Was he invited to the HOF dinner or was he there as someone's guest??
Depends what you consider 'someone's guest.'
Paul Griffin wanted him to come and told the University, all parties agreed. But in the sense that he was just someone's random +1 no shot.

scott treated this job as a long term rebuild.
Not necessarily a bad thing. That is a reality. The only problem is not actually 'building' anything in three years. And it probably is better to build through HS players ala Taggart than the portal. I think Scott found that trying to solely rebuild through the portal is dangerous (see: Clyde Pinder).

Dangg Coach Golesh amining real high with one of his first offers. Don't think he would do it unless he had some sort of reason, right? Regardless, good to see.

On the other side of the coin, they have allegedly had “200 transfers contact CU”. There is excitement about him, and maybe he’s the guy who can break the NIL first and build a monster program out west?
I wonder if all the people criticizing his introductory meeting actually watched the whole thing or just little out-of-context tidbits? Granted, if you aren't a CU fan, why would you? But it definitely has captured the curiosity of the country. That's buzz worth all the money in the world during the time for realignment. All these critics fail to also point out the way he went around the room asking players if they did in fact, want to succeed, and every single one said 'yes, sir' without hesitation. The 'hit the portal' jab was more of a challenge rather than an order. One player is going viral for removing his hat midway through the meeting as a show of respect. His press conference was solid, even the 'that's your quarterback' moment people are focusing on. He said he 'had to earn in.' Colorado is going to be scary in two years.
BUT the point about him having the power to implode the program by just leaving are valid as well. That will definitely happen to Colorado, like Jackson State, as soon as he leaves for the SEC or FSU. Still, all this buzz, excitement, and success in recruiting already must be fun if you're a Buffs fan. Gonna be interesting to watch...

KP is an OG Bull tho. Was in the first coaching staff ever at USF in 1996. Guy does bleed green and gold. Glad to have him back.

Not the same guys . . . don't expect the same results.
True. They actually had better results with the other guys we just fired/left.

We have entered the age of embellishment.
Best DC in the nation is an embellishment perhaps.
I obviously wasn't expecting the actual best DC in the nation but at least someone without an underwhelming reputation from previous stops who can't seem to keep a job...

I’m not sold at all. His hiring of a mediocre D Coordinator as an inexperienced HC is unsettling.
-
He already got his first 5 star. All these clips are cut out of context. Current players are bums, if they can't cut it then, yes, hit the portal. He is gonna to turn Colorado into a playoff team in 2 years. Any way I can block the name "Deion Sanders" from internet algorithm?

Never thought I’d hear any sort of negativity from GB325.

Not the best DC, but I'd expect with a pitch like that, it'd be a DC that's above our weight class. A Brian Jean-Mary or Tom Allen type. Todd Orlando's numbers are around where Chris Cosh's were when we hired him:
Chris Cosh: 27.9 pts, 394.6 yds
Todd Orlando: 26.6 pts, 424.8 yds
Oh no…

This would be his 7th job in 12 years. Not the best of signs by any means.
If this is truly the D Coordinator then we might have a really big problem.

Could you imagine? That'd be better than Coach Prime

In terms of NIL, is it better to donate to USF Athletics or the East Fowler Collective?

Also think it's awesome ....... but I also think it's a lot easier to skip an exhibition game than a playoff game.
Great point.
Bet he's glad he didn't have to make that decision. Probably the best that could've happened to him individually. Seems like he already won some of the fanbase by skipping the bowl. But if Tennessee was in the playoffs...ohh boy.

Wow so for as much crap as we are giving our AD, UC really went sideways.
Terrible hire for them. The guy was trending down and did not do well coaching outside of the state of North Carolina. This might be their 'Charlie Strong' hire.

Something tells me this thread is going to have a lot of new posts in the coming days...

Expectations?
The guy has one year experience as OC and we were the worst team in FBS last year record wise. How can you expect anything?I’ll be amazed if he wins 2 games next year.
Time to pray.

Another NY transplant moving to TB. Maybe he DOES fit the culture...

Let’s lock this thread.
Good luck to Deion and good luck to Colorado.
Now let’s go Bulls.- 2

Kirby Smart was a coordinator when Georgia hired him. Tell me that was a bad idea.
Kirby Smart
Kirby Smart was Alabama’s defensive coordinator from 2008-2015.
Not just ONE year with some people saying he didn’t even do the play calling.
And his hiring context was nowhere like USF’s current state - after being imploded by an unproven, inexperienced young Co-OC.
Terrible terrible comparison.
-
Just crazy that after what you’ve just been through as VPMK you hire a guy with limited experience. Just one year as a full OC with claims that he did not handle playcalling.
Jesus man, there are HCs in the Sun Belt, CUSA, and FCS that are proven winners as HCs at their level - which right now is real close to where we are.
Why hitch your wagon to someone with that kind of inexperience?? You cannot afford to be wrong again. The fanbase leash is almost nonexistent.
The only thing I can think about is that the VPMK feels comfortable enough with the unquestioned support from the BOT to take this kind of risk, but if he fails, this program is finished. Just crazy pills.- 1

There was someone else but we didn't have the sack.
I’m sure you meant DS, but even FAU.
If you’re a recruit and you have Tom Herman and you have Alex Golesh sitting in your living room while being in the same conference. Who do you choose to play for?

I think we dodged a bullet here

Would you hire him as HC? The main thing he had going for him was his recruiting ability, but now he's exposed as a snake. Couldn't even get competitive FL kids to come play at FAU. He recognizes the CFB buzz right is all about Deion, and he wants to get a piece of the action. His best shot at a comeback probably IS as 'Deion's assistant.'
