I wish I had those connections.....but I've read like 15-20 articles and tweets from high school coaches/players and peers all saying he is the best fit for us! Hopefully he will become our "saban"

All this talk?? Seriously I love it when fans talk and everybody jumps on board. When USF hires Taggart or whomever, I'm glad they don't consult any of us That is why we are fans and they make informed decisions not based on emotion - at least I hope so I just want the best for our team and thats why I wanted Zook...to save our recruits and to give us a fighting chance on the field every game. Now after reading everything about the man, I see I was flat out wrong in dismissing him because of record/confernce. He might be the perfect man for our job

I've changed my tune guys. I was flat out wrong about Willie.....he will bleed green and gold and show some f'ing passion on the field. Im sorry for dismissing him because of WKU and he will have my support and I will buy 2 season tickets right after they hire him! Go Bulls!

At least put up La Tech type numbers like Sonny Dykes....if we are going to a sunbelt type coach for a savior

No offense, but can Derrick spell Coach? I met him when I was at UT and he was a great man/player/hof worthy, but saying he should be our coach is like saying we are going to hire O'liar from Mouse Town.....

This. Because it is realistic. Even a "big name" slam dunk coach couldn't polish this turd quick enough to satiate the masses. I can't even begin to understand this line of thinking. Even when you fear failure you shoot for the stars. By that I don't mean a big name or a retread, but a hungry young coach who you believe can be something special going forward. By hiring Zook you would literally be shooting for mediocrity and expecting relative failure. The man went 23-15 at Florida following in the biggest shoes possible. Everyone hated him from day one which I assume is why you have that taste in your mouth. He inherited a **** program at Illinois and didn't make it any worse. I don't think he is the greatest hire by far but I think he should be top 5. He is also the most realistic hire I have seen mentioned. I'm the furthest thing possible from a Gator fan and truth be told Zook is the only head coach they have had in the last thirty years that I find even remotely tolerable as a human being, so I'm not sure how you think that would color my opinion in any way. My issue with Zook is simple: HE IS A TERRIBLE GAME DAY COACH. Period. That's my only beef, but it should be a significant one. His talent to success ratio at Illinois was remarkably dreadful. Dude, I'm a pretty crazed college football fan and I loved Skip Holtz and you can ask my wife. Some of Skips game day coaching decisions made me break crap in my living room on a weekly basis. At least Zook was good at some parts of his job. You don't think Doug would try and influence him to hire really good OC/DC's? So he could do what he does best and make those kids follow him to Hades and back.....Skip sucked at recruiting...Skip sucked at time management....Skip sucked at showing passion and lighting a fire under his kids ass......Skip was someone who I would invite to my Wedding, but he wouldnt coach my peewee team based on the last two years....

Its not better because some of us think we are the Gators and can turn our nose up on solid coaches, just because they haven't won a national title. Then they push for Willie freaking Taggert....unbelievable. I can see if I said Charlie Weis would be a good option, then I would allow you guys to dress me in UCF gear and force me to drive to every Mouse home game.

Im thinking most of the negative nancys think we are going to be getting a Big 12 invite soon and Zook will get killed by Texas and Boomer Sooners every year. Folks...he just needs to outcoach/recruit Tulane, ECU, and freaking Memphis. I swear I think we are about to see Jon Gruden's name pop up here soon....

ECU was in the crapper also before Holtz....The next coach for the Pirates would be then defensive coordinator from the University of Florida John Thompson. Coach Thompson's tenure set the Pirates back several years, accumulating only three wins over two years. His teams beat only Army both years and Tulane his second year. Newly hired Athletic Director from the University of Virginia, Terry Holland, immediately fired Coach Thompson after the 2004 season. Did it make Skip a better hire for us? Face it folks we need 3 things from our new coach.... 1. Recruiting 2. Experience coaching at big time programs 3. Big Splash Name....this is important with all the shuffling in college football these days. A coach and his AD can help broker us a deal to a better situation....

Seems like a loyal guy though...if we get turned down by 10+ peeps then he would be a good back up....

How did the last hire from a c-d level school go? Sunbelt could get filled up by high school coaches and still have a few great teams. His resume isnt impressive to me....

Illinois already gave him that opportunity. Again he got tremendous talent to come to Champaign and again he failed miserably. Good point....CJL had some questionable coaching decisions also, but I will still stay with Zook as my choice...we are going to bleed out recruits fast if we don't sell our program! What good is a top ranked QB when he is the only solid recruit?! We need STUDS all over our team...Tavon Austin stud.....Ray Graham stud......Sanu.....stud......we need these players...not just Freakshow and a bunch of 2-3 stars.....

Auburn proved with a certain hire that proven losers can win a title with special players.....I would think Zook would learn from his mistakes. I watch his breaking down of plays on cbssports and he has a great football mind. Dude is passionate and I would send him into any kids living room to sell his NFL/College experience and track record getting talent to the NFL.

I think beggars can't be choosy...we can get him cheap and he would be a bigger hire splash then Houston "Old Tread" Nutt or Big Willie Styling Taggert. I hope to god we hire him.
