We can reasonably say that Taggart was a better recruiter than his replacement... and he was 18-4 once he changed his offense to "Let Quinton Cook".  Had he stayed, Chris Oladukun -- who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers -- likely would have replaced Flowers.  So, while we don't KNOW what would happen -- it is quite reasonable to believe that 2017 - 2019 could have looked like 2015 and 2016.

Well Miami never has had an ocs and they have won national championships and have put a top tier amount of players in the pros since the 80s. You can have a big time program with an ocs if you have talent and a winning program. We have lacked NFL talent recently and wins  which is the two biggrst factors in my opinion in sustaining a winning program. Now that they are not winning as much they will struggle. Now we need an ocs but we also need to find a winning coach asap. Giving put extensions to failing coaches with three years left is laughable.

I know it is an open discussion.  I never bash anyone for having a different opinion. We just need to fins out if cjs is the guy or move on asap.Hopefully he is and the team makes significant  strides this year with the new qb, oc, dc, and p5 transfers.

Agreed - things would have been much different if Taggert stayed

2017 may have been a 12-1 year and the GCO would have rolled on from there 

My guess is that the offense may not have been as prolific under Oladukun and given that Taggert generally viewed the defense as the group of players on the field between offensive touchdowns,  2018 probably would have been more like 2015 for Ws/Ls

Speaking for myself only, I am not excited about a single one of those teams coming in 2023. Others on Twitter are trying to put lipstick on a pig and talk up the likes of UAB and UTSA , but to me it’s all minor league entities that I couldn’t care less about. I am going to be sad when ucf and Cincinnati are gone as I always enjoyed when we played those two teams.

 

This is USF’s punishment for not investing in football before now. We deserve to be playing North Texas in front of 20k at Ray Jay. It’s time to take our medicine and going forward do everything humanly possible to get the hell out  of this crummy conference.

The only two teams that are at least “somewhat” acceptable to me are UAB (I like their comeback story coupled with our basketball history together) and Rice (Top 20 university in the nation on academic quality and have a long football tradition…although over the last 20 years it’s been mostly bad).
