There's no way he goes in there as the DC ...
Are you doubting his ability as the Supreme Leader of their defense?

We used to have some vicious games with UNC Charlotte back in the day. Dobras was the MAN.

What's your fallback sport(s) after USF football is over?
I'm going to be in a world of hurt after next week.
baseball, puh-lease...Men's bball... Uh... I watched the FIU replay... "Help me, Obi-wan, you're my only hope!"
Basically, I'm in trouble! Gonna have to be productive till August... Good grief!

The deal was signed Sunday night and he will be paid an average of $1.7 million a year through the 2021 season.
Good! Everything is all right with the world now. Him and Ca$h together just didn't sit well with me.

Didn't read the whole thread again... did we make it in?
Many of our former coaches have made it to the P5. The word is that they are sending a truck to get us.

I don't care where he plays. I just want him to reach his dreams and succeed at the next level.

True. There are a lot of us rooting for him to get another HC gig after the tomfoolery that went down here.
Yes, I know. I've felt like he's been "homeless" since that time. I mean what coach would put a clause in their contract about another job (kansas state)? It's like he's trying to "go home" ever since.
But, he's been making a good living and has his family, etc. Can't be all that bad!

This football season is going to be over very soon! --Ain't no live football until next fall!
Let's get fired up about the bowl game and seeing what our guys can do!
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 <-------- the months ahead without USF football.

Ya know, the man makes a million dollars + per year. I think he's doing pretty well... I'm not all that concerned where he ends up coaching.

Are those reported numbers or individually hand counted from satellite images?

He is making 5.5M (1M from USF and 4.5 from Texas) this year and next. After next he bumps up to 2.5M from USF, but that is a pay cut
Technically, it's 5m, because 1/2 of what USF pays him goes back to Texas.
I wonder if they cut to the chase and said, "We'll pay the 4 and you just give him the 1 and save all the hassle with the paperwork."

SMU needs to get back to what it was good at back in the day -paying for success!
If you've not seen the ESPN 30-for-30 "Pony Express" about SMU, it's worth watching.
Here's a youtube version.

Was so pumped about this hire at the time now I am ambivalent just like he appears to be.
For me, I was expecting him and his mostly-Texas staff to just tweak the offense, improve the D, and run away with everything (not up the middle!). This was the basis of my excitement.
Well, he came in and implemented his style of football, which was fine and all. But that D never delivered (how many points to the gnats?).
So,
scratch year 1.Right now, we still don't know what he and his staff are capable of in terms of making USF better.
(1) Can they sign talent?
(2) Can their brand of football work with our guys (new and old) and win in this league? I just hope he doesn't go to the power game that Ca$h implemented the first two years at USF...
Clearly, his coaching stock around the country has plateaued. Otherwise, he would have had more looks at P5 coaching jobs.
Next season is a complete mystery to me.
All that said, he might be a very good coach for us. Right now, we just don't have enough data.
We only have our preseason expectations and the lump of coal that showed up under the tree.

I came to USF in the fall of 1989. I was a Dolphins and Organge Bucs fan, so that helped with the football void. Basketball was king on campus. I remember being star-struck when I saw Dobras at the Wednesday flea market.
I went to both uf and FSU games, and then became a big FSU fan. I remember driving up for the FSU-Miami game and everyone on the road was going like 95 mph, so cops couldn't really do anything but watch on the side of the interstate.
USF football seemed like some kind of distant wish that was too big and too far away at that time.

What was it like for you as a Bull back in the day? How did you get your football fix?

Frost is the total package. Young, dynamic, recruits and he can manage games and the X's and O's.
And he actually loves his players and his employer!

In 4 seasons at USF, Willie played in 0 conference title games and didn’t win a bowl game. Yet he gets HC jobs at Oregon and now FSU.
Frost goes undefeated in his second season in Orlando and wins the AAC title. He gets rewarded by becoming HC at Nebraska.
I'd take Frost 100X over Ca$h any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

That's the next thing to worry about. Not that there's a ton of Willie's coaches leftover that are still with Strong's staff, but Taggart coming back and still poaching guys from USF is kinda irky.
Can't blame him; Ca$h's got to take care of his family (wife, kids, etc.).

Are you sure it wasn't their RB? I watched part of the game and I thought it was their RB who sat out. Their QB played but couldn't do anything right.
