  1. After Auburn's SECOND 0-7 SEC season:

"I'm really proud of the way the seniors competed this year. We fought hard. We've got some things to build on. I think if you look at this team, you look at the uhh... the graduation rates and the uh... we've had some killer team meetings and our team cook was just phenomenal this year. Really proud of this team, and really pleased to see the effort."

  2. What do you mean if? It's already happened.

We are in a conference with:

Houston, ECU, SMU, UCF, Tulane, Memphis

    And also:

    SDSU, Temple, Boise St, Navy

With UL, Cincy, and UConn likely leaving.

We are about to finish another 1-conference-win season in one of the weakest leagues, while paying our coach $2m to do so.

If this isn't CDOA, if this situation doesn't merit new athletic leadership, I don't know what does.

  3. I get the logic behind giving Holtz an extension. But, I wonder if something like a performance-based contract exists and would have made sense. This way, we can sign the extension, but have the option to terminate the contract if he isn't as good as we expect.

I've never heard of such a thing. Do they exist? Wouldn't that have been a better option?

Most professional contracts have some performance standards... can coaching contracts do the same, and why didn't we use one?
