That was Florida, no doubt USF would sell out and get large crowds playing UF or FSU, BUT will they show for the rest? Nope we will be lucky to get 4,000 to see a good USF play Seton Hall or Providence or any of the usual out of conference patsies.

Did they give a hoot when we won? UCONN womens basketball outdraws the BEST year ever at USF by over 5,000.

You cant compare Mens and Womens Basketball

Why not? What does it tell you when UConn WOMENS basketball's avg attendance is almost TWICE USF'BEST mens basketball attendance. It will get uglier if we compared it to other mens basketball.

That is just not true.

Have you ever thought that nobody shows because we haven't won a conference title since decades?

Have you ever thought that nobody shows because we haven't been to the NCAA tournament in 16 years?

Nobody went to the Bucs games when they sucked either.

ANd the lightining -- whent they were the doormat of the leauge... You couldn't give away the seats.

How about the D-Rays... They are bottom dwellers... and everyone says its the "stadium."

Who wants to go watch a loser.

Nobody.

They were in the freakin SUN BELT bro???

Come on... man.

the were playing Oral Roberts or something..

DOn't tell me that people won't come watch a #18 South Florida Team play a #10 Providence team.

That is just totally untrue.

And anyone who thinks that people won't come watch a #20 South Florida team play a #3 ranked Syracuse team is just smoking the wacky tobacceee

Im talking a winning USF vs an unranked Seton Hall or Providence. There will be 4,000 and the same will show up to see our non conference games vs Bethune and the rest.

Where were they when we had winning teams in CUSA and were playing Louisville,Cincy,Marquette and the rest our avg was 4-5,000 for those years.

Because we weren't very good.

You need to make the NCAA tourny.  Its that simple.

And 6K is more then twice as many who show up now.

And I lived in DC for a long time... Its not like Georgetown packs um in for soft teams..

ANd nobody shows up to a MD - UNC Baltimore game either.

Hell - nobody really even shows up to the MD - FSU game.

If South Florida starts winning -- they will show up.  Especially since we are in the Big East now.

There is no doubt if we win in the Big east we would get a rank and then people will show up.  The problem is we are far from from winning in the big east.  We cant win a conference game ever 9-10 tries and expect people to care.

Mac needs to step up his X's and O's on defense.  I could drop 10 points vs USF if you give me wide open jumpers all day off picks.  Its been happening all year.  On offense, I dont even think we run one.  Its more like a clear out for someone to take his man one on one.  Not going to work.

The good:

Verdajo played.  Maybe mac will realize he needs every body he can put on the floor.

We stuck around, thought we were going to lose by 30 at first.

Our bench doubled production in 1 game that it has in the 4 previous BE games.

The bad:

Saaka's injury.  Any update?  Looked really bad when it happened but seemed to be ok sitting on the bench afterward.

we are now 2-19 in the big east.

another year of creating no excitement for the fans to show up.  (the worst of all and it will continue until we bring in a new leader)

Bring in Wojo.

It's true. Whether you like it or not, Tampa has a ton of fairweather and bandwagon fans.

yep.  all we need is a winning program.  USF is a bigger school than it was 16 years ago, is in the best basketball conference (or 2nd best, whichever), and now has more school pride because of the football program (which btw, is still gaining popularity but won't hit big time success until we're ranked ala rutgers).

btw, cubanbull I believe, go back and look at that cincy thread.  the "darksiders" were still there stating that cincy is a TERRIBLE team as well, and that our win showed more about them than us.

i'd like to believe that our team will gel throughout this season and pull out some wins to make it to the big east tourney.  we shall see.  we are currently tied for 13th (with 2 other teams).  in case you don't know, that's 1 spot out.  75% of the teams go.  ugh.
