Didn't Taggart try to get it moved? I imagine contractual or monetary issues are to blame for it staying in Vero this year.

This is a sad, useless, and unpalatable leftover from the Skippy Kragholtz era and someone (Coach Taggart?) needs to dig a hole and bury Vero Beach practices in it.

Skip's Camp Kumbayah lives

Willie needs to sit the campers around a fire and tell them a ghost story about getting outmuscled by the likes of Ball Srate and Temple.

Never heard a player, coach, or fan that's actually been there say that it's a waste of time. Every interview I've seen, though it could be like a highlite reel, has only been positive.

I spent a few days at the Vero facility with my high school lacrosse team. I thought it was great. Outside of cost I don't see any negatives. Just because Holtz did it doesn't make it bad for the team.

This was my best guess, too.  Maybe we had a deal with them (Vero Facilities Mgmt.) that was stupid expensive to back out of.

Agreed.

We have new facilities here and we should take advantage of that.

Vero takes the players away from their non-football lives, and allows football and team to be the focus for almost 24 hours a day (I guess possibly except for any players from the Vero Beach area).

IMG and Vero both have good facilities, but I would think Vero wins out (if cost the same) because it really does remove the players from distractions. IMG might be a tad to close to home to effective do that.

Unrelated Side Note - Vero has incredible memories for me, I got to meet baseball legends like Duke Snider, Don Drysdale, Lou Brock, Roy Campanella, Whitey Ford, Enos Slaughter among tons more. Vero used to host both a Dodger Fantasy Camp (full of guys going back to the Brooklyn days) and a Hall of Fame Fantasy Camp ..... Always a great place to show up and get autographs.

If you check out Vero, it really was visionary the way they built that complex. It has what all the teams are fighting for now, in terms of minor league complex. It lost the Dodgers mostly because as a West Coast team, they wanted to train closer to home. A new team didn't rush in because the stadium is too old to be practical, but the complex is top notch.

It seems as if it is just for one year. They probably did have some contracts to work out.

#USF football will come back to Vero Beach for training camp Aug. 10-17 according to VBSV vice president Craig Callan. One-year deal signed

It is going to be for a shorter length of time than in the past.

I wonder if they'll do Bull Olympics and a talent show as in years past. Those nuggets served us well in he 4th quarters of games.

That said, I can tell Willie is more willing to have a team that is a little uncomfortable, insecure and on edge.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
