After processing for 1 night here is my issue:

CJS said he was pleased with the progress, was talking up Bohanon, hid away our spring game, touted up the Grit score... he hyped this all up. (Both can be true)

And then after BYU he was like "I'm surprised" (As a teacher, I can prep my kids using the best tools and best practice, yet they still can surprise me by having a bad day when they take their exams. That wouldn't make me a bad teacher or them bad students, we just didn't perform to the best of our abilities.)

It's not that we are bad. It's that CJS thought we were good and was so wrong. (I can't buy into this for the same reason above. All of the coaches felt the same way. They can't ALL be wrong. Even CWT talked about his team's learning how to win.)

Damages my trust in him. (Understandable) He doesn't seem a good judge of football talent and success and I can't take away anything he says as a fan.

I wish he would have just spent 8 months saying we have a lot of work to do, we're still working on things, we have a lot to fix. We have a new DC, OC, and QB... it's gonna take some time still... etc. (That would cost him the locker room. Can you imagine giving your all, buying into the system, sacrificing so much, but all the coach ever said was you're going to suck and here's why???)

THAT's the crappy part... stop telling me noble lies. Tell me where we are (what coach does that publicly?), and specifically what we are doing to get to where we want to go, which needs to be competing for conference championships. (We haven't started conference play and I will venture to say that we are playing teams that are better than our conference foes) And SHOW me that on the field. (I believe they will)

We gave up 400 yards against an fcs team. We barely scored on them if it were not for turnovers. There is something wrong with this team. It’s the same when we were 7-0 with Charlie Strong. Something is not right. We all see it and feel it.

400 yards sure, but did they score? Barely scoring is still scoring because last year's team couldn't do that. Turnovers are apart of the game and two were forced.

We were all burned from losing,  I get it. But we won and shouldn't be upset or miserable because of it. Is our team better than it was last year in my opinion, yes. Are we Alabama? No, but neither is Alabama.

Last year I felt like we were held together by tape hoping to not fall apart. This year I simply feel like we are not executing. I see flashes of greatness. Can't capitalize on opportunities without talent. The talent is there and the will to win is there.

Our perception is our reality. And I choose to believe that our team has the talent to not only compete, but win the majority of the games left on the schedule.

  3. I mean there really is hope for the future. Did y'all see that Louisville score? Maybe going up against (hopefully legit) top 25 competition will give us added fuel to keep pushing. Once we turn the corner this will all be worth it.

Howard, Louisville,  East Carolina,  Tulane, Temple,  Tulsa, are all wins if the second half team comes out and plays a whole game.

Shoot I appreciate the fact that GB didn't have to run for his life all night. Unless I missed something, there were no sacks. That's a huge win. I can't remember the last time a qb had time to go through his progressions.

1st half was all of the bad we have to suffer this year put into one game.  🤞🏿🤞🏿🤞🏿

I have four tickets to tomorrow's game in the end zone - about five rows back. If you're a USF fan, you can have them for free. First come first serve. If you attempt to sell them, I will NEVER give you tickets again. Bulls need to take care of other Bulls when possible. Thanks...

If they aren't claimed my kids and myself would love to go! Shoot appreciate you keeping it in the bulls family either way.

  5. I believe the element of surprise will work in our favor. You all can't possibly game plan for us. We don't know what we look like So You definetly can't know What we look like.

I like to believe we are a top 25 team that no one Who isn't wearing green and gold goggles can see coming.

Our new QB 1 had a completion percentage above 85% during his competition to be number 1. That means not only can he throw,he has targets that will catch the ball.Having Consistent wide recievers has been something sorely lacking for a while. Mix that with a consistently functional running game and boom Baby!!!

    * Sits green and  gold goggles back on the nightstand next to the half empty wine bottle, that is haphazardly placed on top of the tear staind picture of Quinton Flowers. *

They were helpless, yet the best of AAC and G5.  Now, you may understand the predicament better.

I definitely wouldn't say helpless. It was Alabama's 3rd lowest scoring game all year. They were comparable to any other team that faced Alabama this year.

This wasn't some God tier program vs little old G5. In my eyes this poked yet another hole in the "P5 is so much better than everyone else" narrative. The football landscape has changed and there's great football being played at darn near every level.

Cincinnati held their own and stupidity cost them.

Ah forget it. I'm just kidding. I can respect someone wanting to be left alone. I'll even resist the urge to defend CWT's legacy.

I'll say that CJS's 1st two years were bad for different reasons. That 1st season was simply bad. I couldn't watch a game while having any hope at all.

I know without a doubt the 2nd year team could beat the 1st year team easily. It's just the growth wasn't enough to bridge the win/loss gap.

I believe with the talent we have added, mixed with what was going right for so far, we will officially turn the corner in CJS 3rd year.

Then we can go back to the good old days of arguing over not getting enough style points, not beating others convincingly enough, or how unappealing the Potatoe bowl is.

WE might have had a chance on Kiffin and that ship has sailed . Myers would never come here because we can't afford to pay him anything near what it will take.  I really don't care what fans and players think of the coach. I don't care if he caters to the players or fans, but I want a guy that is  a winner that is respected by his accomplishments not by his talk off the field. I want a guy that wins and players want to play for. Sometimes coaches can be really strict and " mean" but the players that develop under them love them. See Saban for an example.  Can you be a nice guy with good character and a successful football coach? Sure, but it seems most of the best coaches have certain qualities that offended some people.

I think you and a few others are falsely equating two very different things. I would venture to say the ratio of successful "nice guy" coaches who have experienced sustained success is much higher than "unlikable" coaches. I'd even go out on a limb to say there are a lot more unsuccessful "unlikable" coaches as opposed to successful ones.

I don't want short term success. I want a legitimate G5 or where ever we end up, dynasty. I want this thing built right. I don't want success that is only sustainable due to 1 player or 1 coach. I believe CJS is truly doing something worth the time and effort.

Are you implying he underperformed as a coach?

As crazy as it may seem now,  I believe Charlie Strong was one win away from having us in the AAC championship game. I know CWT was without a doubt. 2016-2017 seasons seem so long ago... It's crazy we were consistently ranked and handling business not even 4 years ago.

By the way, I feel to a much lesser extent an attachment to CWT as well. I'm pretty sure I would've taken him over CJS when that decision was going on. I didn't know it was controversial to like former coaches who did good things at USF...

Is someone going to act like CWT was a horrible coach too because he didn't win a championship? It was happening, he just needed more time, like CJL. Obviously Willie didn't put in the time here like Jim, but Willie should always be welcome here. It's weird that half this 'fan' base is allergic to praising our greats....

I believe it's just being tired of the same argument, "we suck only because we fired CJL." I will always appreciate CJL and he will always have a special place in this program and in our memories. But to think for a second he could recruit in this environment, have the same relationship with the media that he did,  or simply out work these young hungry coaches in the conference is a little much.

I LOVED what CWT was able to do with this team. His recruiting was insane, the gulf coast offense was legendary, and the confidence the team had was untouchable.  BUT he pulled the trigger too quick. Can't fault someone for chasing their dreams,  it sucked,  but I'd take him back in a heart beat. Plus the program was burned so far down to the ground I'm not even sure it could still be considered the program that CJL built. We were really REALLY bad.

I'm hoping CJS's bamboo analogy comes to fruition. He's a good man, he's learning on the job,  but the truth is his learning. The team just has to learn to win. They have to find that killer instinct and learn to be consistent. It's just bad timing that our down years come when the conference is a strong as it's ever been top to bottom.

Plus I dare the people who say we aren't making progress to go back and watch the games from CCS back end, watch CJS's first season again, shoot watch CWT's first year, or CSH's last year. This team is worlds better than any of those. Our competition is just better as well. I'd even say this team could beat all of those teams above easily.

  11. I mean CJS talked about the reads in the post game interview. The knights disguised their looks. They'd show something prior to hiking the ball so it was a 50/50 shot. Either a big chunk play or a loss. We adjusted to that after the half that's why there was more success. I will say this, he shows flashes of greatness that makes me forget he's a freshman, then there are very clear freshman moments.

If this is his start, his potential is through the roof. His "on" games had us comparing him to our greats. His off games still look world's better than our past aka anyone not named Flowers,  Daniels, Groethe, or Blackwell. (Not a high bar but our low bar was there for a while) The future really is bright, losing just SUCKS.

They are either lying to themselves or they think if they keep saying it enough that they will eventually will the progress to happen. But no one can say with a straight face that any progress is being made within the program right now.

Outside of NC state,  SMU, and Tulsa we didn't look HORRIBLE. We simply looked inconsistent and like we didn't play 4 quarters. Games last year felt like we we enjoyed the beating. Like we paid to be punished. Even at the end of Strong it felt like we got lucky when we won or we never truly stood a chance.

I get that we're mad right now and we're hurting, but saying you see no progress is disingenuous.
