If they are only going to carry one Kicker, then they should give it to the best player, right?

I don't blame the kid at all - there are plenty of good schools who need a kicker, where he can get his education paid for...that's the bottom line for the 99.999% of kids who aren't going to play at the next level.

Agree with Bulliever, this isn't the pro's. You can't just yank a scholarship for just sucking it on the field. Let's trust Levitt on his decision and stop second guessing him. The amount of college football "coaches" on this board is amazing : Levitt is the BEST thing to happen to USF football, PERIOD.

Good grief.  He's a walk-on - that is his deal.  He was given a chance and capitalized.  Good for him.  Without USF football he may well have not played at such a level.  To demand a schollie or leave is his perogative and I wish him well in his future endeavors.

As stated before, the best of luck to Kyle.  Jim Leavitt has often awarded scholarships to walk-ons.  I do not know how many have received them after only their freshman season however.  Had Kyle been a "star" quarterback, I can see where Leavitt might be more inclined.  I hope Kyle sticks around, but I can not fault the program for wishing to use the scholarship to bring in more talent in critical areas of need.
