the inevitable media with grace and would be a great teammate, possibly give a pinch hit or two and a spot left field play.

Had he chose baseball in high school, he could be an all start by now. Much more suited as a power hitting LF than a QB.

:offtopic:. Mods feel free to move this to the general sports page.

    1) To say BK or CO will win the job because BB hasn't beaten out anyone for a starting job in his career ignores the fact that none of the 3 have.

    2) If BK or CO looked like they even had a chance, BB wouldn't be here.

    3) BB did get the starting nod for Alabama, once.

    4) BB was once as a good a physical prospect as you're going to find anywhere in the country.

    5) Also, if BB was even in the ballpark of his potential, he wouldn't be here either. So there's that.

Here are my reason for going with BB:

    a) There's no denying he has all the tools. Size, arm, etc. to lead our offense.

    b) Nick Saban once thought he was good enough to lead Alabama. That's got to count for something.

    c) His wife is lights out. Seriously. I'm not sure how the analytics crowd would explain this, but nobody with a wife/girlfriend like that rides the bench.

    d) BB can make all the physical throws, I'm choosing to believe he's matured and realizes this is his last stop. Has put in the time and effort to make up for any lost ground.

     e) Even if he crashes spectacularly, we've lost absolutely nothing in taking him on.

I agree here. He has been in a college film room studying some of the best defenses in country, I don’t think he will struggle picking up what goes on in the AAC.

And she would lead to a bigger attendance boost than a transit system.

Oh I see what you mean. I can agree with that. It’s a somehwhat similar situation aside from us not having five stars and competing for a national championship and what not. I’m wondering what made Saban go with BB out of the gate in 2016

BB had a year on Hurts so I think Saban gave him a chance but if I remember correctly, Saban had always planned for both of them to play that game and Hurts won the job that Saturday.

  5. Draft deadline

The Rays, and all other teams, face a 5 p.m. Friday deadline to sign their picks from last month's draft. Of most interest of the Rays 10 remaining unsigned picks is No. 31 overall LHP Shane McClanahan. The USF redshirt sophomore is looking for a bonus of $3 million based on an email sent to teams during the first round; his slot value is $2.22 million so there is some middle ground, with talks expected to continue up to the deadline. Word from McClanahan's side mid-day Thursday was they were "waiting and seeing" what happens next.

I thought that  most Bowls get sponsorship, but shift the ticket sales risk to the participating schools. Sell your allotment, and you are Golden, don't sell them, and you are forced to pay the Bowl game for the unused tickets.

Not sure that every bowl game is that way, but I think many are.

That is true. The bowl will get their money either way.

Because there is a precieved value difference between the $25 and the $50 tickets, where are the $5 seats going to be in relation to the $25 seats? I’ll give you a hint it’s the same seats, people will rather pay $20 less for the same product in the majority of cases.

So who says it has to be the same seats? Where did you get info from? I’ll give you a hint, no where because this all hypothetical. USF really doesn’t (or shouldn’t) care about gate money because the real money in TV deals, and TV companies want to seat stadiums full. So taking less money at the gate to get people in could lead to greater revenue through bigger TV deals.

Let’s say we sell 25k tickets at $25 a piece, that’s $625k dollars. Let’s say we offer $5 tickets and 20% of the people paying the $25 decide f this I’m paying $5, that’s a loss of $100k that you now need to sell 20k more $5 tickets just to break even assuming there are no more costs. This type of business plan would be the definition of insanity. If you only have one product it can’t be a loss leader, “let’s lose money on every sale but we will make it up in volume”.

If this theory works then why do people buy the 50 dollar tickets instead of the 25 dollar tickets? It’s seems business 101 to me. If a product isn’t selling, you have to lower the price.

Because it devalues your product and no one wants to now pay $100 for your ticket when so many people are paying $5 especially when we don’t even have the upper level open so there isn’t as big of a gap in the product. Also we make zero dollars on any food, drinks or popcorn so pretty much we just take their $5 and hand it to he glazers so that now there is someone there to maybe give them more money and for all that we get a devalued product and a person that will never pay sticker price for our ticket, pass.

So the solution is to keep charging prices that people clearly won’t pay? I mean the definition on insanity comes to mind.
