There is not much to say about football with this thread. As for me, I am happy that the 80% who got vaccinated feel good about their decision and feel safe. I am also happy to hear that the 20% talked to their parents for different perspectives and information and made the choice that they feel safe with. Everybody is different and every person has different risks/concerns and as we have seen different people react differently to COVID. That’s why in America we can celebrate the right to choose for ourselves (my body, my choice means just that). We need to stop villainizing people who don’t believe the same things we do. We are all Americans, on this board we are all Bulls and we all want our families and each other to be safe and healthy. Go Bulls!!

My only concern is that their parents may not be virologists or truly educated on the subject matter, so what's the point in taking their advice? I respect my elders but I wouldn't go to them for medical advice.

We're all adults and experts at something, but we are not all experts at everything. I like to believe we are smart enough to realize just how ignorant we are on certain topics.

With that being said, as a teacher,  I got vaccinated as soon as I could because I care about my family and my students. I'd hope that our athletes care about their brothers on the field and the university enough to trust in science.

  2. I appreciate his vision. It isn't lost on me that when we were having winning seasons, we were only winning because our conference was so bad. Now that we are losing, everyone in our conference seems to be a league above us.

I chock this all up to the ebb and flow of college football. If CJS means what he's saying and attracts like minded players, we're going to be something to deal with.

In college I volunteered at an after school program for a charter middle school where most students were living in government housing, the student demographic was about 80-90% minorities. So I’ve walked the walk and have witnessed the challenges in these communities first hand. I played basketball with the kids and went to a block party in a government housing project, to try to be a good role model for kids, some of whom had dads in jail.

If these rioters and protesters wanted to help things they would be doing the same, instead they have a small army of rioters and they just harass businesses and other innocent people who are trying to live peacefully.

If it was about really helping a community and not about just burning down capitalism, people would be willing listen. BLM the organization doesn’t have any solutions. Their solution is to just stir up hate along racial lines and raise money for democrat politicians. All of the money raised by BLM goes to Act Blue which is just a democrat fundraising group. It’s a purely political organization. They’ve collected hundreds of millions in donations and they could be building schools, resource centers, health clinics, funding free tutoring and job training programs, but they aren’t doing that. They are just a pass through to democrat campaigns.

And those who disagree with the violence and dislike the BLM organization because of it do care about these issues, but just disagree on the solutions, and are not going to support violent revolutionaries that will take this country down the path of tyranny.

You admittedly don't live in those neighborhoods. You visited the situation enough to be familiar with it. You should know a much as I do that those communities are tougher on themselves than anyone else.

When crime is high,  there isn't a politician or preacher who doesn't organize movements and community watches to combat it. 93% of protests are peaceful so I don't know why you're focusing on the 7%, especially when the blm movement is multi-racial and easily infiltrated by those wanting to change the narrative.

The movement also doesn't have any leaders. So the YouTube video of one of the peele who started the # is nothing more than a tool used to scare people. That person has little to no influence on the movement as a whole.

Plus capitalism can't be all good. Americans can't get a living wage, afford higher education, afford healthcare, afford housing, live in food deserts...etc. A challenge to the system as a whole shouldn't be offputting. America can and should do better.

Depending on your perspective, this country is as close as its ever been to tyranny. The solutions that are needed come with fixing the broken system,  not ignoring it, when it doesn't work for the majority of Americans. Plus the progressive movement of the democratic party is trying to do just what you suggested. So donating would do just that.

I'm fine with United, but they lost me at BLM. I watch to relax and get away from all the world's bs. Not to sit through athletes complaining about inequality. The same athletes who get into college based not on merit but being able to run fast and jump. If that isn't bias and privilege I don't know what is. BLM is a racist and violent movement. Its silent on the topic of black on black crime, black abortion rates and black fatherless rates. It's an organization that's quick to blame whitey for it's problems without having any accountability of ones own actions. I will never support that movement and any company, person or organization that supports it. Shame that after 21 years of tickets and attendance, this is how it ends for me.

In a better world these same athletes shouldn't have to depend on being physically exceptional to get an education.

America since its inception has been racist and violent. What makes the BLM any more so? Black on black crime isn't a thing. Neither is white on white crime, latinx on latinx, Asian on Asian...etc. Crimes happen in proximity.

Let's not talk about a bundle of cells when America,  the richest nation in the world,  wont take care of the people who are here and treat them right.

You also can't talk about father-less homes without talking about the broken judicial system. The 'war on drugs' that preys upon communities of color and the social economically disadvantaged... You also should talk about father-less homes when you just got done complaining about abortion.

"Whitey" has historically dirty hands. Read any history book that doesn't sugarcoat the story of our nation and stays away from "The southern apologist" strategy.  May I recommend "The New Jim Crow" by Michelle Alexander. To think the 'blame' is solely based on percieved race and not actual immoral laws and government backed lynchings is astonishing.

It's extremely sad that you aren't willing to listen to people who are showing you a perspective different from your own. It's entirely possible that the truth you know is only your truth because of where you focused your vision.

I hope and pray you don't leave this earth on the wrong side of history with such anger and bitterness in your heart. America is finally opening its eyes and your guy reaction is to run away and hide, saying everyone outside of your community who doesn't think like you is wrong. And you'd rather give up something you spent 20+ years loving, than to change your perspective. That says a lot about you and those like you.

  5. It has to be hard for Q or anyone in his position. "Shut up and play" is too loaded off a phrase nowadays. They're pimping his image and story. When he comes in the team is electrified. The announcers and internet sing his praises and questions the coache. They win 1 game where he doesn't play and now he just needs to play his role. I don't get it. He loves Tampa but doesn't like being used or not given a serious shot at the starting role.  It isn't just about the paycheck for some people.

scott has it all.it is so obvious too me

If you said STRONG had no personality I'd believe that. I Loved Taggart's energy and swag. The only difference is Harbaugh tree hype and Clemson championship winning/ behemoth program hype. Mix that with new AD that also has great energy and connections... boom goes the dynamite.

I think he will be good but I expect some ups and downs especially next year..so as long as I see improvement over the season even if we only win 4-5 games ill be ok.

Strong had this team on a downward slide so I really dont think it will be a quick turnaround...teams have to learn how to win again.

I don't think we were as bad as our record would indicate. Our offense was inconsistent/ borderline consistently bad. We have an offense-minded coach and a coordinator with a photographic memory. Offensive line was bad, but the coach brought in for that seems legit even if his history is tainted with that one school. The whole crew is brimming with energy, which our team needed big time. I honestly don't see why we can't win and win big coming out of the gate. We weren't missing THAT many peices and we seem to be on track to gaining more than we loss.

This quote made me chuckle. My question, did this kid realize this when he committed to FSU back in July?

    https://247sports.com/college/florida-state/Article/FSU-football-recruiting-Manny-Rogers-new-coaching-staff-Mike-Norvell-Adam-Fuller-Willie-Taggart-140565428/

“The head coach and them, they’re way different than Coach Taggart,” Rogers said. “I know he’s going to be here, and he wants to win way more than Coach Taggart wants to.”

I hope those entitled brats win zero games next year

I don’t get this whole locality thing, I could give a rats ass if a coach is loyal, I want a coach that wins.  Give me a Frost or Norvell that wins and moves on rather than a perennial 7-5 — 8-4 coach that hasn’t won jack but boy they sure are loyal.

I agree whole heartedly.  I couldn't care less about loyalty. I respect CWT for what he did. He kept his word, he got us up, dusted us off, put a fresh coat of paint on, and drove us to the car show. Then sold us for a seemingly nicer vehicle. That he in turn sold for his dream car. That dream car didn't age well and broke down right in front of the dealership that housed us. (I started the analogy and couldn't stop)

I would LOVE to have a great program that's known for launching coaching careers... until we move to another conference. That means we have sustained success, we're on the national stage, and our football program is well known and desirable.

We'll still attract the same types of recruits either way. I want to out recruit and out muscle everyone else in the conference. I want to be the media darling. I want to be associated with the program that the media is buzzing about because we're just that da*n good.

  10. This thread is legitimately a broken record. All of these points have been made and counter arguments throughly exhausted... "No retreads" "Bring back Levitt" "Slick Willie talked trash" "CWT was a few NFL caliber athletes away from being fired" / "CWT had success here and he would again" "Levitt is never coming back" "No proof of trash talk" "Every solid team is riding stud players"

I'll be so glad when we get a coach so we all can just be excited for the rebuild. I personally hope we get CWT back. Just makes the most financial and cultural sense to me. Winning fixes almost everything, and I'm sure once that score board starts lighting up, and the wins start piling up, you won't care what catch phrases or gimmicks come this way.

Let's all just enjoy the hope of a better season. Shoot I hope we have some of that SMU luck and turn this thing around in a heartbeat.

  11. Some can complain all they want. I'll happily take his energetic personality, winning, and great recruits again. I'll smile sitting right next to you as we get back into the top 25. I'll say he learned his lesson and he comes cheap. Lord knows this would be amazing if they can get it done. Christmas coming early!!!
